Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Killing Floor is having a Summer Sideshow event. Who wants to get a game going soon? Preferably with voice chat.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
So...my brand new laptop doesn't have sound today. It was working fine yesterday and today, nope no sound. Did everything on the DELL website, called them, restored it to factory settings...nothing worked... At least it's still under warranty so they are sending someone Tuesday to have a look at it...*fingers crossed*

I might be up for this at some point in the very near future.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
And um...I restarted my laptop this morning to see that everything was fine... Apparently a windows update fixed the problem?...I guess I need to make restore points asap?

At least it was an easy fix!
Peregrine's laptop had screen issues a while ago and he had to send it in to a repair centre in NSW, who then took ages to fix the darn thing and send it back. Funnily enough though, it ended up being me without a laptop, because he just started using mine :smalltongue:

I would have done something similar...aka steal my mum's laptop. :P

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
G'day all! Just flew back from a trip to the great city of Melbourne, and boy are my arms tired!
.....
:smalltongue: Annnnyway, I had meant to post last week to try and organize a mini meetup, but the forums were down when I tried prior to the trip.
If you did go to Carlton Vs Collingwood however, we were in the same stadium at least! So we will always have that time we spent together.
Thought I'd post here a few touristy pictures:
Also, for future reference, would people have wanted to meetup? I'm not as active (a grave understatement :smallwink:) as I used to be, but I'll probably be heading back to Melbourne next year sometime. Would be great to mix up the plane ol' trip with some Gitp folk!

But...But...You owe me a drink!

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
There was a vague idea to have another meetup this year (in the tradition of the one we had last year)... but the thread kinda died.
I did most of the organising for last years' trip, but since we wouldn't be able to attend one this year, I didn't bother getting involved, and no one else did anything.
I would definitely be up for something next year though. By that point, both of us should have jobs and a steady income!

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
^ @Lady Moreta, I'll be sure to monitor this thread then for next years preparations. And clearly then you are the glue that keeps the group together!
Don't worry, I haven't forgotten!
I'll be sure to redeem myself if I haven't gone past the pint of no return.
How does... *two drinks* sound? :smalltongue:
-
Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to attend anything not held in Brisbane because I can't afford travel.
But then, I might be able to next year, so one never knows.
Edit: And what am I still doing awake? I promised myself I'd go to bed early!
Goodnight everyone!

It ended up that way  Friggin' bunch couldn't even make a decision on where to go for tea :smalltongue: (though it amused the guy who ran the backpackers ever so much. I felt like Camp Mum.)

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Pretty much Brisbane or bust for me too, as I actually have to get to Brisbane in the first instance, not to mention from Brisbane to the next destination.

This sounds like an acceptable plan!
To be honest, I wasn't in melbourne most of this week anyway, was in ballarat, or working...So it probably worked out for the best.
And I am holding you to both those drinks now :P

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Depending on time of year I can manage either Melbourne or Sydney (but please not Sydney, Sydney is the worst place in the world :smallfrown:).
On the other hand, my loss would be no great casualty so feel free to proceed as planned.
(Of course I can also manage Bendigo and Canberra, but I don't think that would be as popular with the other posters :smalltongue:)
-
Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Nonsense, Bendigo would be an excellent place; just a short train ride away for me

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
If one rotten apple spoils the barrel, then I'm afraid that a handful of good apples aren't enough to rescue a barrel fool of rotten apples that's made of earwax.
But remember not to take me too seriously on this matter - the only reason I don't also dislike Melbourne is cause it has AFL matches regularly (and more of its historic architecture intact). I'm just not much of a concrete jungle person.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Omg omg omg! Death! <3
Come on guys. It's Australia. If there's gonna be an Australian meet-up, there's going to be a lot of travelling for a lot of people involved. For sheer Playgrounder concentration, Melbourne's probably gonna be the best bet I reckon (sadly...). Or possibly Sydney. Maybe we should get a rolecall for each...

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Well, I'm in Bendigo for some parts of the year (Uni, some holidays) and in Canberra for others (holidays!).
I also have no job and no money, so the limit of my travel is to the nearby cities.

Vline is only like, $25 return, so you should be fine for that.

You got that right!
All the way from Perth! :smalltongue:

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
I'm tempted to propose we all meet in a place that is obscure and out of the way for all of us, but that's just crazy me talking.

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Meet-up at Uluru!

It's one way to make the travel aspect fair :smalltongue: though it would limit the meetup to those of us with the ability to travel, which wouldn't be as much fun.
I wouldn't have a problem with Melbourne or Sydney. I think the highest concentration of Australasian Playgrounders is Melbourne, but I know Sydney pretty well (I have family there). And considering we flew to Brisbane for the last one, it's clear we don't have much problem with travel. Though I have to say, Melbourne is a shorter trip...

By nearby cities, I'm definitely including Melbourne and Sydney (and a few more out of the way ones that probably aren't relevant, like Geelong or whatever).

Just to give you guys a laugh

Re: Australasia in the Playground V
Ummm... what was wrong with it? Peregrine and I had a look and we couldn't see anything wrong. :smallconfused:
