((You say he advances to engage? Is he 5 ft. stepping or do I get an AoO?))
((5 foot step is sufficient, so no AoO. He may be a wolfkin, but he's not suicidal. :smallamused:))
((It was worth a shot...))
I haven't actually been following it properly so far (my apologies), so here's the official initiative order:
Rattakin 1 \
Rattakin 2 |- due to readied actions
Amana /
Horace
Wolfkin 1 (wounded)
Wrackspurt
Wolfkin 2
Ugruk hasn't rolled yet; I'll work him in as best I can. For now, it's Wrackspurt's turn to rock the casbah.
Wrackspurt aims his crossbow at the hind wolfkin's face, a bit peeved that his bluff didn't work but the thought of this guard never seeing his family again is enough to lift his spirits.
Spoiler[roll0]
And in case you were wondering, the game was flippin awesome
Wrackspurt's bolt connects solidly with the Wolfkin's shoulder (([roll0] damage)). Now both Wolfkin are substantially hurt, but neither are out of the fight yet.
Meanwhile, Amana took a solid hit from the other Wolfkin (([roll1] damage)). Things are looking serious here... and there's still those Rattakin on the roof to contend with!
"Die for me!" Horace shouts, lashing out at the Wolfkin who attempted to attack him.
SpoilerAttack: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1]
No movement or maneuvers or anything this turn, just good ol' fashioned standard attack.
I will remind AnEnemySpy, though, that anyone adjacent to me and another ally is considered flanked, regardless of positioning... and thus sneak attackable.
Amana
Amana lets loose a short scream before cutting herself off."Gah!" That'll smart in the morning...
Steps back and mutters to herself as she unsheathes her longsword, waving her free hand down the length of the sword, causing it to shine dimly. "Maaginen ase."
Spoiler5 foot step back, unsheath longsword, cast magic weapon. Free action, move action, standard action.
((Er.... so what's the etiquette here? Wait for Ugruk, PM him, or carry on without him?))
((This is something we really should have decided before the game began... what to do with absentees... It's smoothest if the DM temporarily plays the character, but I'm not sure how Z would feel about that, since we didn't ask for permission in advance...))
The Rattakin on the roof reload, while Amana's sword blue and Ugruk stands across the street observing, pretending to be an "innocent" passer-by until such time as he's needed.
Horace seems to be handling himself quite well, landing another powerful hit while dancing around the Wolfkin's slower halberd. But the famous Wolfkin tenacity is still a factor, and he's still advancing.
Meanwhile, the one attacking Amana swings again.... (([roll0]))
((Er... yeah, not going to roll to confirm that with a x3 weapon in the first fight. =P Also note that there's alternate dying rules, so you make Fort saves under -10. So yeah, here goes: [roll0]))
And the Wolfkin connects with another powerful blow, knocking a now-limp Amana to the ground!
Just then, something extraordinary seems to be happening on the rooftop....
A black figure vaults up from the ground behind the house, far more gracefully than would be possible without magical assistance, and alights gently on the rooftop behind the two rattakin. Those of you with good vision can see that the newcomer is a stunningly beautiful, red skinned woman in an elegant cloak and a tight-fitting leather jumpsuit that leaves little to the imagination.
Planting her feet, her jaw distorts horribly and she lets out an ear-shattering screech of Infernal origin, catching the two rattakin with the brunt of the blast. They take (([roll0] sonic damage, fort save 18 for half)).
((Unless anyone minds, I'm going to stop rolling in public just to speed things up. Having to post twice or three times for every enemy action is getting frustrating. I'll still post results, of course.))
Both Rattakin are caught totally offguard by the blast, and collapse unconscious, bleeding from the ears!
Wrackspurt reloads and fires his crossbow at the wolfkin who downed Amana. He kinda thought she was cute, in a freakish oversized way.
[roll0]
((Do we have a new player? What Level is she?))
Wrackspurt's crossbow misses its mark, but the Wolfkin fall into disarray and raise their hands in surrender. It's up to you whether to accept their surrender or not...
((Not exactly a new player; Virgo is a friend of mine from the original Santhil campaign, and volunteered to help spice things up. I mentioned this in OOC a little while ago, but apparently nobody checks there. Anyway, consider it a "voiced NPC", who is also active in the world and may help you (or not) depending on how things go.))
((I thought he was going to be playing a recurring villain. Err... hero, I guess. Recurring adversary. Thus I'm only surprised by the fact that she helped us. So far.))
"Surrender?" Horace exclaims in disbelief, "First the gnome tries to talk us into invading the home nonviolently, now the guards try to surrender? Nerull's bones! I came here to watch someone die, and I'm going to make it happen."
Horace grabs the wounded wolfkin he has been fighting.
"For attempting to surrender, dog, you will die on your knees."
SpoilerMighty Throw, using DEX: [roll0]
Wrackspurt walks over to the other one and cuts his finger off with the sharp edge of his spear. "A nice present for you family." Smiling slightly he stads him
((Coup de grace[roll0]Forgot to add my modifier [roll]1d20+5[/roll] I also get my sneak attack))
What the expletive?
[roll0]
((I doubt he's CDG-able, but if you can Coup de Gras him you wouldn't roll attack. CDG is an auto-crit. You just roll damage.))
The fiendish female flies from the rooftop and nods in approval at Wrackspurt's and Horace's actions before she introduces herself. She starts speaking in a sharp language that sounds like water hitting hot rocks, but switches abrupty to common when it becomes clear that nobody understands.
"... Right. We only have a few minutes before the authorities arrive, but I trust you'll clean up these loose ends," She nods casually at the guards before continuing, "So I won't worry about what I say. I'm Andora, Agent Infernal of Baator. I've been assigned by the Powers to monitor your group's progress. I intervened because, well," She looked slightly uncomfortable and pulled a potion of Cure Light Wounds out of her pack and administered it to Amana, "you all display remarkable promise. Still, time is of the essence; do you have a copy of the contract you're working under?"
Spoiler
Hi, guys, I'm Virgo, and, as Zeal said, Amana is an NPC that I have some expierence playing, so Zeal was kind enough to let me continue to voice her. I love what you guys have got going on so far!
((thanks, I've never understood some of these rules
[roll0] + [roll1]))
Lumbering over is Ugruk looking quite frantic
Wow, what did I miss? I thought I saw someone who I knew so I went to talk to them.((Looks down at the bodies))"t's a shame, looks as though I missed all the fun!
((By the way that's a cover up story as to why I never posted. Sorry by the way I was really caught up in recruiting for a game I started DM'ing. And if I don't post for a while feel free to go for me. I don't take any offence to it.))
Wrackspurt shows his copy of the contract to Andora. "Let's go kill that bastard DeFoe!" He doesn't trust Andora (only a fool would trust a devil) but he is willing to work with her for the time being
Andora motioned and the contract began transcribing itself onto another piece of paper. "I'll keep this on file. The Powers approve strongly of order."
She winced at Wrackspurt's outburst, and held up a delicate hand to stop him.
"I'm not going to tell you how to conduct your business, but... Well, my Lord also has plans for DeFoe. If you could refrain from killing him..." She shrugged. "Well, it may turn out to be in your advantage."
"I've intervened to help you, which is something that I'm never supposed to do. So you must tell NO ONE that I aided you. Or that I was even here. Do you need anything else from me before I go?"
Spoiler
At the beginning of the post, Andora cast Anamurensis from the SpC. I'm pretty sure I mangled that spelling, but yeah.
You quickly find keys for the gate on one of the fallen Wolfkin, and enter the premises. The house is set back about 60 feet across a well-groomed garden, with the front door facing you. There are no signs of activity from the house yet.
Amana's now conscious, though critically injured (hp: 2) and possibly disconcerted to see the unfamiliar Andora standing above her.
SpoilerSo... I guess my throw and the subsequent finishing move worked? And I let Andora copy the contract? And all of this happened off screen?
((Sorry, yes - your throw worked, and I'll let you narrate the lethal blow if you want. As for the contract, Wrackspurt showed his. You can also show yours now if you want.))
Wrackspurt cuts the hands off one of the guards "These will make nice gloves, once their shrunken." he says in Gnomish
