Re: The Candle Keeper (Prc)
Some fluff, if you please?
Re: The Candle Keeper (Prc)
Hmm, this wouldn't happen to be based upon the character Candle Jack from that TV series Freakazoid, would it? Ugh, that show was terrible... :smallyuk:
Re: The Candle Keeper (Prc)
Yep. My friend just used them to railroad his group to a place they keep trying to avoid.
One guys goes for roleplaying XP around a campefire and they end up tied up and dragged into a haunted castle five minutes later.
Re: The Candle Keeper (Prc)
Oh god, not Candlejack agai
Re: The Candle Keeper (Prc)
crack on par with Planar Shepherd.
A 5 level PrC obtainable by 5th level, which requires absolutely nothing but a few ranks in a skill and a feat, and make half the classes in the book obsolete overnight. Umm... no.
Rope is especially broken, for a first level ability. Ever heard of Still Spell? And why should it screw with manifesting powers, which don't require somatic components? Bro-ken.
DimDoor is also hediously broken. If you get in trouble, have a party member announce himself and pop yourself back to the party. Not QUITE as broken as a SLA at will DimDoor, but nearly so.
Searing Light every 1d6 rounds? Bro-ken for a non-caster class.
Scream Gaze. At the same time completely broken and completely pointless. Why yes, let's nerf the caster and make any chance of ambush a complete impossibility...
What, did you rifle through the spell section of the SRD and came up with a few things on top of that and threw them together at random for the excuse of shoving it under your GM's nose in the hopes that someone might lend some shred of creditability to it so you can break his game?
Re: The Candle Keeper (Prc)
"You're not a very bright group, are you?"
Perhaps a better capstone would allow the Candle Keeper to go and charter a bus?
Seriously, though; the abilities are wonderfully flavorful, but they are waaaay too cheap. If you put in something like a caster level requirement--a concession, I know, given that Candle J wasn't a magic-user himself--it'd probably be a bit more reasonable, given that it doesn't progress such abilities.
Re: The Candle Keeper (Prc)
The big flaw of the candle keeper is that the candle and the rope eat up both hand slots. Without mutilple hands, you just float around, waiting to tie people up.
Then someone cuts your rope or sunders the candle.

Hehehe... By the way, you may want to rewrite/clean this up a bit, so that is is more easily understood.
