Im guessing since its home made, it isnt made with safe to handle material. Or it could stain/scratch the table if it lands directly on it, things like that. Pete basically hand made this thing, so it cant be high quality. (Though im sure he is really proud of it)

"It's glowing. Why is it glowing?"
"Well, I had all that radium lying around from the dismantled alarm clocks..."

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
The epicness is nearly dangerous levels!

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
The die is solid steel, it has spikes, and there's highly unstable gunpowder in there.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Mechanized dice, perhaps?
I can only imagine what this thing actually looks like. It sounds more like the Cosmic Cube than a simple d20. O_O

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I was Surprised by this strip I was thinking they were just going to make some joke and then have Ben cut Annie down, though I like this turn of events I can't wait to find whats with that die

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I like how even though the in game results are already known the comic manages to create suspense.

I never noticed that.
But the line makes way more sense there than it does at the actual point in the movie it's used.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
... was that a sound effect, or does this die actually announce when it's armed? Knowing Pete, it's not at all out of the question.
"WARNING. RANDOM NUMBER GENERATION IMMINENT. ROLLING IN 3... 2... 1..."

According to the Transcript at the bottom, it's the die speaking there. They differentiate with [SFX] for the Vwooms and Swooshes, but here it's :

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
You know, I totally understand making this roll a special one in as many ways as possible. This is the most epic bit of random chance that can happen in the story line. I cant wait to see the reaction when the dice comes up 1.
"Uh, critical failure, obiwan slices off" /rolls dice "both legs and an arm"
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Maybe it'll come up as less than 1...we dont know how many sides this die has, or even what numbers are on it? It'd be just like Pete to have, say, a 0 on one side, and that come up for a critical critical failure.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Well, we know it won't be 13 or higher. And I never thought the dice could talk, this die must be huge, and likely to explode.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I just think how cool it is that everyone is so deeply into this roll of the dice. I mean, even annie and sally are really into it and while annie is loving the rp factor, she didnt strike me as a gamer nut. So its neat watching them get swept up in their enthusiasm.

I think it's more likely the radioactive glow and ominous hum that the die makes keeping Annie and/or Sally engrossed.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I'm just loving how they made a Noodle Incident out of this die. I don't even want them to show it; just keep piling ridiculous bits of description on.
-
Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I took just one look at the new page, and decided to wait till the next page is up and then read them both together. This is the ultimate finale for a long running campaign.

Anakin also broke either his neck or back during that as well since he has metal implants along his back when Palpatine is using Force Lightning on him in RotJ. Those injuries also permanently damaged his ability to use the Force properly. So Annie will probably get a 1 (or zero, who knows with this monstrosity) and Ben will roll a 20.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
I was thinking that the die would somehow destroy Anakin's character sheet. Tricky to do now that they've taken it outside, though.

Don't be too proud of this polyhedral horror you've constructed. The ability to roll a e^sqrt(pi) is insignificant next to the power of Murphy's Law.

Rolling that would indeed be pretty interesting... I wonder though, did that value have any meaning?

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Im not happy. He basically destroyed all the drama by having them be distracted by some crazy die doing something off screen.

They will next page. Let them have their fun.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
... unless the die sets the GM's house on fire, destroying all the character sheets and forcing them to start a new campaign and roll up new characters. (All but Pete, who naturally keeps an electronic copy of his sheet.)

Genius! And Ben's because... that needs to be toasted halfway into the next session.

Re: Darths And Droids 2: Should've Gone to Naboo
Bishops were originally ships, which had to tack against the wind. When the church realized they weren't represented anywhere on the board, they pulled some strings.
