This is the African Lion, the King of the Jungle (though he could be considered, perhaps more accurately, King of the Savannah). He comes in at a weight of 550lbs, stands 4ft tall at the shoulder and can run at 56kph (roughly 35mph). His typical prey includes antelope, gazelles and zebras.

And this is his opponent, the North American Grizzly Bear. He weighs in at 800lbs, stands 8ft tall on his hind legs and can run at roughly the same speed as the lion. Though he is an omnivore, eating anything from berries to salmon, his diet includes moose, caribou, deer and even the occasional bison.
So, who wins in this mighty battle of carnivores, of East and West? They are both males, the larger and more powerful gender in both species, both in their prime and both with relatively the same experience. The two apex predators meet in an open, lightly wooded area that you could find in either North Amercia or Africa. The sun is shining and the weather is mild Spring weather, neither hot nor cold. Who wins in this clash of predatory titans?
My bets are on the Grizzly Bear, but that's just Canadian prejudices talking.
