How old is this game? Why are 3 of us beating it in the same week four years after it was current?
EDIT: What is it about Rita? For some reason the Tales guys felt that being an offensive caster wasn't OP enough they have to give her all these ways to shorten casting time and not get interrupted and not die in two shots. Much more powerful than Genis was.

"Blah blah blah-TIDAL WAVE!"
Grade-farming is very efficient with her. Make her attacks do 1 damage with an equip and overlimit while the the others taunt. Hundreds of grade come spilling out of the King of the Plains (or whatever his name is, its been months if not a year.)

I actually use her melee attacks alot. It's fun.
*wanders around outside the island casiono-place*And they came upon... a griffin. A Griffin. A GRIFFIN. A GRIFFIN. *is attacked by a blue griffin, laughs so hard Rita died*

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Question: Can I still do the cooking challenge after I beat the final boss? And yes, Rita is awesome.
Also, blah blah blah VIOLENT PAIN! (Look, when you've got Violent Pain as a spell, use a whip as a weapon, like slapping people around, and flat-out admit in a skit that you like "Doling out pain more than receiving it"...)

Yes I'm pretty sure you can. @Sheep Yeah I played the game with two friends from college. One as Repede and one as Rita while I played Yuri though I switched to Raven later on, and we had Estelle on AI. Though we gave her shortcut commands so often that it didn't really matter. We got through most of the game together but I did the last bit alone. It really is just not the same as most of the fun came from us putting words in the characters mouths.

Lots of things here and there. One of the funniest I remember was early at deidon hold when that fortunes market woman comes and asks if you want to take a job, i chimed in "depends what you'll pay me" in a saucy voice, then she holds up a bag of money and yuri looks away disappointed. The timing was just too perfect. Other than that we made the characters much more foul-mouthed than they are in the game and a lot more direct as well. But hey, we're college males.

Eh, I'd definitely chime in with off-color comments and the like as well. But I don't have anyone to play with. Ah well, I always found the Tales AI to be pretty good; even Estelle's was decent with some finagling with the strategy setting.
(Also, best to capitalize Yuri to indicate that it's his name. Though considering Rita and Estelle's antics... :smalltongue: Sorry...It's just...That wasn't subtext. That was text.)

How many party members will there be this time? Six? Seven? Eight?

Foul Mouth-ifying is part of playing a Tales game. Unless you're playing as Lyold and only lyold in Symphonia. he is annoyingly sweary in the beginning.:smalltongue:

Planning on six. Maybe a secret seventh character that will only available in the Japanese version? Oh wait, there is no Japanese version. Really though, only 6.
Guys the main problem I had with the AI was their tendency to start melee-ing when the bosses were close to being dead. All battle, Estelle and Rite, Tidal Wave, Holy Rain, Grand Chariot, Thunder Blade etc, and then about 3/4 of the way through they stop casting and run up to the boss and do two melee hits. This is while the strategy is set to them keeping their distance from enemies, and set to only using magic artes. :smallannoyed:
Duke's third stage had me wasting Limit Bottles for Tidal Wave spam. Him and his annoying status effect lasers. :smalltongue:
Also playing Vesperia has made me think ahead about how crazy panels will be when you have particle effect artes/spells flying everywhere and every monster is bigger than the protagonists.

Huh. I had overleveled looking for item drops, so Duke's third form wasn't too hard--though I did spend a few overlimits Blah Blah Blah TIDAL WAVEing him. Managed to finish off the second form quite easily with an Ancient Catastrophe, which was nice. Ah, the True Knight costume...Makes five hours of Yeager worth it.
...Maybe you should cut down on the effects a bit later on in the comic, so you're not stuck releasing one every six months. :smalltongue:

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
You people know there are ways of fighting that don't involve flooding the entire world right?
Some of us used a bow against the radiant winged one and when we used OL it was for blast heart dangit!

I always used Savage Wolf Fury... but I'm curious why nobody's saying they used Sacred Penance. Cause grave injury and heal your allies, what's not to like?

In dnd terms, mystic arts are Epic spells - they are the most powerful spells in existence and possessing them makes you a demigod in your own right.
Blast Heart is Raven's (the ranger's) mystic art, which essentially causes a massive explosion centered on his location. Sacred Penance is Estelle's (the healer's), it heals all allies and causes damage to all enemies at the same time. Savage Wolf Fury is Yuri's (the main character and swordsman) and causes a large amount of damage in an area of effect around one enemy.
I always thought Rita's (the DPS spellcaster's) was that multi-element thing though... what's this tidal wave stuff?
-
Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
It is. Rita's is ancient catastrophe. A lot of people however just go into overlimit to get the instant spellcasting and then spam tidal wave (which hits the whole field and keeps them locked in a stagger) and use some tricks to make sure they don't run out of TP or OL, effectively making it so they just win by tidal waving forever.

The problem is when the enemy goes into overlimit themselves and are invincible to stagger and stun.:smallamused: But taunting endlessly makes it be an eternity of instant spellcasting and a few hundred combo points before you finally press that overlimit button one second too late. :smallfurious::smallbiggrin:

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
Kay, story for the next 30 or so pages has been actually written out in summary/storyboard form. It's like writing a novel, only I don't have to use proper grammar and I can write them like notes. I think the only thing stopping me is coming up with fantasy names suitable for this kind of JRPG world.
Comic is in the works and will come out sometime this week. In other news, I leave for college in about six weeks.
Also first retcon done, starting town is now called Everes, (pronounced like Mt. Everest only without the T) keeping it similar to its original non-Tales name Eversun. Saria Forest now has its full title as "Saria Forest, The Quiet Den" on the World Map.

I just beat Tales of Symphonia long after it came out, and got a bonus game for buying it called Gun. :smalltongue:
The world is an absurd place sometimes.
and yes, I encountered a similar AI problem with Symphonia with the casters running up to people to deal damage with their stupid melee attacks when they should be using their spells. They sure do know how to program their AI (Artificial Insanity). :smallamused:

Re: Tales of Revelia: JRPG-styled Fantasy Webcomic
See something new besides the new comic?
Yes, now begins an evolutionary period of sorts where I, Teutonic Knight, try to make my comic better. There will be experimentations, and I would like my readers' cooperation in giving honest feedback when I ask stuff like, "Does this look better than before?" Think of it like going to the optometrist (eye doctor), only instead of letter, you will be shown the same comic. So stuff will be thrown at you like zoomed in images exported at higher dpi, mainly. Actually there may not be that much experimentation beyond that. I don't know I think I was thinking of one kind and then I forgot and it's 3:52 in the morning where I am and these are not good sleeping habits for college. What will be comic is a higher standard of quality, that's for sure. Whatever that means remains to be seen.
As for the usual comic comments, close up of Ben, in case anyone wanted one. And yes, Ben's character model is now up to date, all the Bens you've been seeing so far were missing that bracelet. Plot! They are going to the next town, they will sleep at an inn, Aria will show Ben and the readers their course meaning you guys will get a continent map soon (and maybe a world map). And there will be something big for the next comic so expect a while.
And by comic coming out sometime the previous week I meant some time where I feel like I should stop playing Skyward Sword and continue the comic.
Longtext :smalltongue: And at the moment of typing this it's 3:58.

Yes, Skyward Sword AND TF2 Mann vs. Machine have been keeping me from completing this comic.

I liked Mann vs. Machine but could be nice if they had Blu players too.
What I mean by "What happens now" is asking what will happen next in Revelia storyline. I am a "he" if it is about me.
