However, a Special Forces is, in my opinion, no doubt what's needed to fight a superior foe, as in this situation. If you can get a squad of Gorillas and teach them Gorilla warfare, all the better.
Ooh, I'd almost forgotten about the Royal Bear Force. It's definitely one of the most underapreciated army types in the game, (That's easy to understand, since most Bears are big melee types, so people just make them Bearzerkers and don't look back (The Fact that Bearzerkers are the iconic Bear army type that shows up in all the ads probably has alot to do with that. Dog armies have something similar with Legio Canius) . Plus in a normal game it's easier to just slug it out. We'll need to fight smart.
And wait, I just realized. MG has already shown a penchant for building Rockets...and we've got a spy to spot targets for us...
Remember Siryessir's list of favorite ways to take out a superior force. Most people focus stop reading after the top ten, and most of the consists of tactics, rather than specific abilities, however it has a few.
Pull up the list, it's here, ignore all the ones where he quotes Sun Tzu for now (They're all good advice, but that's not what I'm talking about), and focus on #12, its a special maneuver that requires a Royal Bear Force and a tech based class with access to long ranged explosives. It can prove devastating to massed numbers of enemies, or foes in an entrenched position: The Artillery Bearagge

You can't afford any superfluous Singularity in the late game, and adding a graft to a lieutenant just isn't worth it.
Granted, for this game, it might not matter so much. Without a Mechanofortress, MG won't be building any of the high-Singularity minions any time soon (certainly not before somebody takes Castle Bane, at any rate).
Right, well I can't actually play do to a lack of appropriate hardware on my part, and was going by what would seem to be the most effective in this situation.

>SM: Remember that as a GENERICAN CITIZEN you have the constitutional right to ARM BEARS- so check out what weapons CB can use.
In other news, you guys should really check out some of IRC-propagated guides on GenGame that mostly get around the mass deletions that happen on MESSAGE REDACTED|ENJOY GENCOLA. I mean the melee guide by Hazsomuchsw0rd seems pretty well respected by most of the IRC-communities that play GenGame.
-
Re: Let's Play GenGame II: [Message redacted enjoy GenCola]
The only reason Hazsomuchsw0rd is even [Message redacted -- Enjoy Gencola, in the NEW chocolate mint flavor!] is because 2SMKNBRRLES is so hard to understand, Nowucme tends to rant uncontrollably, and the other three of the great five don't really do melee.
actually, 2SMKNBRRLES's guides are so hard to understand, even, that I'm not even sure he was talking about melee.
But I have checked out Hazsomuchsw0rd's guide. Yes, it's fairly good. It doesn't have any of the exploiting goodness of the five, so "followers" are generally less prepared, but it's got good tips and is a generally OK guide.
If only it wasn't just rewriting what the single-player tutorial says.
Oh, yes, I've gone through that tutorial. It's buggier than a dog's backside, only covers melee combat (which is horrible, since only 5% of the classes use it), and is so boring I came out drained, but I've played the tutorial.
Hazsomuchsw0rd had a good Idea when he converted it to a safer format.

Re: Let's Play GenGame II: [Message redacted enjoy GenCola]
Actually, Siryessir does melee, but he's mainly focused on Leadership classes and the tactical side of things. He's the closest thing to a "Melee specialist" that you get among the Five.
I heard he's collaborating with hazsomuchsw0rd on a comprehensive guide to melee classes, but neither of them have confirmed it.
-
Re: Let's Play GenGame II: [Message redacted enjoy GenCola]
Right, forgot all about how siryessir did melee. I always remembered him as the flag-toting, commanding, imposing leader he is. It's... hard to remember what weapon a guy's using when there's a storm of pa-lead-ins coming down on you.
Man, I hate it when the Golem-lands are generated. some of the best units available from there, which is always good for my opponents. I can never get any for myself.
Unrelated note, how many here have ever been randomly matched against any or all of the five in a quick match?

Re: Let's Play GenGame II: [Message redacted enjoy GenCola]
I've had 2SMKNBRRLES join an open game lobby I created once? He was on my side, though.

Re: Let's Play GenGame II: [Message redacted enjoy GenCola]
never ran into any of em myself. seen a few imposors though. (both thosewho admit they are not them, and those that lie)

Re: Let's Play GenGame II: [Message redacted enjoy GenCola]
So has it been established what kind of bear our Caddybear is? Because I see him as something of a BEARTENDER myself, even though that is one of the worse NPC classes that bears have- although there are a few exploits I've heard about that involve BEAR BEER that might be worth considering.
Beyond that, the DYNAMO DERRINGERS that SM picked up, they probably shoot lightning, because they wouldn't just use dynamo for an alliterative name now, would they?

Are we playing the same game? Cause I recently got a Mega Magma Mace, and... it was worse than the Dawn's Light Morning Star I got ten levels earlier, even when fighting enemies weak against fire. It just barely pulled ahead with enemies that resisted light and were weak against fire.
-
Re: Let's Play GenGame II: [Message redacted enjoy GenCola]
They could be using dynamo in the other sense. Which means the guns are actually people! :smalleek:
Or it's just a metaphor for guns that shoot energetic and forceful bullets.

But then again I heard there was actually a hidden alliteration mechanic in the game, meaning that some characters at random will do well with alliterative weapons and other will do badly with them.

Prety sure he just has the common MOOK status. wich is good, because it dosent cut off any classes.
Would be great if we could get him a NAMEPLATE though.

Re: Let's Play GenGame II: [Message redacted enjoy GenCola]
Well... once we get MG back, a Skill Scanner should be simple enough to build, and should reveal important information. Until then... I think the Caddybear should get at least the standard bear defensive build. Raise its Bearricade capabilities, and... wait, which version is this again? I can't remember if Bear Essentials in this game is the one that allows it to find more basic items - which is helpful for most characters - or is the one that is an assist for machinists, allowing them to forgo some materials in building things.
Also, if we can find either an Age Accelerator or Supreme Soldier Syrup, we could make him a Grizzled G.I.

Eh, if he gets enough EXP he'll become Grizzled anyway.

It may be worth using on him if we don't plan on getting many more biological servants/assistant/whatever. MG can make plenty of machines, but those don't work on machines (except the incredibly hard to make and generally not worth it Cybiotic units), so CB may be our only choice, really.

Getting Grizzled G.I. gives the bonus of being Grizzled while at a low level, while also increasing XP gain (theoretically). The bonuses at high level for getting Grizzled through leveling means you won't have the benefits for as many levels as you would with the items I mentioned at lower levels.

Re: Let's Play GenGame II: [Message redacted enjoy GenCola]
Quick note: The next update may be on hold for a week or more. Christmas and the end of the year is approaching and i've got quite a few things on my platter, drawing-wise.
There may not be time for GenGaming during that. :smallfrown:
And in unrelated news... man. Fan Comics? What the hell. I don't even frequent that section. :|

Okay, if that's the case, I'll expand my list of suggestions so that you have way too many to choose from when GenGaming becomes a possibility again... Besides, I only came up with something for SM...
