In my opinion, yes, at least for most of them, as the cards have a good option. Still, I got them all because they were there to be obtained (this was before they were for sale at the Bazaar, you'd draw a card and be able to buy the lodging).

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
gahh.. damnation! finally got the card for the old soldier.. and then managed to fail the relevant skill check because its not one i have practiced very much! :smallannoyed:
edit.
Ohh.. and btw.. do you need to be in your lodging to draw cards specific to it?

If you mean the cards that appear in your deck after purchasing a lodging, no. Though there are some cards that can be only drawn when in your lodgings.

Also, just got my little plant into the tournament of lilies, so if anybody wants to challange me, i would love it.

Join me and Iruka, if we could find a 4th we could reliably continue advancing with each other fairly far into it which would be pretty cool :)
On another note, how far do you have to go into the "Seeking the next breakthrough in the Jack of Smiles Case" before you get to do something different besides waiting for cards?
-
Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
I'm on stage 3 of Tournament of Lilies, I think, if anybody is looking to compete in it. Might only be 2.
-
Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
Once I got the tournament part, I just uprooted my lily so I would stop getting all the damn cards for it.

If you're at 2 I am as well so send me a request, I'm assuming my info was added in the OP ^^
-
Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
starwulf, you're not in the op. could you link your mantle piece so we can add you.
The PoSI grind is really annyoing me. i just want a zubmarine so i can keep going with the jack of smiles case
-
Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
Assuming this: http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/P...EchoId=1741924 Is the mantlepiece thing, I linked this the last time I was asked ^^

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
When it comes to the Tournament, I tend to accept any challanges - but don't care about the thing to issue them myself.

9 I think. Though not all the steps before that require "Seeking".

Once your "Attending to" reaches a certain level (18? 19? can't remember) the cards stop completely - while uprooting means you'll get the first card from time to time.

It stops once you get it to 19.

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
I got a card, A Gift from the Capering Relicker.
It seems like it has a lot of options that are really good, but i cant use any of them besides the one that gives primordial shrieks.
Is it worth holding on to it, or should i just take the shrieks now?
-
Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
You should take the shrieks. The card comes up every time to cap your 'someone is coming' stat. Unless you buy a story with Fate you won't get another option until you sell your soul or become a PoSI.

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
Alright thanks for the advice.

So that is why I've stopped getting those cards. I sort of miss them (how am I supposed to get counterfeit heads now?).

Lose in the competition so it falls below 19, then you'd draw them again until it reaches 19 again.
The fate-locked gifts from the Capering Relicker give ~10 echoes (IIRC, probably exactly 10) of other goods. The PoSI one gives 12 echoes of Visions of the Surface, making it, once available, the best (IIRC).

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
What are the "Boxful of Intrigue" for? and why can't I find it in my inventory? I have 14 of them now, and according to the wikia: Note: This is a grindable carousel that will gain 7 Stolen Kisses, 35 Compromising Documents, 35 Strangling Willow Absinthe or 8 Mourning Candles after 14 actions (assuming no failures).
And yet, I can't even find them in my inventory ><
-
Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
It's a Quality that acts like an item so it doesn't have to increase through Change Points. After accumulating 13, you should be granted access to a storylet in Spite that allows you to either trade them in for the rewards you mentioned or progress to the next step of the story.

That is a quality much like "Seeking the next breakthrough in the Jack of Smiles Case" - you won't find it in your inventory. You should have a storylet available in Spite that uses it.

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
Woot! Thanks for the quick responses :) It's a shame that the wikia is so unhelpful, I've tried to refer to it for about a dozen different things so far and it never has an actual answer. What's the purpose a wikia that has no answers?! Oh well, I have a forum full of nice people ^^
-
Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
I'm currently on a voyage on scientific discovery; I've been to one island and am currently on another, but aren't there three I can go to? I only have options for two that I can see.

Which one? There are two, one of which I believe is terribly out of date. The up to date one doesn't always explain everything, but is helpful (I consulted it to determine how you'd get Comprehensive Bribes and Legal Documents), although I probably am not the best example, due to the amount of time I've been playing.

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
I find that the wiki is great at explaining where to get items, but terrible for answering general questions.
Also, I am currently uncovering secrets framed in gold. I seem to be getting increasing hints that this might ruin my acquaintance with the Repentant Forger. Is it worth continuing?

There's actually options you can take that doesn't use up your friendship. But those tend to be generally more expensive.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but even if you lose it, you can meet him again.

Re: Fallen London 3 - "The God-Eaters"
I'm in the Sea of Voices, I've just left the island there, should I go to Polythreme or are there particular things I should bring there?
