I do the first three in the top row: Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius. Do they react the same way?
As you press them, they glow as you expect. As you wait you hear a familiar blaring sound as water begins to pour into the room. It fills faster than the last time, as you briefly glance at the wall you can see why, the runes that weren't etched as deeply are hemorrhaging water.
I look around to see if there's anyplace I'm supposed to swim to.
There is nothing in this room, except the runes and door leading back into the hall beyond.
I guess I swim back out into the hallway.
It isn't quite deep enough to swim at first. However, by the time you get 1/4 into the hall it is.
(Athletics check for swimming please.)
[roll0] to... is this to avoid banging my head against the wall, or just to keep it above the water?
(It is for you to maintain control of your speed and direction so you aren't bashed into a wall or other hard surface with force, thus taking damage. Which you quite successfully did by the way.) Do you want to stay in place, continue along, go back into the room? What are your goals and actions here?
Well, I'd assumed the purpose of the water was to carry me somewhere, but you implied there was no obvious exit in the ceiling of the room I was in. So I was going to go out into the hallway to look for the exit the water is meant to let me reach.
As you swim along, you take your time and look for any exits. You get to the end of the hallway and you see two doorways, one on each side. They are both above the floor, but within reach given the height of the water. You start to swim towards them and that is when you notice that they are getting further away. You look around for a second and realize the current has switched and the water is receding back into the room.
Do I notice any handholds in the wall that will still be in reach when I get to the doorways, if I start pushing myself right now?
If not, I start swimming back to the room with the runes, eventually letting that turn into a walk when I reach the ground.
There are no handholds, but if you act quickly, with a bit of effort you may be able to reach the ledge of the doorways. There is one on the right and one on the left.
Can I see any of what's behind them from the water level? And how far apart are they?
There is one on either side of the hallway, so 15' apart. There are no doors, so you can see the same cave like structure continues into each room. As you look around, you remember the door on the left is the one you came out of.
I quickly swim to the door on the right.
(Athletics check to climb as the water has gone down)
[roll0] for the climbing.
You are easily able to swim up and use your momentum to scramble up onto the ledge above, despite your wet hands and feet. You pull yourself up and find yourself standing in the doorway of another 15'x15' room. On the far side is another doorway.
I look around as I walk towards that doorway. Anything of note?
Just a plain, cave-like room. Beyond the doorway you see another hall, again about 30' below your current height.
(Investigation check if you'd like to search for something. Athletics to climb down. You could try acrobatics to leap down.)
(I figured if there was something plainly there, or if there was nothing there at all, you wouldn't make me roll, and that you'd tell me to roll if there was something hidden.)
(Anyway, I know I could try Acrobatics, but I have a higher Athletics, so I'm probably better off doing that. [roll0] to climb down.)
(Edit: I'm not sure I like that result, but I'm sure I wouldn't have liked a seven.)
You begin to climb down. You are still wet from your recent swim, and you slip and fall part way down. Luckily, you find the floor is only about 5' below you as you land unharmed but sore from the climb. As you look around there is an all too familiar looking hallway. It is dark except the minimal light above you, and it seems that it goes on far out of sight given the depth of the shadows. The hall itself is 10' wide and a rough, natural rock material.
I pick myself up and keep walking.
You walk a very familiar feeling walk down the dark hallway. After a short while you see an all too familiar sight of a closed door in front of you. The hinges are on the left and it again seems to open away from you.
Is there any keyhole or window to look through?
And is there any sound coming from the other side?
If there's neither, I just open it.
There is no sound. It isn't locked and there is no window. You open the door and see a familiar sight in front of you, a large smooth wall covered in runes. Unlike the previous times though, the entire wall is covered in runes. A quick count tells you there are probably 100 runes, but they aren't organized neatly like before.
I walk in a straight line towards the wall and push the nearest five. What happens?
As you press 5 random symbols, you hear two loud bangs followed by a heavy metal on stone scraping sound.
Did the two loud bangs seem to coincide with any two symbols? And does the door behind me seem to have sealed itself shut or anything?
Do the symbols start glowing? And if so, do they stay that way?
The symbols glowed as you first touched them, but immediately faded. As you look around, it appears that the door behind you has shut. Looking around, you notice that there is a second door in this room that is also now shut.
