The nurse laughs at the comment about being champion, in a nice way though. I always love the energy that new trainers bring. So many of them start to become grumpy and pretentious around the fourth badge or so. A positive outlook on life is always the better option.
I actually have a job that you could do if you want some money. She reaches underneath the counter and pulls out a stack of envelopes. Of course, you can make more money doing some jobs for shopkeepers, but they usually require a pokemon in order to do them. Until I'm done with your Arlo though, I have notices that you can deliver.
She hands you the stack. I can pay you $25 for each notice you deliver. Nothing too difficult to find so long as you have your pokegear's map up. Like I said, you can make more money elsewhere once I've healed Arlo up, but this is a good way to make some quick cash until then. Just bring back the ones that you don't want to deliver. What do you say?
Spoiler
Show
25 dollars per letter, 15 minutes to deliver each one (approximately), you have 15 letters. 2 hours until Arlo is ready to do things again. If you take the job of course.

"So, how'd your battle go? You obviously won, but was it as agonizingly close as mine?" Marcus asks, wincing slightly as he remembers just how close to losing he came.
I certainly hope not, I want to rise up quickly.
In response to the question about your battle, he smiled and released his pokemon. It was a Lotad, one of the sillier looking pokemon out there. I'm afraid that Lily here is part grass type, making the battle pretty easy. Is your Froakie ok? He looked pretty beat up after the battle.

There's no point in chasing down a pokemon that wants to build up its strength by fleeing. Instead I chose to counter your move by raising my own defenses. But I will gladly come to you now. God only knows where the mud came from though, and it certainly was going to ruin the carpet that Androssi had lain out.

"He's doing fine now," Marcus says with a grin. "Took a bit at the Center but he should be just fine now. Kind of wanted to battle, but it only looks like older Trainers are here right now. I'd battle you but, well," Marcus says with a shrug. "Grass Type!"
"Wait, actually," Marcus says with a slow grin. "You're pribably going to Central, right? What if we meet up in a day or two, battle, then head out? Both of us can catch some new Pokemon, even the odds, then we can get out of here. What do ya say?" Marcus asks, rather proud of his plan.

Ray perked up, rather happy for the conversation. Sitting around wasn't exactly as exciting as it might have seemed at first. He brushed several errant strands of green hair back, his smile growing as he tried to answer each question in order, "Yup! Thanks. Definitely! Nice to meet you too, Yellow." The boy looked around again, considering his question for a moment before asking, "Jasper should be getting his TM soon. Would you wanna battle maybe after your pokemon gets healed?"

I can't just leave Arlo here... And I can't just leave half of them undelivered!" He says, running his fingers through his hair. "Can I come back and Arlo before I finish delivering them all?"

I was actually planning on going to Thousand Acre Ranch first Puck replied. And I'd love to battle in a day or two. I was actually hoping that we could go hunting for wild pokemon together though. It'd be a lot easier to handle if a large group attacks us. If not, I get it, but I thought that I'd offer.

That'd be fun! We could also go hunting for wilds too if you wanted to. I'd be fine with either, as both are going to be good experiences.

Puck smiled. That sounds wonderful! I'll have to get some new pokemon though, because Lily won't be able to handle Teller's poison types. He scratched his head with a curious look on his face. I'm not sure exactly where we'd find wild pokemon though. I mean, obviously in the wilds. You have any ideas?

Great! she exclaimed. I saw a berry patch a little ways from here, so we could try and find some pokemon there.
It was at that precise moment that the Nurse came up to you, Both of your pokemon have been fully healed, and we applied the Struggle Bug TM to the Joltik as well. She handed one ball to you and another to Yellow, who quickly released a small bug type pokemon with four legs onto her shoulder.
This is Perry, she's great. She's a bug/water type and she's suuuuuper good at attracting wilds. Yellow blurted this out as if introducing an old friend.

Your experience told you that many wild pokemon would head to water, usually a river or a pond. The water kept them hydrated, although this was mainly pokemon from the Field living group and other furred pokemon. From maps of the area between here and Central, you knew there was a river about half an hour's walk out of town that would likely attract several wilds.

"Ok then!" Dominic says, giving a quick thumbs up before grabbing the stack of envelopes and running out the door. Stopping a minute to get his map set, a good learning experience for the pokegear, he heads for the stops. Practically running half the time, he thinks he makes good time, only stopping to grab a bottle of water. Before long, it's time to go get Arlo from the center.
Pushing open the door, he steps into the refreshing air conditioning and waves at the nurse. "I'm back for Arlo!"

The nurse was currently in conversation with a young woman who you remembered from the trainer test. She was well muscled in a lean sort of way, and she wore her hair cropped short in a pixie cut. She wore practical clothing, boots and cargo pants. At the sound of your voice, the girl turned around. Ah, I was waiting for you to get back. You're that guy from the test who dissed everybody after winning. I suppose you had reason to considering we were the only two to pass, but I'm here to take up that offer on a battle and show you what a real trainer battles like.

Puck glanced at the map and nodded. That should be easy enough to find. And our pokemon will have an advantage in the water.
The two of you headed out, taking the road to Central a little ways before cutting into the woods to find the lake. "Thank you, Ma'am," Ray said to the nurse before taking the pokeball back. He released Jasper about as quickly as Yellow did her pokemon and the little Joltik climbed up to his shoulder. The boy waved to the girl's bug pokemon, not really sure which one it was, "Hello, Perry! This is Jasper, he's a bug type and an electric type!"
He put the pokeball away, preferring to have Jasper on his shoulder, "Let's go look for some pokemon, though I gotta get back home before it gets too late."
