DO you think Dwarves in goblinsverse are endangered since Forgath said that ancient dwarven clans were wiped out by goblins? Ya know, like Warhammer Dwarves?
-
Re: Goblins VIII: This Thread Contains An Unexpected Variable
Nah, it just means that aincient clans were wiped out, as in wiped out a long time ago.
That and/or new clans have been forming to take their place.

Here's the source (feel like giving it).
Isn't it strange that I am talking about Dwarves with a guy who like Goblins?
P.S- Min Max is officially

Someone who likes goblins =/= someone who hates dwarves.
just sayin.

Like Warhammer Dwarves? Warhammer dwarves aren't endangered. Just isolationist. I find it FAR more likely that Thunt was adding in some backstory as to why Dwarves might have an innate racial bonus for fighting Goblinoids.
Aside from that, Forgath just doesn't seem to be implying Dwarves are endangered at all. If they were I think he'd be a bit angrier and probably bring it up specifically, instead of being all "Wait, aren't we supposed to hate each other?"

Do you guys took Surivival Class, cause they need something to carry? Helmets? You could use it if you want your head splitted!
Okay, so Dwarves are not dying (Well, WH dwarves were kind of dying since they've been hit hard by evil forces).
-
Re: Goblins VIII: This Thread Contains An Unexpected Variable
Eh, not really a loss to not use the helmet. It made a lousy bowl anyway.
-
Re: Goblins VIII: This Thread Contains An Unexpected Variable
oh, they'll figure out a way to carry the healing river. they're PC's, they are supposed to figure out crazy ways to accomplish such things.
….that is, what I would say if this was an actual game. its not, therefore its more likely that as protagonists, they will have just leave it behind, or somehow screw things up so that they punch a hole or something, thus making it be gone forever. Pity. :smalltongue:

Re: Goblins VIII: This Thread Contains An Unexpected Variable
Except that it is a game. They have players, even if it's rarely mentioned and the players are absolute masters at immersion and remaining in character.

Minmax and forgath themselves are not the players, they are real people who were born, grew up, feel pain, and all that. the players merely exist in another dimension and more or less unknowingly dictate or chronichal their actions.

The bit where Minmax snogs Forgath kinda contradicts that, not to mention the new adventurers party in both incarnations.

Minmax says YOUR played by a girl, not YOU ARE a girl. minmax believes its okay to kiss forgath, because his player is a girl, meanwhile minmaxes player believes its okay for minmax to kiss forgath, because forgath's player is a girl. (heck maybe he LARP'ed it:smallwink:)
The Drow characters are a little more confusing yeah, best excuse i can think of is bad reincarnation or something... idk, they haven’t shown up in awhile though, so its hard to say.
what it is (and might be for the drow) is that the CHARACTERS are aware of the PLAYERS existing as real people, but the players themselves do not know or believe that the characters are real people, to them everyone is just a name on a piece of paper.

Re: Goblins VIII: This Thread Contains An Unexpected Variable
Normally I'd suggest climbing back up that wall to cut a section of one of those trees above, hollow it out, and hey now you have a simple container.
However, this takes a fair bit of time, and they are in a race. Hopefully they remember that before too long.

Am I the only one who suspects a sort of ironic deathtrap here? Death by drowning in healing potion? I mean, the giant vat of the stuff plus a fairly confined space with nowhere for the liquid to go if the drain is blocked, and a forest of autoreplicating burning trees up top?

Its possible, but my theory is more along the lines of, this dungeon is designed to be a grueling race to the finish line. There is no time for 15 minute days as you rest after every encounter, so the maze has this in it as sort of a waypoint for the teams that didnt make it through on a walk like not walter and alt max would have up till then. Here is a chance to heal all your injuries to this point. You wont get the spells back, but at least you are at full hp again.

problem is, it would be the same regenerating wood they just escaped from, and there is no telling what effect the healing potion would have on the wood itself….

Re: Goblins VIII: This Thread Contains An Unexpected Variable
Does anyone else think it looks like Forgath caught a bad case of derp-face in panel 1?
-
Re: Goblins VIII: This Thread Contains An Unexpected Variable
Yuck, healing potion mixed with dwarf head sweat and hair. :smallyuk:
Also there's totally a swimming or amphibious monster in there constantly getting healed by the water. Possibly it either attempts to drown people, try and lift them away from the water while damaging them or just doing some magic/poison/whatever that makes the healing water have the opposite effect.

Not to mention one of the reincarnated drow characters is wandering around as a samurai and the others call him out on it (can't find the link at the moment).

Aww...:smallfrown: Dies' storyline is my less favourite of the three.
Oh, well, I'll just have to wait another couple of months.

His name "Dies Horribly" is probably fulfilled even though his deal with devil was nullified because of his "soul" arm. I think the prophecy meant "Dies Horribly Once" or "Horrible at dying".

It's also the only theory that has been specifically debunked by the author.

It's pretty plain to me. He died horribly. Then he was brought back. Doesn't mean he didn't die.
