Hm, I think it makes some sense that Kat looks like an abomination to Zimmy. After all Zimmy is very strongly connected to the ether and Kat is pretty much the antithesis of etheric... The more interesting question is: Why all of a sudden? What has changed about Kat that she looks like that now but didn't before?
HOLY! FREAKING! ...
There aren't words enough for this.
Run away. :smalleek:
In Abrahamic religious texts, angels are generally described as horrific eldritch abominations. There's a reason they say "Fear not" a lot.
So yeah, that's Kat the Robot Angel.
Whoa.
That's...what...are there things coming out of her eyes? A robot angel?
My theory is that when Zimmy does her thing, she becomes more aware of the etheric world for a short time after. That's why she only noticed Kat's etheric form after getting thrown by Annie.
If so, would Annie see it too?
:smallconfused: Not sure about that. The way I remember it the angels who visited Abraham looked like ordinary men. But then, given your current location, you may know better. :smallwink:
Nevermind. Kat is her own kind of angel.
This is the best page ever and is now my new desktop.
An Angel of SCIENCE!
I wonder if that's how the robots of the court see her.
Kat's angel wouldn't look out of place on Phyrexia.
I always thought that was just the highest sphere, which is pretty capital-W Weird. The ones that are sent to talk to humans are usually from the lowest orders, angels and occasionally archangels, which are fairly human-like. For like reason, I always thought that the "be not afraid" tended to be more because in the Old Testament, when they needed to send an angel descending in celestial chorus to bear the Word of God directly to humanity, cities and people tended to end up getting verily smote with extreme prejudice. It's not like there were even all that many, but it tends to stick in people's memories.
Not that it contradicts the idea of this being Robot Angel Kat, of course.
Well I have this theory that Kat's parents are actually ghosts or backups of themselves that they made before they died in that etheric computer thing they use. Today's comic gave rise to a consequential supporting theorem. I now speculate that Kat is not a person but essential an etheric programming construct. Hence in etheria she simply appears to be a lot of metal and wires bound together in a vaguely humanoid form. The robots could still see her as godly as she is essentially a robot in the ether.
Everyone always freaks out when Ketrak stops in to say hi. I'm sure he's quite friendly.
:smalleek: Whoa, just saw it for the first time.
...So, page turn surprise? Page turn surprise.
How did Slidell decide on whether or not to include the pink hairband? HOW??
......WHATS GOING ON!
I mean, this just baffles.
I suspect Kat has been dozing besides Annie's hospital bed. That Zimmy stepped into her and Annie's dreamscapes, set everything aright, and now is fleeing Kat, too terrified to stick around anymore. But not before uttering some wisdom that may have profound consequences.
It makes you wonder if it was fear of Kat that kept Zimmy from immediately trying to help Annie, or if she just didn't want to get involved and Gamma pointed out to her, she had to, no one else could do it.
So Kat looks like that all the time to Zimmy? Seems to explain her attitude towards Kat all this while.
Yay, Annie's awake!
Yay, Kat's awake!
Yay, the headband is gone!
That's about it.
Awww, a not-awkward hug! Maybe she will realize Annie's not going to judge her.
Also, Annie seems really cheerful. It's been a long time since we saw her smile like that. I wonder if she's feeling better than she has in a while because the bone spears are gone?
You don't often see her give a full tooth smile.
Usually it's that quiet little Mona Lisa grin.
Still, I am not sure if she is necessarily cheerful in that last panel.
Off the current topic, but I've been rereading the archive and I can't believe it took me so long to realize why the laser cows don't tend to Sir Young's monument in the Park. D'oh
Here's a hint.:smallwink:
It also sorta explains why the cow was hostile to Elgamore, if Elgamore inherited Young's position at the school. Or those cows are just jerks.
