When answering a question about the OOTS poster, I only just now spotted the Snarl eyes at the top (for the record, I've never bought the poster but I've looked at it before).
Also, speaking of the poster, who's the guy in the red down by Thanh on the "good" side? I think it's Sir Francois, but I'm not sure.

It's not 5 seconds for four miles, it's five seconds for one mile.
I think I have it. The premise here is that the lightning struck 4 miles away. Granted, a druid should know better, but since this isn't just any lightning -- this is Thorrrr!, and since the strike has the balloons and ships in a not-too-far distance being distressed from some quicker effects accompanying the lightning, then it's probable that the lightning was indeed only one mile away.
The druid should have known better, but he probably just doesn't know how the Northern gods do things around here.

still more likely to be the thunder travels a mile a second, even if it has absolutly no grounding in conventional EARTH physics (though in a world where reading a book for a while lets you shoot fire from your fingertips, the laws of physics there may be a little lax).

Oh my god...
In strip no. 407, when Miko falls (after killing Shojo), her cloak...IT CHANGES FROM BLUE TO DULL BROWN!
Wow.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
...:smallconfused: Are you joking? I honestly can't tell.
While I'm far too lazy to check in Phantasm's post for this, I'm 99% sure that Word of Giant has the Sapphire Guard's clothing only blue if they're a paladin. Those that fall do find themselves in an ugly brown outfit. :smalltongue:

Much like the world used to be black and white (evidence; old photographs), thunder USED to travel at one mile per second. OOTS is still a medieval world, so thunder still travels at that speed.

If the lightning really struck four miles out, yes.

Allow me to propose an even simpler (sort of) modification to this already good theory. Notice how the huge lightning bolt curves up to the right? That lightning bolt must be at least three miles long! :smallwink: So in the first shock they're being hit by the thunder from the lightning at the top right--and Leeky's "four miles" was talking about where it actually touched the water.

MITD's eyes glow differently in the panel where he says "Escape!"
If this helps any of you with the MITD thread, hey, bonus.

I only now noticed that even Kilkil is on the poster of the good/bad guys, right next to Malack. And he's now part of the linear guild.

Sound travels at 1100 feet per second.
There are 5280 feet in a mile.
That's 4.8 seconds to travel a mile.

Yes?
It's a hell of a lot closer to four seconds than four miles and 19.2 seconds was. :smallconfused:

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Hmm. In the fourth panel of this strip, the arrow is deflected (presumably from some Protection From Arrows effect or similar)... but it wasn't actually going to hit Redcloak anyway. It bounces off the air just next to him, just because the bubble's that big.
Random small detail.
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Protection from Arrows provides damage reduction. The “Deflect” sound effect suggests a deflection bonus to AC. Such a bonus is usually flavored as a field of force of some type surrounding the character in a similar way and causing attacks to veer off harmlessly. Shield of Faith or a ring of protection could offer such a bonus.
Also: You got a double post you might want to fix.

Did not notice. Woops.
I'm really bad about that lately.
As for the arrow thing; Protection From Arrows is shown, for better or for worse, as a deflection effect here. Arrows bounce off in the first panel, and V explicitly calls it out as Protection From Arrows in panel 6.
It doesn't look the same as V's bubble or Redcloak's non-effect anyway, but that could be artistic evolution. We'll never know for certain.

What Shhalahr said, but also you could think of it as implying that it wouldn't have hit him even without that effect.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Right. I, uh, I said that. That was really all I was trying to say; the only interesting thing about it was that it bounced off but wasn't going to hit him anyway. :smalltongue:

Ah, right, I meant attack-roll-vs.-AC-wise, and I thought you meant direction-of-the-arrow-wise. Of course they're kind of the same.

Yeah. I figured she rolled a 3 or something, and it was going way off course.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
In the strip with all of the prophecies, I just realized that the three panels of Xykon and his army match up to form a continuous picture.
