Avatar Theme Week Central 5: Don't stop the theming!
Welcome to Theme Week!
After the last one of these threads died, I am hoping we can bring it back to life. And, maybe, hopefully, we can finally, FINALLY!, have Formally Naked Dragon With Poor Eyesight Running Away From Pie Week. So, feel free to contribute, participate, lurk, contribute some more, and have fun.
This thread will be for suggesting new theme ideas and discussing old ones. To request, discuss, or show off avatars, consult the individual threads for each theme.
Theme Weeks
Spoiler: 2010
Show
Christmas 2010
Comic book week - Nov 21, 2010
Halloween 2010
Video Game Week - Oct 10, 2010
Talk Like a Pirate Day 2010 - Sept 19, 2010
Monty Python Week - Sept 12, 2010
Critical Success/Failure Week - Aug 1, 2010
Nationality Week - June 27, 2010
Victorian Week - May 24, 2010
Pokemon Week - May 10, 2010
IN SPACE! - March 22, 2010
Gender Bender week - Feb 15, 2010
Warhammer 40k week - Jan 17, 2010
ON FIRE! week - Jan 4, 2010
Here's how things happen:
The process for choosing a new week is currently as follows:
1. Nomination phase: People nominate new weeks by suggesting their Theme Week Idea in bold.
2. Voting phase: All of the nominated weeks are listed and each person can vote for their top three choices in bold red. You may also vote for a week. It may be good to have a week every 4 weeks so there is time for nominating and voting, and so we aren't changing avatars too frequently to keep up with.
3. Yay! We Won! phase: Once a week is chosen, one of the supporters for that week should make a separate thread for the theme week in question and then link it in this thread so I can add it to the archives above.

Let the theme weeks, begin (again)!

Re: Avatar Theme Week Central 5: Don't stop the theming!
IT'S BEEN SO LONG.
Okay, I'm nominating the theme of Alternate Art Style.
(By which I mean, let's say, if you have an OotS-style avatar, you could make a pixel one, or a realistic one, or an anime-style one, or one of the dozens other styles that exist!)

Re: Avatar Theme Week Central 5: Don't stop the theming!
As required:
Formally Naked Dragon With Poor Eyesight Running Away From Pie Week

Re: Avatar Theme Week Central 5: Don't stop the theming!
Asian Week ... a tribute to the old Kung Fu, Samurai, or Bollywood movies!

I nominate Appeal to Obscurity Week, where you dress up to promote something that you think needs more love and exposure.
-
Re: Avatar Theme Week Central 5: Don't stop the theming!
That's formerly naked, Duck. :smalltongue:
But I still think
Animal Week
Hat Week
Rain Week
Art Week

Re: Avatar Theme Week Central 5: Don't stop the theming!
If we give two weeks for nomination and two weeks for voting, we have one theme week each month. The two weeks of nomination seems a little stretched, but one theme week a month sounds okay.
What do you guys think?
-
Re: Avatar Theme Week Central 5: Don't stop the theming!
One a month has been done, but I think it depends on the workload for the avatarists. How hard is it to do ( since I am an avatar beggar myself) ?
-
Re: Avatar Theme Week Central 5: Don't stop the theming!
It really doesn't take much time, usually around half an hour for me, but a bigger problem is priority. How important is it compared to other things?

(Nope; it is formally. As in 'formally dressed'. Except naked so it's contradictory. That's part of the joke)

I checked after I got that response, and didn't change it upon finding it was correct.:smalltongue:
AlsO: Explosion Week could be fun.

Re: Avatar Theme Week Central 5: Don't stop the theming!
I'd love a Steampunk week, but looks like one of those happened pretty recently.
In that case, seconding Cyberpunk.

Cyberpunk was already nominated, and we have not gotten to voting yet. I hope more people show up, but we may have to make do with what we have.
If this was meant to be a vote, it should be done in the voting phase and in bold red.

Re: Avatar Theme Week Central 5: Don't stop the theming!
Oops.
Evil Twin Week then.

That may be a little difficult for me...
Also, I prefer Formally NDRAFEP to Formerly NDRAFEP.

I like the idea of keeping the original, but then my original plan of a bowtie and monocle would not be as related to the theme.

Re: Avatar Theme Week Central 5: Don't stop the theming!
To be precise, here is the thing that probably kept it going, thanks to Kris.

'Cause then Rawhide put it as his avatar for a while.

It's meant to be deliberately confusing, contradictory, over specific and weird as possible. I'm not sure weither you arguing on the words makes me very amused or very sad.
Do whatevr yu will with it but for the sake of the original joke, it's 'formally'

The fun thing is that he didn't like the theme and made the avatar out of frustration so Rawhie would stop nominating at every vote.
Anyhow:
Hat week
Asian week
Rain week
