Can I quote that little bit?
Also, my plan would be much easier. Helm of Opposite Alignment. If she's LN, I'm sorted. If she's LE, I'm VERY sorted. If by some reasoning she's LG... I still have more chance than if I leave her as normal. XD

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Technically she's LS - Lawful Stupid.
Maybe you'd get a blackguard Miko that thinks she's always wrong but she's actually usually right?
-
Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Lix Lorn: ohhh yeah smite me honey!
Miko: SMITE EVIL!!
Lix lorn: ohh do it again!
Miko:... how are you not dead?
Lix Lorn: protection from sexy baby!
Miko: :smalleek:
yeah i pretty much fail at that XD

Well that would be less annoying...

Not really, just a lot easier to push around.

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Meh, I'll leave you to your Mikotic fantasies, Lix. I still have to finish up that ship...

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Oh, please, Blue. If I'm gonna fantasise, I'll pick someone logical!

LS + Helm of Opposite Alignment = Chaotic Awesome?

Chaotic Awesome Funky.
I assume Miko was a Square.

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Point, point.
My image of Miko in black armour, leading a unit of skeletons in a heavy metal dance, is in my head. It is awesome.

Go ahead, if you wanna put it in one. XD

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Some of your Photobucket pictures are missing.

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
It is surprising how people picture the characters different in their head. Although the pictures are excellant I pictured :elan: and :haley: looking much older. They look like they were about 15 or so. I definitely pictured :haley: curvier but that may be because I like women with curves.

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
I've sifted through 33 pages of discussion to bring you this message:
I approve of this! It's very nice indeed. I'm especially fond of badass-Miko as well as Tsukiko (rawr) and Redcloak.
EDIT: An amateurish colouring flicked together in GIMP:
EDIT II: The first closeup of Nale could actually be an okay avvie. So could the final pic of him if not for the speech bubble :smallannoyed:

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga

Picking of the nits:
1.) Nale and Elan are twins. Ergo, they should have matching eyes. Red eyes don't look right on a yellow-blond person anyway...
2.) Use layers. It's fairly obvious you didn't, since the fill left an obvious white margin around nearly every ink line.
3.) The undershirt beneath the chain shirt should be colored. It's not exactly obvious when you read the reference strip, but if you go back to #001, you'll see that Elan was wearing a green tunic/shirt. It's pretty logical that his undershirt is that same one, and so Nale's would also be a similar article.
And finally,
4.) Use shading. Makes things a helluva lot more dynamic. Even "cel" style shading is better than flat colors. Look up some tutorials or something and practice. It'll look bad at first, but keep it up and you should be able to get something decent.

But he's EVIL! :smallwink:

This is probably the biggest help right here. Layers help with the coloring (software like GIMP is the go-to here, if you're on a budget), and also with shading. You stick the line drawing on one layer, put the colors on a second layer (or one for each color, if you so feel), and the shading on a third layer. Set the top two layers to multiply. This means that the black lines of the drawing will "bleed through" to the top, and when you color, it'll allow you to brush close in. It also means that if you use a single color (gray) on the shadows layer, it'll automatically darken the colors beneath, so you don't have to figure out what to use for shading.

Actually, you don't need the third layer in this case. Elagune shades his own drawings. Just make the second layer transparent. Though the bottom one contains a small error with the boot.
Both of these were Drawn by him, and colored my me:

Unless you're ready to spend $1000+ on software, GIMP is the image manipulation program. It's Photoshop, but free. Of course, I don't know if they've fixed the total lack of CMYK support (a good thing to have when planning to make prints) yet...

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
I have also sifted through 33 pages of discussion to say that I really like what you said about Eiichiro Oda. So much so that I have put it in my sig. Keep this thread in mind for blowing off steam and you'll know when the time is right to do another one.

Its a genre thing. Elagune explained that the eyes are mutable in manga and that the red signified his rage, not that he had different eye color.

He's only drawn in black & white so far for the pages he's done, and it's informal anyway, he doesn't need to get complicated.

By shading, you mean grey tones? Elagune does use line shading and has explained his fondness for black & white.

I got the same complaint when I tried. :smalltongue:

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
On the flip side, I really, really liked the different background colors. Spiced things up a lot.
-
Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Prime, that's nice, imho
I'd definitely consider trying to do another one if someone could explain that particular layer-thing to me. I use GIMP and know what layers are, and I had read the comment earlier in the thread, but I simply didn't understand the technique. To not clutter up the thread, one of you two who were so keen to help might be able to send some step-by-step introduction to me by PM?
Thanks

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
When did the new Tsukiko pic get drawn? I've been following the thread since the beginning and didn't notice it. Which is crazy coz Tsukiko is my favourite character in the entire comic.

what bout Miko in black doing that...Thriller dance with back up dancer zombies ( i assume its thriller and micheal jackson, the one where you have the clawed hands shifting from side to side)
all the while her expression is completely serious.
Dance Fighting ftw!

Love the art, love Xykon, I love your capture of durkon, his expressions for the Martyr attack are great. But it reminds of one major reason why the Oots Comic is great, The impact of dialogue of the stick figure version is so much greater because of the graphics, while i'm reminded of looking at manga and looking at all the pretty detail and the dialogue just being background.
its two styles and i love em both, good job.

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Wow! I wish My drawings looked more like drawings, and less like...blobs.

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Hadn't seen this thread before but I gotta say, this is a really fun project, I agree with your take on all the characters.
I can appreciate Miko a lot more as a character when she's looking like that as well, heheheh. ... :smallamused:

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
These drawings are really cool. And amazing.
Though I think I might have failed my saving throw towards bias in terms of manga.
Just one small nitpick (and sorry if this has been mentioned before) but technically, manga is supposed to go from right to left.

It's OEL Manga.
