Well, I wouldn't shut emotions out of the picture entirely, partially because that's impossible, and partially because they're needed for your own personal wellbeing (and to make decisions that make sense to those around you). However, when people think of putting emotion at side, they usually go the whole way (and not seldom beyond, discriminating the "emotionally correct" decision), but no, at least a smattering of emotion is needed, but that doesn't mean that the decision is governed by emotions to any great extent.

I take it you don't have a sister, cause it completely sounds like something a sister would say.

Haha, not the worst association I could have at all.

Like Judge Judy? And that one with the black judge who just yelled at annoying rich college kids? I liked those too. Then I suddenly hated them. :smallannoyed:

Re: August's Pink Plushy and Phantasmagorically Random Banter Thread #166
Well, I know the reason why I hate them now. It comes from me taking on new ideals. I don't even really believe in courts anymore.
And being a jerk is apparently a pre-requisite to becoming a television judge.

After awhile there is only so much bad you can intake. You've hit your quota and probably start breaking at the seams.
EDIT: Or not, as Tragic mentioned.

Hmm... I just got a letter saying the school district will not be mailing us our class schedules this year, in order to save money on mailing.
wait a second...

Whoever decided to do that isn't exactly the sharpest bulb in the drawer, are they?

People who run schools typically aren't, at least in my experience.

Wouldn't a bulb only be sharp if someone broke it? Oh...wait...that's actually very fitting for this situation. Well played Ranger Mattos. Your metaphor-crafting is masterful indeed.

I know. At my school, we have grades 7-12. When I was in 7th grade, they decided to instigate a new rule that 7th and 8th graders couldn't use backpacks to carry supplies and books and such between classes. 9th-12th graders could though.
And want to know why? Because they didn't want us to develop bad backs. What the hell? :smallsigh:

*takes a bow* Why thank you. I would sig that, but I don't know if I have enough room in my signature.
EDIT: I probably could if I got rid of the "Wisdom of the Day" part. I haven't changed that in forever.

They once banned scissors at my school. And hoodies.

What the...? Hoodies? Seriously?
EDIT: And my school also banned "chains other than real jewelry". What does that mean? You can't bring fake jewelry? And how do they define "real jewelry"?
And laser pointers, too.

So instead, you'd have to carry it in your hands/arms. Those people aren't only mentally challenged, they know nothing about ergonomics either.

Their justification was that hoodies, especially oversized ones, could be used to hide contraband, such as scissors and lighters.

My middle school had a similar policy. I had to carry everything in my arms. Though they never gave a reason why. In high school I could use a backpack. In middle school the rule was just sort of...there.

Oooooh, sig it! Getting sigged twice in a couple days will be a record for me!

Reminds me of how my elementary school sometimes tried to discourage games that required any sense of competition, because if somebody lost they would feel bad. Yes, and the better alternative was teaching children that engaging in worthless and meaningless activity with no real results was a good use of time. I loathe how wussified school got sometimes. :smallsigh:

Re: August's Pink Plushy and Phantasmagorically Random Banter Thread #166
At my school, we are not allowed to carry backpacks unless they are made of something you can see through, because I guess we could have a ferret in their or something. Everyone just ignores that rule, though.

What. See through backpack? :smallconfused: All that would accomplish is making you spend more money on a backpack instead of say, a book they wanted you to read over summer or a textbook your meant to get on your own. :smallannoyed:
I cant really speak on school incompetence though, my massive experience of one school and 3 days at a private high school is just too comprehensive for you guys.:smalltongue:

Re: August's Pink Plushy and Phantasmagorically Random Banter Thread #166
I recall that we could not take backpacks to class in middle school. I don't remember what the rationale for the rule was. So we don't strain our backs, maybe?
