GLoG XIV: Where Bad Puns Go To Die.

Aliment scans? Fun stuff. Laraek pings as ZOMG CHAOTIC EVIL! As in 'causing head 'splosions in not particularly powerful paladins who have had the misfortune of Detectin' on him before. One wouldn't guess it from interacting with him, though. So there's probably something unusual going on with the frosty undead.

Aside from that he's surrounded by an aura of anathema. Most any holy effects are either dispelled or suppressed. Depending on the power of blessing on the base everything Laraek touches will be desecrated. Though like his uttercold aura he's pulled it in to a personal range to prevent anyone from being harmed by it. All that said-

It feels- strange in here. Wrong. Like it did in that fox temple. Months ago? Years? I'm not really sure. It feels too hot. Dry and blistering. Oppressive and pushing down on me. Pressing down from all sides. I could- let go of the aura? Push the feeling away. But that might- make the others uncomfortable.

"I'm not sure if I like how it feels here," I comment to Reinholdt as I push myself back up onto my hind legs, wrapping my arms around myself. I wish I knew where my coat was. It probably decayed while I slept. "This place is sanctified, isn't it? I hope I'm not causing any trouble by being here."

V.I.N.C.E. 9000 is rolling around, vacuuming. He might bump into Laraek...

Which may or may not lead to amusing shenanigans. Or at least so the Narrator imagines.

"I'm just saying that I think I might be causing pr-" I stop when something runs into my leg. And jump slightly. Why are things always bumping into me? And what is- that?

I blink a few times at the noisy machine and reaching down to poke it.

"There are more constructs in this city that I remember."

Is this even the same city anymore? Maybe I took a wrong turn at the spruce tree and wandered out of the Nexus...

Reinholdt nods at Laraek. "Like I've said before, I've never been horribly comfortable here myself. Makes me..." he trails off.

"Well nevermind about that. Yes, I believe the place is sanctified, though I doubt you'll cause any problems here. Can't be any worse than what they're already going through, anyways."

It's eyestalk pokes out.

"That's good. I think I- sully holy things if I touch them. I really upset the keepers of a temple I went to once," I recount. Recount likewise their attempt to cure me. It had worked. For a few minutes.

"You said that they help people here? How can they help people if they're inside this fortress?" that seems somewhat puzzling to me. Usually works best to get out among people who need aid rather than holing up in a-

"I'm Laraek. And- I'm a sir. At least I am in my dreams. I'm not sure if that matters so much now."

My build is reminiscently human at best. And I'm wearing a mask. How did it-

I shake my head. It probably doesn't matter. "I was invited here?" I venture. Hopefully that's good enough reason.

"I met some people who were trying to take over the world once," I mention as I take a few steps away from the odd construct. "But they stayed inside their fortress all the time and never got anything done. That was probably a good thing."

Reinholdt eyes the machine oddly. "Sorry about that Laraek. It must be new. Wasn't here the few times I was anyways."

Libulel undeadtimes. He's a fairly handsome young lad, in his late teens, with bouncy brown curls, for those who don't know, but his typically stormy grey eyes are a pale shade, reduced to little by panic, his pale skin almost luminous, his already-prominent facial veins now chasms across his flesh. Approaching the main room, he's confronted by many people - none of whom he knows.

I shift uncomfortably at the machine's further questioning. I'm certainly not good. And I don't think redemption is really- possible considering what I have to do to stay alive. Or- unalive. And I'm certainly not a prisoner. "I'm just visiting?" maybe that will be good enough?

And I nod slowly in reply to the talking cat. "Their leader had some kind of strange commanding ability that enslaved anyone who wasn't humanoid. I was- fortunate to escape. But in the end it all came to nothing."

I smile behind my mask at the newcomer. It's just something I do, right? It doesn't matter if anyone sees it. "I'm just visiting. But thank you for asking?"

Well. Um. Who are you? Libulel asks, running a long, slightly inhuman looking, pale hand through his hair, in a reflexive, panicked gesture. Sorry to be so rude.. He stutters, the words lining up in his mouth, not moving, 'fore exploding in a great big burst. ... but who are you, and who are you visiting, and what is that metallic monster? He's already shying away from the robot, but then, when it talks, he stops. Sharply. What are you?

"Relax, relax. I've been here before. I'm Reinholdt, Treasure Hunter Extraordinaire, and Laraek here just wanted to look around for a bit and see if this place was accommodating for him. It's something of a tour to see if he likes it here or not. If he doesn't, we'll leave."

Right. Yes. Sorry. It's just that with all the evil that rampages through our halls, I've been, justifiably, I feel, a mite on edge. He shudders, seemingly without realising it, and smiles at Reinholdt. And the metal thing...?
