Radikalskippy's Random Banter #85 of lost ideas and where to find them...
The Rules. You! Read these!
In order to try and keep these threads from becoming unmanageable, some rules have been created, and they accent the forum rules. Please read those first.
1. Spam. For the purposes of RB one word posts should be spam everywhere. Likewise, posts that are nothing but *actions like this* should also be considered spam. Quality of content trumps speed of response.
2. Ditch the "competition for control of the universe". It has ceased to be funny, and often branches out into little mock battles that fall into the spam definition laid out above. We've got a PbP section for fights, and even the Town has an arena, I believe.
3. If it's already a thread, don't bring it to RB. RB has such a huge range of subject matter even restricted to the little snippets that probably don't warrant their own thread, it doesn't need legitimate thread topics cluttering it up as well.
4. Stop advertising other threads in RB. Just because these new threads move at speeds more appropriate to a message board than an IM session doesn't mean you need to come over to RB and brow beat people into posting in your latest brainchild.
5. Please stop with single line posts alerting us to your current status -- as in "I'm back." This is Random Banter, not "How to stalk Random GitP forum members."
6. Do not poke, kick or bump the thread. It will move at whatever pace it wants to. Also, please refrain from Captain Obvious comments akin to "My, the thread is fast today."
7. Random Banter can only be as good, or as entertaining, as you make it. Demands to be entertained will fall on deaf ears unless you can add something more meaningful to the conversation.
8. No asking "What's the topic" or the ilk. This is *not* a conversation where you could've missed the begining, it's a forum where the current topic is nicely recorded for you. So read up a bit first.
9. Thread Creator must include the words "Random" and "Banter" as well as the thread #. Try to be concise as well.
10. Every post should contain two visible, legible complete sentences, Subject and Predicate. C'mon, make your old English teachers proud.
:miko:Anyone found breaking the rules will be sent to stand in the corner and receive a very stern talking to! :miko:

This thread is for random discussion, not random chit chat. There is an IRC chat thingy set up for that sort of thing. Not only will you not annoy the people here, you will also help increase the popularity of the IRC chat. It's win/win/win!

Hey, we're randomly bantering again. No longer are we involved in stochastic satire.
Re: Radikalskippy's Random Banter #85 of lost ideas and where to find them...
I couldn't alliterate it... I tried and tried but suddenly all words starting with "R" seemed to escape my mind...
Well, let's enjoy this!!
Also, sorry if the title isn't too original or amusing... I had it but it slipped my mind... Thus the name of it...
Re: Radikalskippy's Random Banter #85 of lost ideas and where to find them...
What exactly qualifies starting a new thread, though?
And uh, this is my first post in one of these.

Right, it's Radikalskippy's Richly Random Repartee of Ridiculously Represented Walruses.
... Er, I mean, Rhinoceroses.
But walruses is funnier.
Edit: Is just a suggestion, I mean. <.<

Well, when a thread reaches page 50 they generally get locked/restarted.
And, uhh, welcome.

I'm thinking of installing Ubuntu on my 360.. but decided against it after seeing that it would void my warranty.

You shouldn't buy Microsuck products anyway, but it works quite fine on my compy.

Wow, that was funny. They really had too much time on their hands; still I'm glad they did. Made me laugh a lot.

I used to have Ubuntu on my machine, but I had the terrible idea of upgrading from 6.06 to 7.04 and it was awful, because there were some drivers missing and I could hardly work there. Then I remembered I didn't have the Live CD for 6.06 anymore, so now I'm stuck on Windows again *sigh*
I loved the video!!! It made me think of my ex-girlfriend. She is studying Visual Arts, so she works a lot with Stop Motion... I really like it!!
Re: Radikalskippy's Random Banter #85 of lost ideas and where to find them...
Awe...some.... specially when they do those ridiculous poses while running and fighting...and the part of the pool, definately the part of the pool.

Yup. Ubuntu FTW. I run Ubuntu on my primary system with possibility to dualboot into XP (wich for some odd reason occurs more and more rarely these days... wnder why :D). I also think of installing the Kubuntu desktop so I will be able to run both GNOME and KDE. This is mostly because i think KDE looks a little cooler and flashier than GNOME and also because KDE has 2 editors wich support Ruby, wich is my pet programminglanguage right now. I also have an old old laptop running on Xubuntu.
Radikalskippy: You can download and burn your very own Live CD in Ubuntu. Here is a link to the downloads page: http://www.ubuntu.com/GetUbuntu/download You can get both 7.04 (wich i recommend even if you have had some bad experience with it). It is also possible to download good old Dapper drake (6.06)

Really? Cause I'd heard really good things about Ubuntu 7. Haven't actually used it though, as I've given up linux in favor of osx. Also, you should realize that any driver you can get for any other linux disto (including Ubuntu 6), you can put on your Ubuntu 7 inst. It may not come on there, but i'm sure you could install it manually.
That's odd though, it's unlike linux (most distros, anyway) to ditch support for something. Anything. I wonder if you reconfigured the kernel manually if you'd find what you're looking for? Perhaps something was merely amiss with the autodetect?
We may have had this conversation already...:smallconfused:

Re: Radikalskippy's Random Banter #85 of lost ideas and where to find them...
Yes indeed, we had it some time ago... My problem is that there are no drivers for my video card, because it was integrated to the motherboard... I have tried configuring it manually and it didn't work... I could work only in 800x600 resolution, and it made me a bit nervous... I think I'll try downloading the Live CD for 6.06 or 6.10, I haven't tried that one...
Basically I loved 7.04 because of almost everything. If only I could reconfigure the X's...

Re: Radikalskippy's Random Banter #85 of lost ideas and where to find them...
Hurray for a new RB. Let there be much mirth and merriment.
I'll get round to making a new avatar at some point, it just depends when I can be bothered.

Also, welcome to all new guys to the RB!!!

Ubuntu 7.04 for me, although it's triple booting with Windows XP (for Halo) and Windows Vista (which I never use).

Dual boot with XP, just for the rare times I wish to play proprietary video non console games.

The proper term is GNU/Linux, you're living up to your name.
