I have read through MOST of the tread, and the closest I found to dates referenced was 12-14 weekend... but that isn't a weekend this year!
Whats the date for the M&G? I would like to attend and meet other OotS's!

Mr. Sword, the 12th, 13th, and 14th of October is totally a weekend. :smalltongue:
Why not? Let's have an or-something.
.
Well... I still live in Maryland. At least for the moment.
We like it here though.
But Virginia is right next door! With all its beauty, better driving, and lower taxes. =P
If the trolls move there, I am quitting my job and we are moving to JC post-haste.
Also, I am not sure when, but I WILL be going to the Poe house/grave while we are there. Anyone else wanna go? Then I can pal around with you and set Gryf free.
A reading of The Raven in Poe's house would be unbelievably geeky and awesome. Although if his house has a basement there is no amount of money in the world that would make me go down there. oO
Touring the Poe house would be awesome. However, the scheduling could be tricky.
Also, as a junior in high school, I did a reading of The Raven that left my entire English class shaking.
That could be cool....when were people thinking that could be fit in though? Sunday maybe? I don't know how long people are staying. Or Friday, I suppose, if enough people get here early enough...
Speaking of....what are people's plans for arrival times etc.?
Phil and I will be landing at about 9:30 Friday morning and departing at 2 on Sunday afternoon. Last I heard he was considering renting a vehicle for the weekend, but I don't know if a final decision on that front has been made yet.
My parents are a lot less grrr argh about me hanging out with Internet folks now that they don't have to give me rides. Or is it that this is the third year?
Wait - you're all Internet folks? :smalleek:
Gryf and I will be arriving SOMEtime on Thursday. But I think the plan is pretty much just to check into the hotel and relax so we can be nice and rested for Friday. So I am thinking Friday DAY is when I need to do my sightseeing. I was talking to Gryf about the possibility of doing DC as well, but I think to pull that off, we would need to extend our trip.
Monkey, nope, reading aloud does NOT embarrass me at all. I will likely be reading/speaking aloud as well. Admission is free, and yes - there is a basement. Also, his grave is less than a mile away, so I think I would want to (weather depending) go there as well. They also have (free) guided tours of the house available, as well.
I am still uncertain if we will be getting in LATE on Thursday or just coming up Friday morning...
I'm meeting an old college buddy for lunch at 11:30, perhaps Poe House in the afternoon?
Bases on my conversation with my doc today, I should be recovered enought to come to the meetup.
To those wanting to site see. If I am with you I can get you free parking in DC. Also the only smithsonium with an "fee" is the secound air and space musium near dulles airport (the one with the SR71 blackbird and the space shuttle). It is $15 per car but I can get you in for free if I am in the car with you
That's pretty awesome. The space shuttle is at the $15 museum and I'd definitely be down for going, but it is a little bit of a drive from Baltimore (solely because of traffic and not distance).
I'd also like to see Poe's house too, if we have a large enough group. I tried to see it once before, but it was closed and we just ended up seeing the cemetery instead. Be advised, Poe's house is sorta in a not so great neighborhood, so a larger group would be better.
I will make it to one of these some year. I swear it!
Also, speaking of Poe, his room at UVa is pretty cool, too.
I checked the website (since it is a National Park site, apparently) And it said they are open Wed-Sun from 9am - 5pm. The cemetery is close enough we can walk it (if the weather is nice), also it looks like you will have to pay to park anywhere near it.
How many people want to go do this and would be down for sometime Friday afternoon?
If time permits, I want to see some of the highlights in DC as well, though I think I will be on my own for that. I might be able to knock out some of my big important-to-see things on my own on Thursday, depending on what time we get there. I have learned from JC meet-ups NOT to bother the hosting family too early.
Isaac - glad to hear the good news!
