How about: What question would get us the most information about shapes and how they work?
Printable View
Good point that also gives him the explicit ability to steer the question in a direction that he is comfortable divulging the most information
So, we can ask that, but I wonder if people all agree to pose it to the shapes route. I'll bold the question and see what people think. If you have a different subject, speak up! This will be using our last two questions!
What question would get us the most information we do not know about shapes and what each accomplishes?
It can also be assumed that the answer to this question is the 4th question, in this circumstance.
I vote for: What question would get us the most information we do not know about shapes and what each accomplishes? Also, I agree that the answer to this question is the 4th question
DING! DING! DING! DING!
Third question issued:
Answer 3: How do the three tiers of Shapes impact Fourthland characters and worlds?Quote:

DING! DING! DING! DING!
Fourth question issued:
Answer 4: There are three tiers of shapes. The first is the basic abilities of a character. This is most closely analogous to the "Classes" in other systems. The second covers supernatural abilities pertaining to a single aspect of existence (Such as Flame or Gates). And finally the third tier covers social-interactions. It is how one handles social encounters. To start, a character is "Shapeless", and later may obtain one shape of each tier (Not necessarily in order). Fourth is allocated to the abilities granted by a Shape in order to empower them.Quote:
The answer to this question is the 4th question: How do the three tiers of Shapes impact Fourthland characters and worlds?
Regions of the world may also have Shapes, with interesting results for those within said region. Other creatures are determined by the shapes they have.
I am now even more excited about this game when it is finally done. I love how the four questions just gave me even more questions that I know I must sadly wait for the full release to have answered.
Ok. First thing we have to do in this game is set up a mental hospital.
We gonna need eet.
On that note I vote that when we do end up playing we set up one of the 4 optional extra energies as sanity.
Sanity. Wouldn't that be a combination of First and Third?
I was thinking about the energy of Digestion. The ability to take an energy and change it to something else, or break it down to nothing. Basically, to apply "anti energy". this very well might tie into energy control, but in case it isn't. Heck, it could be like math!
Anti + Anti = Non Anti
Non + Non = Non Anti
Anti + Non = Anti
A cycle could be attained in this way if things progressed into anti over time. Then when there was enough anti from this, it would interact with itself and come back as a normal energy.
It also seems like anti could be the "opposite of" idea that some of these have:
Non-structure (does not have a vessle, structure, shape)
Stillness (Immobile)
Catatonia (Lacking thought)
Non living (Not animate, cannot possess Third or Fifth)
Oblivious (Does not react to stimuli)
Exfluence (How things influnce it, where influnce is how it influnces thnigs)
No control (cannot control energy)
Predictability (4 x 4 = 16)
Darkness (Absense of light)
Absense of heat (do I need to explain this?)
Negative charge (Gravity = Magnetic Energy)
Timeless (Lacks the forward progression of time)
The more I think about energies, the more things I notice relate in certain ways.
I could be very off in all this, but it is fun to think about. AH! What if we had taken a page, posted all of our theories on fourthland, and then asked the question - What things in these theories are true? or something. Ah well, too much too late.
So is this dead or...?
No, it merely has a low amount of 2nd and 4th at the moment.
I know I've been busy...
My current project is a game where you play as a semi-immortal person who wanders a multiverse of Time-Loops (which you can affect), looking for meaning, or Earth (the only place that isn't a Loop or a Moment), all the while fighting off (or being!) people who want to carve out their own little empire of worlds built in their image, beings from the No-Place between loops that corrupt the relative normalcy of a given loop (which could be anything from a lazy afternoon in Summer to a thousand-years long history of an empire) into crazy stuff (think Excrucians from Nobilis for the nearest comparison.)
On top of that, if you take a fancy to an NPC, you can totally uplift them to the same level of immortality that you have! Which is the best kind of immortality (essentially, things from a Loop of a Moment can't permanently injure you; they just give you a penalty to stuff until you get around to regenerating your head.)
I would kinda like playtesters at some point...
But yeah, enough about me. I have to thank Welknair for inspiring me to get off my ass, though.
Ooh, that sounds very interesting. Immortality (the study of, mostly) is a hobby of mine. Colour me interested.
I really should qualify that as "Quasi-Immortality, due to being atemporal"
Due to how the game is structured, a thousand years in one loop is equivalent to 5 minutes in another, so...
I won't reveal much more; much like Welknair is hush-hush due to wanting to publish, I'm gonna try to do the same thing.
Happy Fourth of July everyone!
Unless you're Canadian, in which case that comes a few days late. :smallwink: But sure, enjoy your successful rebellion.
We plan to. lol
*Whew*
I have officially resigned from my position as administrator on that server. I can actually have time to write, now. Holy crap. One heck of a ride.
Why did you resign? I hope it was just because you wanted to write, and not for... other reasons.
That was it. It was taking too much time, and was generally too much work. There was a suprising lack of drama involved. Just me deciding that I'd been doing too much work for too long. Now I'm in bruce-wayne-mode on that server. I have an alternate identity I'm using now, which is just a player.
...and then the world ends.
I'm glad that some of the players were willing to speak up for me and say that I wasn't the type of person to do something like break the world out of spite. I had nothing to do with the world-breakage. I don't even know how someone would do that.
For those confused: The MC server is literally falling apart without me. Chunks of the world are shifting and trading places with each others. Everything's a mess. And now our plugins are starting to go dysfunctional. I picked a great day to resign.
Its hilarious and sad. I hope the thing is fixed (for want of my sanity [all that work!? jzdfhdufawdfed]) but if not at least I'll be gone for a time before it sinks in! And who knows, maybe it will be fixed when I get back? Lol.
Speaking of which, I should write my absence in my signature.... goes to do so. *huzzah for vacations*
So you speak of coming back to writing Fourthland stuffs... :smallcool:
That would be one of my favorites, TS Elliot. "Hallowed Men" or "Hollow Men" I think...
