Dirt Road
Oh.
She's on good terms with Godlark, is she? That certainly alters things. Mercutio raises an eyebrow slightly when Jeanne mentions this, although that could just be a reaction to the merpeople part of the sentence.
"A fortnight is an acceptable probation period. Now, you said you were familiar with this realm. Tell me, what relations and knowledge have you with and about factions here?"

Oh hey, this post exists.
Libby stares at the spot Mercutio was in for a moment, head cocked slightly to the side.
She's fairly sure there's nothing worse that the devil could be entitled to than a soul, so what a peculiar note to leave on.
Something to bear in mind and keep an eye out for, perhaps.
Oh well. Back to grabbing that errant goat.

"I went to AMEN first because I have a cousin there. I've met a few people there - Megan, a catgirl scientist; Magtok, the weird cloney guy who never tries to hit on me; Ilpholin, the leader there - some kind of supernatural drow woman; some flower in a power armoured suit...." Jeanne will go on detailing her time in the Nexus and people she's met. Blah blah blah. None of the people she's met have become close friends, but she knows rather more people than my new characters normally have by this stage in their existence. *peeeeers at Jeanne*

Derek follows along behind deciding to keep his mouth shut this time. Sometimes it is just better to plead the fifth. Though with a grin on your face like the one Derek it isn't like he isn't communicating.

[Forest Lake]
Calvin lays on the ground in the clearing with blood smeared over his body and only a dull idea of what had happened that night. He knows he it will be some time before he really starts to remember it. He gets up to his feet gathering his clothes and pouches and starts to head back to the city, planning on stopping at a nearby lake for a bath first.
((Interaction welcomed.))

Jezebelle leads Derek to a small room on the other side of the barn. She places the dirty plates in a small tub, adds dish soap, and begins filling it with warm water. So, what will be the first lesson, oh wise teacher?
Let the dish-washing begin!

[Melody's Island- Barn]
He stands next to her helping scrap and clean the dishes.
"Well, that depends on how comfortable you are in the water. That is half of what swimming is all about. Controlling your breathing is probably the first lesson."

Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
Dirt Road
To his credit, Mercutio is quite patient waiting for Jeanne to finish rambling. After all, you never know when what appeared to be some inconsequential little thing could be important. She seems to have quite an extensive list of contacts. Certainly much more than Mercutio could ever have hoped to gain from the research he did before setting off for the Nexus.
So it's not until Jeanne falls silent, finally reaching the end of her list, that the devil speaks up. "Thank you. I'm sure it'll be quite interesting. Now, Miss Jeanne, tell me. Are you adverse to inter-planar travel?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
Dirt Road
"No, not at all," Jeanne says. "Is this official then, the two week trial, before a proper contract is fleshed out? Should I call you boss or Master or anything?"

Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
[Cyan Beach]
Vizek gives Damon a odd look. He did no like what the Zern was saying one bit, had this alternative version completely lost it?
"We need to talk about that later." The dragon replies before he presses his his claw against the pit lords head who just laughs manically. "You will never smufff-"
Vizek silences the demon by pressing down it's head in the sand as he closes his eyes and seem to concentrate deeply.
After a few moments the dragon turns to face Damon, "I think they're planning to... turn a great deal of mortals into demons." He sounds unsure and very worried, this was not what he had expected at all.

Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
{Melody's Island- Barn}
Not comfortable at all, actually. To be completely honest, I'm a little frightened. On a boat, I'm fine. A little sea-sick, but fine. But I haven't been swimming since I was a child.
Jezebelle washes what Derek hands her after he scrapes the food off. Then places aside to dry.
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
{Melody's Island- Barn}
"Alright, we can work on that. I wouldn't want to put you in a position you are uncomfortable with."
He means that just as much about swimming as he does anything else.

Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
Dirt Road
"Indeed. I believe 'Sir' will do for now." Mercutio crosses his arms over his chest, thinking for a moment. "There's no point in wasting time, then. You mentioned you were on good terms with Magtok Godlark?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
Dirt Road
"Yes, Sir. I'd heard of him around Hell, and so when I heard he was in AMEN, I introduced myself. We spoke for a bit, and then he said he was about to raid Trog's with a mer-person gun and asked if I would like to help.
"The raid itself was pretty much a disaster - Magtok couldn't organize an orgy in a brothel. We only managed to get a few of the patrons turned, and Magtok flung me in the line of fire once to save his own ass. I overclocked the gun and threw it into the room. I ended up being temporarily fished and Magtok hauled me out and let me hide in his office for a while"
"I never berated him for using me as a shield in the fight, and he hasn't booted me out of AMEN, so I think that counts as good terms." Jeanne says.

Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
Dirt Road
"I suppose that will have to do for now. Your first task, Miss Jeanne, is this: I want you to infiltrate Godlark's base of operations. Integrate yourself, sneak in and hide, I care not. Your main objective is to locate a human female named Linda Dalihan, alias Linda Mann. Godlark has some sort of ward cast over her that keeps me from observing her or discovering his intentions for her. I want to know what he's planning. Your second objective is to prevent, by what ever means necessary, Miss Dalihan, Godlark or any of his henchmen from coming in to contact with one Brian Starling and his associates. Any questions?"
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
Dirt Road
Jeanne nods. The first part sounds easy enough. She should be able to get into the cave just by knocking, from what she's heard. The second part though... "I don't know Brian Starling by sight, or know his associates."

Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
The Black Chapel
Out in the middle of the Dark Woods, lies the Black Chapel of Pellis, the god of wisdom. The Church is usually a good, quiet, and solemn place, but something isn't right about it anymore. The beautiful stained glass windows are all blasted open, the big wooden doors ajar, cracks in the wood. A side of the chapel seems too have been on fire, judging by the black soot. On a huge spike outside, is a priest, nailed onto the spike, and set on fire. Written across the poor man's face is the words, "Demoxious Phase." Crows pick at his body hungrily. The trees around are all blackened, and no plant life grows. The temperature is very warm around the church. Unnaturally warm. The Inspector and Tobias ought to find themselves overlooking the church, around 50 feet away from the man on the spike.
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
The Black Chapel
Tobias takes in the scene for a few minutes. Is that the priest you were talking about?
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
The Black Chapel
Thenadier shakes his head. Yes...that's...Balniscious...if he's dead...what killed him?! Thenadier looks worried. There's Black Magic in the air...can you taste it? Potent Black Magic...Sulfur, burning flesh...andd something ancient and foul...something very old and evil lies in this Chapel...
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
The Black Chapel
Ah yes, sulfur and burning flesh. What a strange pair of scents. Never expected to smell them here. Where everything is torched. Tobias remarks dryly and starts walking towards the chapel. Wouldn't be the first time that some religious group built a church on top of the ruins of a more ancient temple. Why, this is all textbook so far.
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
The Black Chapel
Thenadier frowns.Something attacked the place! There's no sign of the priests...I wonder what "Demoxious Phase means"? My father is dead, I already found what's left of him... Should Tobias observe ehere Thenadier is looking, he'll find a man that looks like an older, pudgier Thenadier, half burnt to a crisp, dody torn in half.
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
The Black Chapel
I'm not sure. Something about the appearance of sharp people? Tobias shrugs and walks into the building to take a look around.
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
Black Chapel
What does that mean though?! The hallway leading into the larger parts of the church are splatterred in blood. Body parts lie all in the hallway, like the priest that was here was squeezed too hard and burst. :smallyuk: The walls here are made of a black brick, with a small desk in the corner, where another priest lies dead, frozen solid.

Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
Dirt Road
Mercutio sighs. This was something of a nuisance, but not especially so. Easy enough to rectify. He lifts a hand, beckoning Jeanne closer. "Come and I will show you."
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
Dirt Road
Jeanne rises to her feet for the first time, and approaches her potential new boss.
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
Dirt Road
Once Jeanne is standing within arm's reach, Mercutio reaches out and touches his fingers against her forehead. Closing his eyes and slowly exhaling, the devil establishes a weak link between them. It'd be possible for Jeanne to take advantage of the link and force her way into his mind, but that would be quite a reckless decision.
Shortly, Jeanne's control over her own vision will vanish. Mercutio and the dirt road is replaced by a long row of warehouses at night. A man with gorgeous mutton chops and a fancy hat is approaching her, flanked by two body-guards. Jeanne will recognize the man in the middle as Brian Starling, the female bodyguard as Jan and the male bodyguard as Kareem. The vision cuts just as Starling comes to a stop before her and opens his mouth to speak.
Removing his fingers from Jeanne's forehead, Mercutio breaks the link. He opens his eyes and looks down at her. "I trust that will be satisfactory."
-
Re: [Nexus] Outside XXXII
Dirt Road
Reckless indeed. Employment counsellors recommend against using mental attacks at a job interview as it is likely to make a poor impression. Particularly if you aren't a mind mage or psychic.
"Yes, Sir. That will do." Jeanne says. She's dropped her snarky attitude from before and her tone is polite, though not subservient. "Thank you for the opportunity. How do I get in touch with you when I learn something?"

Yeah it's fine... These places repel our kind in a different sort of way...
Grant says as he kneels down to examine the ground.
The destruction tears families apart and we can feel it. It makes us emotionally sick.

"Ah, gotcha." He says as he looks around at the buildings and the streets, trying to see if he can notice anything out of the ordinary. Well, besides the fact that it's completely and totally blasted.
