SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
After a five day journey from Flagsdale, you've come to the top of the low foothills at the edge of the valley.
Below you is a wide expanse of natural beauty. Mountains ring the whole of the valley, and a red glow emanates
from a peak to the south east. The tops of countless green trees are parted by a forked dark blue river. The
middle of the valley is a large plain of waving grass.
At the center of it all is a tower. The structure is a foreboding matte black that reaches high above even the
tallest of the trees, like some dark nail being driven into the heart of the plain.
After a moment of taking in your surroundings, you see an overgrown path leading through the woods and you quickly
reason that this must be from the last attempt to claim this territory.
What do you do?

Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Luvon dusted off his functional tunic with an air of mild disgust. Well then. Our goal is in sight, let us not tarry any further. Come come. He snapped, punctuating the mildly dismissive command. He strode on his long legs forward, intent on making it to the tower's base before the sun set.

Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Hapax rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah" he says, forming a blade to hack his way through the vegetation.
-
Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
A flash of orange and black came darting up beside Hapax and Luvon, Tetro giving them a sideways look, "it wouldn't kill you two to walk a bit slower..." shifting her pack she sighed now keeping pace with the two of them as they continued forward.

Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Sighing contentedly, Lelouch stands at the back before snapping back to reality and notices everyone else moving ahead. Checking his suit he nods confidently before following and catching up to the rest of them. I'm right behind you he called out as he pulled out his glaive to help get through the vegetation

Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
After an hour of cutting your way through long prickly grasses and thorny underbrush, you see at the edge of the road what appears to be a rabbit, the size of Tetro, with long light green fur staring you down. Besides its unusual size and coloration this rabbit also has a long spiraling golden horn, reminiscent of a unicorn's, sprouting out of its forehead. It makes low growling noises as it paws at the ground aggressively.

This is an Al'mi-raj, commonly known as a "Blink Bunny". Like Blink Dogs they can teleport short distances. Unlike regular rabbits, Al'mi-raj will aggressively defend themselves with their magic horns. Their horns retain some of their magic even when separated from the creature.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Blink (Su)
Al-mi’raj can blink as a free action.
Dimension Door (Su)
An al-mi’raj can create an effect identical to a dimension door spell once per round as a standard action. The ability affects only the al-mi’raj, which never appears within a solid object and can act immediately after teleporting.
Magic Horn (Su)
While on the creature’s head, an almiraj’s horn is treated as a +1 weapon. A severed almiraj horn retains a wisp of its former magic, and counts as a masterwork weapon if used to create a magical dagger or similar small piercing weapon.
ECOLOGY
Environment: temperate plains
Organization: solitary or warren (2–20)
Treasure: Magic Horn
The al-mi’raj is a dangerous creature with long white, pink, yellow, or light green fur. Its horn is golden or black in color. Because of the al-mi’raj’s interdimensional travel abilities, sages often refer to them as “blink bunnies.”
Al-mi’raj react to threats much differently than their normal rabbit cousins. When danger is nearby, the al-mi’raj becomes aggressive and moves to attack. In combat, the al-mi’raj stabs with its horn.

Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Hapax broght his blade up, addressing the rest of the party. "I don't know what that is, but I think I know why it's angry; it's protecting another one of its kind, most likely it mate."
-
Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Al'mi-raj. Magic bunny. Fancy horn, rapid but minor teleportation. Their horns would be useful reagents, certainly. Luvon regarded the creature with a barely present interest. He drew his crossbow and unleashed a rapid duo of bolts at the creature. They are quite aggressive, I should add.

10:00 am
The bunnies are defeated with a final crunch from Hapax's hammer. After a short while, Luvon has the carcasses stripped down to their base parts and packed away.
Not having much else to do in the area the group moves on toward the tower. After another half hour the party comes to a path leading from the road to a run down farm house with a crumbling barn.
Will you continue down the road or check out the house and barn?
-
Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
A bit proud of taking out bunny, grins while catching up to the group, pondering the two paths, taking the dangling carrot calls out to the others "I'm going to check out the house, might be some supplies in there..anyone going with?"

Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Inspecting the teeth on his glaive as they walked before sheathing it. As the came to the cross roads, he instinctively started following Tetro, thinking back to times in college, and all of the times one of the other three had to pull her back from making a dangerous move. Hey, hold up lets at least agree as a group before you go running off
-
Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Luvon resisted the urge to roll his eyes as the precocious lizard scampered to the abandoned building. Of course the lizard goes looking for mice... Do be careful. It's a long trip back to the nearest occupied building that has experienced regular maintenance and upkeep. His voice was only a hint of sarcasm.
-
Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Hapax just shrugged and followed.
-
Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
As you enter the clearing around the farm house, you realize that you've been walking in shade for so long that the barest amount of sunlight feels amazing on your skin/scales. Birds in the trees around you watch your approach from the safety of the tree branches.
Now that you are closer to the house you can see that it's more broken down than you previously thought. The front door hangs from the frame by a single hinge, ivy grows up the sides of the building, and most of the shingles have been blown away by weather. If there was any paint before you're not sure. There are a couple of windows (the Xs on the map) that are badly in need of a cleaning. If you were adjacent to them you could probably see inside. There clearly was a backdoor at one point but it is long gone now (the square on the map).
Spoiler: Everyone but Luvon
Show
There is an armed man partially hidden in the ruins of the loft of the barn. He appears to have fallen asleep while on guard.
In addition, the smell of smoke lets you know that the chimney has been used in the last day.
-
Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Hapax raises his hand to the party in a silencing gesture. "There's a guard" he said in a whisper, "but he's asleep. How do you want to play this?"
-
Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Kill it or ignore it. It's already a poor lookout. Luvon waved at the structure dismissively. Killing it would give us a point to retreat to. However beneficial this... structure is.
-
Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Lelouch turns his head as not to move to many of the mechanisms in his suit and looks over his shoulder As much i dont like the idea, if we do explore here, it might be best to let me get out of my mech. Especially if we do take a more stealthy approach He starts making the necessary steps to allow himself to slip out of the mechanized suit depending on the consensus of the group
-
Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Looking to the other three, Tetro tills her head looking the structure up and down, "well, if the guard's asleep, I could try and teleport up a tree and see about taking him out with my crossbow that way...or you three can always just do your smash and grab thing. Either way whats the harm in checking it out?" Shifting her pack, her tail swishing a bit while waiting and looking.
-
Re: SC's Kingdom Game: The Uncanny Valley
Hapax nodded. "Good idea. Give us a signal if you need us to move in"
