You seem to misunderstand Lovecraftian horrors. Many are not from beyond reality. Also, while many of them tend to seem like "giant, ugly monsters" that is rarely what makes them a horror. Those that are a horror for that reason can't really be successfully translated into a visual medium, as the thing that makes them scary is that their appearance is beyond what a human mind should comprehend, and can't be imagined by people, thus any attempt to get that effect in a visual medium will fail (they also tend to be rather poorly described in text, but it is fine as you just need to know that something more horrifying than you can think of is there).
As for those that aren't like that, the horror they pose is usually much more on a mental level. It can range from slowly wearing you down and driving you insane (such as the colour out of space which also killed you over time), to something that can mind rape you on the spot. And even those that lack such drastic abilities are still terrifying due to their alien mindset. The fear of the unknown is what makes them scary, and their thought processes tend to be almost wholly unknown. They would kill you not out of hatred, malevolence, or kindness, but for some reason you can't think of, and the fact you can't easily predict what they're going to do makes it so you don't know how to act to avoid them doing something unpleasant for you. If they have strange anatomy, it also can make it so it is hard to figure out how to easily harm them to protect yourself. After all, if it was just a guy who you couldn't predict his actions, you could disable him through any of a number of common knowledge methods to stop someone (such as choking, a knee to the groin, etc.).
Also, BRC, are you talking about the part where it says Spell 41: Living Bandage? I'll also point out we have already seen pages use spells without actually reciting an incantation. As such I wonder if the calling of attacks is something that adds more power, or if it is just being done for the reader's convenience, and might not actually be something they are saying.
Owrtho
Wait, isn't he on the same side as the necromancer?
Ohyeah. (Sweatdrop)
I was hoping someone else would say that, cuz I wasn't sure how. I'd just like to add that the complaint that Lovecraftian horrors aren't scary isn't valid even in itself. The Pages aren't based on "scary," they're based on mythology. Ice isn't exactly a common theme in horror stories. Angels aren't either, and I'm sure there's more examples but I don't really feel like checking.
Yeah 404 errors are terrifying.
Wierd. The picture is working for me.

Can i just say?
PSYCHIC. CLOWN.
What is more epic, aside from chuck norris vs his clone?
Eh. There are horror stories about angels out there, I'm not denying that. It's just not the sole source genre like it is for werewolves, vampires, and mummies. It's simply isn't a requirement to be scary to become a Page.
Also, that picture is disturbing. What's the source on that?
Edit: Same thing for cold beings - I'm sure there are plenty of stories of ice elementals eating people. It's just not a requirement.
Although I may also be talking out my ass. Elagune, care to chime in here?
Another page up.
Guy with his hands wrapped up is a boxer? Whoda thunk?
Wow, he took a level in badass since he was cowering. XD
What is IN that potion?
Apparently another personality.
Everything else aside, the dude was outnumbered 3:1, and there was a page that can freeze limbs. Now the sides are even, and he's fighting someone he has a chance of beating with his skills.
The word I meant to use was sig. Pedant. :smallfurious::smallbiggrin:
