Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Nixie)
I have definitely found a new favorite thread in Arts and Crafts.
Your style is so...almost cute. The colors, I love your colors!
Its all very pretty, almost, as well.
All I can think of are words that nearly fit, but not quite. I very much like it, though, and the kobolds are definitely my favorite <3

Glad you almost... have the right words.
Anyway, looks like we might be a bit late this week as well. Me and the fella are going off for the weekend to check out something his dad's doing.
But next week's theme: henchmen.

Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Hill Giant)
HEY YOU GUYS
GUESS WHO'S ABSURDLY LATE
Okay, so this week's theme was henchmen, creatures that serve a more powerful creature. I actually got mine done on Monday/Tuesday, but haven't posted anything about it here because I like to put up a link to Joe's image when I post my own. We've both been busy with some animation work, and he's doing a better job on concentrating on what's really important than I am.
I did the Hill Giant. I took a lot of influence for the build and poses of these guys from Scottish Highland games, because those guys are like bears, yo. The scots aren't as ugly as these giants are, though.
The other image is the Lemure, the lowest kind of devil, a completely mindless pillar of flesh with a face.
So apologies for the lateness of these posts.
Next week's theme is oozes.

Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Nixie)
I really like your drawings, they're inspiring and really encourage me to use these monsters in game.

I find I get a similar feeling when I'm researching this monsters before drawing them.
"Okay, I guess I'll do a pixie this week... Wait a minute, PIXIES ARE AWESOME."

Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Reekmurk)
We're trying to get back to our regular updating schedule over at Dungeons and Drawings, i.e. posting on Sundays, but we don't want to skip a week. So we've posted what should've gone up last Sunday today and next Sunday things should be back to normal.
Our theme was oozes today, which is something we chose mostly to get it out of the way.
I chose the Reekmurk, a smelly giant black blob that looks like an oil spill and burns through ships with its acidy body.
The other one this week is the Void Ooze, a kind of flying slug made of negative energy.
Next post's theme is spellcasters. I've already started on mine.
-
Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Green Slaad)
Aaaand we're back to normal.
This week's theme on http://dungeonsanddrawings.blogspot.com/ was spellcasters (or at least creatures with really varied spell-like abilities). I chose the Green Slaad as my creature for the week, since the slaadi are a group of creatures I've never really paid much attention to before. I ended up reading most of the Manual of the Planes when I was doing my research for this picture and DANG THE PLANES ARE AWESOME.
The other creature for the week is a Spellweaver, which I is mundane compared to a slaad as far as six-armed owl-faced creatures with magic disks only they can control go. And also it can cast six spells at a time. Golly, what a yawner.
But I guess if we'd really been smart we'd done a more horror themed post for today. But the slaadi reproduce by IMPLANTING EGGS INSIDE YOU and then the baby slaad EATS ITS WAY OUT. And the other guy looks like an OWL. Oooooooooo, an oooowwwllll. OH MY GOD SIX FIREBALLS IN YOUR FACE.
Happy halloweeen y'all.

Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Nixie)
You guys are awesome. You should do a webcomic, or little flash animation shorts with this stuff.

We keep wondering whether we should do a webcomic, but lack the faith in our writing abilities. At least I do.
It's possible that in the future we'll be doing some animations for our updates.

Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Troll)
Hey y'all. This week's theme on Dungeons and Drawings was lady monsters.
I chose to do a troll because you know how lady-only monsters look in fantasy; creatures of eerie and elegant beauty. So I decided to pick a troll to practice my ugly skills.
The other creature is an Earth Weird. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I can post a link to it because it would lead to boobies and I'm not entirely sure what the forums rules say about that. Unless somebody moddish wants to answer my query, you're gonna have to go the long way to see the image.

You could ask someone to write for you for free. I would definitely take such a position, having some experience with it. You could ask for sample scenarios and all that.
Also, the Earth Weird is really well done. Love the rocks flying/falling off her (or are they shooting up from the ground?).

Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Nixie)
This is all sorts of awesome! :smallamused:
I really like the Pixie.

You and your friend are very good at drawing.
I love it.

Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Howler Wasp)
Hello there.
The theme this week on Dungeons and Drawings was feeee-lying creatures, or at least creatures with a fly speed. I got mine done pretty early on. Joe's been pretty busy with some work this week, but he managed to make a quick image to meet the Sunday deadline. It turned out real simple and nice, and makes me think of a greeting card with its bright colours and white background.
Anywho. I chose the Howler Wasp, a half-monkey half-bee horror.
His is a double whammy. The subject of the image is the Yrthak, a blink pterodactyl with sonic powers, but it also includes its unfortunate victim, an Achaierai, an evil four-legged flightless parrot.
ENJOY.
-
Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Nixie)
The Yrthak isn't there *sadface* :smallfrown:

Yeahhh, sorry about the dead link. The Yrthak was posted yesterday, but taken down a few hours later because my partner started having second thoughts about its quality. Which is a shame because the Archaierai was really really cute. We're kind of perfectionists, him more so.
I'll update with a working link once he posts the amended image.

Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Nixie)
I watched this thread and have to say you are greate artists.
If I ever start to master a game I would describe your pics for the monsters.
I would like to see you draw a Otyugh:smallbiggrin::smallbiggrin:
-
Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Howler Wasp)
Okey dokey guys.
The image of the Yrthak was taken down a couple of hours after it was posted up, but its up again now.
-
Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Nixie)
Shame the colour is gone, it takes away a bit of atmosphere. Art is still good though!
-
Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Nixie)
Now I want a ridiculous four-legged parrot as a pet. Pity they're intelligent and evil.

Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: PCs!)
Heyyyy. So we're a bit late again this week. I don't like posting anything until both of us are done, so yeah.
Anyway.
We did our most recent PCs this week, whom we've been playing in a Willow Vale campaign. Mine is Lucky the Goblin, a ranger who specialized is mounted archery, riding his wolfy animal companion Bones.
I ended up being a combination of damage dealing and helped the wizard with crowd control, since I had a wand of Entangle spells. I was also the group scout, since I had the most wilderness knowledge and fastest speed. I kept being sent ahead even though sometimes I didn't want to, since the DM would give more and more dangerous hazards every time I strayed from the group. One time on a failed spot check, my wolf fell into a spiked tiger trap filled with snakes (I grabbed on to a branch before falling). Bones survived by a hair.
After that, every time the group wanted to send me off alone I was all, "Can I please take somebody else with me? Please?"
This particular image is from when a bunch of giants shot 12 arrows at Lucky and Bones, and none hit.
Joe's character was a human barbarian from the mountains, Olaf Ullathorne. He had a TON of HP, double what some of us had. He also has this weapon has a sugiliin, from the Frostburn book, which is a super huge staff with antlers on the end. He got some pretty awesome critical hits with that.

Very understandle. I like how you work together, creating a mix of art styles. (Well, not in the same piece, obviously.)
Lucky sure did his name honour with the happening that resulted in that art piece of yours. :smallwink: I have to say though that due to the art style, the wolf's snout sort of makes him look like a coyote to me.
Or perhaps I am just not familiar enough with coyotes. I love the skull-cap though. I'm a sucker for sabreteeth.
I find it a shame Olaf Ullathorne was shown from behind he first time we get to see him! Nice how he handles those half-giants though.

Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Nixie)
Your work is amazing. But especially the colouring. I think I have something new to aim toward, that is your colouring work.
-
Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Otyugh)
Did an Otyugh this week for Dungeons and Drawings, because Zefir half-requested it. There's not really a proper theme this week, but we both ended up doing aberrations. Joe did a Naga for his pic this week.
We're doing request this week, so suggest a creature and see if it gets drawn.
-
Re: Dungeons and Drawings art stuff (new: Nixie)
Requests? I need to think of something good.

A flumph paladin. Doing something badass.
