Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Oh man. I love the manga Xykon.
This one needs to be done:

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
This one is better.
Factor Three: Meteor Swarm.

Nah. Watching a smug-looking manga Xykon take the crown and go:
"Badass."
*puts on crown*
"Really Badass."
Is just pure comedic gold. It's the visual gag. Meteor swarm doesn't really have that.

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
I dunno, i just love the whole three panels there.
Factor One, I can fly under my own power due to the Overland Flight spell i cast this morning. Factor Two, a zombie dragon without a bite attack is useless to me. Factor Three, Meteor Swarm.

i like the "You're that guy! the guy that kept getting pissed at me for not remembering... something."

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
I remember someone asking why Xykon didn't use Scry n Die on the Order.
You need the target's name.
'Damn, this Redblade has some good antiscrying.'

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
I'm probably asking a stupid question here, but what's the overall situation with this thread now? I assume its been shot down or something but, at any rate, we're not getting any more OotS manga, right?
-
Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
I *Think* the artist hasn't got enough time.

Artist's priorities shifted. So no, unless Elagune wins the lottery and can spend 20 hours a day drawing I doubt we're likely to see any more.
Which sucks, but such is life when you view awesome stuff for free.

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
...I bet if Elagune got a website, s/he could get donations.
-
Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
I bet if the Giant offered a collaboration to extend the market to viewers who stick at the stick-style, Elagune might find some more time :D

But if he's paid, then he can't continue making OotS sketches, as that most definitely violates copyright.
-
Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Also, big as the OotS fanbase is, these conversions are only really interesting to us. He'd get some cash, but far from a lot, I'd wager.
-
Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
True, but unlikely. XD
There are probably ways around it. For a start they're not paying him, they're giving money from the goodness of their own hearts.
Yes, but enough for an incentive, methinks. XD

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Perhaps you could talk to Rich about making an official manga translation after the last book was in stores? I guess that would be legal, but would depend in his aproval, anyway
Your work is really awesome, but it's a different kind of awesome than OotS itself. Rich is more of a comic/drama/adventure... writer, and he chose a medium that would favor the jokes, but it works for the drama as well.
Your style is mor about the show, the flashy battles(I liked Soon's katana) and more importantly, a *Second viewpoint*. If I read his comics, then yours, I will gaze upon a different understanding of the story
-
Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
I dunno that the jokes wouldn't work in manga form.
(Ohgods, i now have dreams of an OoTS anime.)

My anime watching list is four or five long.

FWIW, while I like the OOTS style for what it is, Rich's story + Elagune's artwork is FTW in my book.
I think Egalune's contributions here show that he's really got the talent to bring up a manga-style OOTS. That's a growing market here in the US - you've got shelves and shelves of manga in the stores nowadays. heck, I got the original GITS manga from Borders the other day just to see how it was (excellent, characters were really interestingly different - Motoko has FUN?? and a BOYFRIEND??? wowow).
So I'm just sayin', Rich's stick figure style works for all of us fans, but a manga-style might bring the story to a lot lot of other fans-to-be, plus most of us'd prolly buy it to. And here's Elagune all awesome n'stuff at it already. Sounds like opportunity knocking to me.

Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
I think the artist is hiding from this thread to avoid begging-maybe someone could send him a message?
-
Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Ah yes, the first rule when dealing with artists who take requests: If they don't visit their thread any more, take the begging to their door.
-
Re: Order of the Stick: The Manga
Of course.
Or was that sarcasm?

This has been discussed, at length. The bottom line was the stick figure style both directly and indirectly affects the humor. While manga style is good for a few scenes, a full reproduction would not be worth it.
