Well, if you're trying not to do something flat, then you'll need background, shading, or both.
Also, found this through your "shameless advertising". :smalltongue:
Oops.
Well then, the arms look better, but I can't tell about the legs; skirts tend to cover that up. The torso looks better though; the flatter, thinner chest looks better than the stuff you have on deviantart. But it's tied with this one.
that's a lot better than usual, prime. That's what I called learning
My thought process for that pic went
SpoilerI think I'll draw something.
A leg. That leg is too well-proportioned to scrap, I'll have to draw around it.
What pose could I draw around it? Ah, I'll have them balance on something.
Okay, who should this be? A Touhou character. Marisa? Cirno? Reimu? Nah, I already drew Reimu. Marisa could be balancing on her broom.
Dangit, no-one will see that I can draw upper legs now!
Well, given that tracing was involved in that pic...
Now you kinda get the hang of proportion, next, try to vary the line weight.
Just remember that limbs aren't thicker than head, and bodies are just about 1,5-2 heads thick sideways (except for spacemarines and such), and you'll be fine.
FurriesSpace Marines Are Easier To Draw? I should do some WH40K fanart. :smallwink:
Give me a subject and a pose. Something from Fire Emblem, or maybe Touhou again.
...space marines?
Aya Shameimaru running.
DAT FACE.
I like to pose, too.
As for something to draw, I'd say Kaguya sitting around and doing somethine NEET-y. Sitting people are hard to draw.
Could use some tweaking, but I figure it's good enough to post:

I don't remember what the shrine is supposed to look like. The tree has cherry blossoms because JAPAN. :smalltongue:
Her right arm looks quite twisted, otherwise it's not bad at all.
And Reimu's got devil horns. :smalltongue:
Randomly decided to draw Shades of Gray's current av. :smalltongue:

Yeah, the colours don't match exactly. Sue me. :smalltongue:
Not bad. The feet look really big though.
yes, as I said, keep the limbs at about half the head's width.
really, the head is the easiest way to keep track of proportion is simply to look at the head. height, torso width, length, all can be easily compared to the head.
I never posted these, did I? Old pics, I tried to fix them up a little.

My current character in BleachITP Reborn, a Bount who thinks she's a magical girl. Mostly a joke character for obvious reasons. :smalltongue:
Still have the poofy limbs thing. Or rather had, as these are old.
Anything new drawn recently?
They used to be poofier. And blurrier. And the hips were ridiculous. Mainly I just squashed things horizontally. :smalltongue:
That depends. What are the rules on nudity here? :smalltongue:Quote:

EDIT: Or I suppose I could post this masterpiece.
Possibly pointless insert: Use a raw skeleton first to arange the pose and proportions of a body. It makes things a lot easier.

Second insert: streamline the body first, then add definition (if necessary). Females tend to be more on the "soft and straight lines" side of things.

I do that.
...usually.
Right. Never mind me then. >_>
I've been meaning to do some Touhou avs, because it's weird to draw three "proper" pics without having any. :smalltongue:

Available for adoption, if anyone wants it.
You know, I just got confused as to whether this was the touhou thread or not. And what do you mean by "it's weird to draw three "proper" pics without having any"?
Reimu looks rather tired; must be why touhou 13 is taking a long time.
Hey Prime. the latest comment in my thread reminded me on something that I should link.
These two are my favourite drawing tutorial that I've ever found in DA. though, calling it tutorial might give people wrong idea. It's more to general 'how to draw better' that should give people ideas after they got the first step of drawing.
I hope this could be useful for you as it was for me.

Looks interesting. I'll be sure to try them out.
Here's a pic I did for someone's BleachITP character.
