Like the cover, and love obscure webcomics. Consider thyself supported.

Re: The Generica Chronicles (UPDATE: Prologue title page posted)
I am going to read this.:smallamused:
Nothing more to say until actual first page arives, but everything looks great and positive.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (UPDATE: Page 1 posted)
Page one posted. Now you have something that actually indicates the comic's quality.
V that's a good suggestion. In comic one, however, a lot of the background behind it is dark gray, so the white helps visibility.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (UPDATE: Page 1 posted)
The plot is looking cool so far. If I could make a suggestion, could the narration text not have a white background? I think that would help the effect. Still, it's a good comic.

Re: The Generica Chronicles (UPDATE: Page 2 posted)
Comic 2 is up. From now on, the comic will (hopefully) update twice a week because I had the comics up to here outlined before I started. I will write the future ones from scratch and have not yet drawn every character for them, so they'll take longer.
And yoshi, I took your advice in page two's last panel. Is that better?
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (UPDATE: Page 2 posted)
I liked it better, but that's to be expected. Cool, though. I wonder who that black-cloaked guy is. Of course, I'm supposed to.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (UPDATE: Page 2 posted)
Here's what I said regarding the cloaked figure on the jleuven.net forums:
Quote:
He's the main villain . . . but he is not the main villain. This will eventually make sense.
EDIT: I've posted three character portraits. Any comments?
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (UPDATE: 11-11: three character portraits)
I like them. Although the style is a bit odd, that will improve. Also, tiny bit of advice, after 1 month you can't change the thread title anymore, so you might want to remove the update name by then.
I like it. It is very mysterious.

What exactly do you mean by "odd?" Any advice is welcome.
And I knew about the 1 month rule, but thanks for the reminder.

Re: The Generica Chronicles (UPDATE: 11-11: three character portraits)
Alright, here is my advice:
First make the feet bigger and make the ends round. Also, I think it would look better if you would make the bodies shorter. I think it would look better that way, also make sure all the lines are equally thick. It looks a bit strange on Abiel. Also, I love his hair.

Re: The Generica Chronicles (UPDATE: 11-11: three character portraits)
I've posted the last two main characters. Part one begins tomorrow.

Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-14: Page 3 and a Linking banner)
Page three is up. This is the closest to fourth-wall breaking I intend to get.
Also, I'd appreciate it if anyone who likes the comic adds the linking banner I posted to their sig. Thanks.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-14: Page 3 and a Linking banner)
Nice with the names. Hehe, "Norm Al inn".
Well, I would, but it takes up too much space. I'm just going to provide a text link.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-14: Page 3 and a Linking banner)
I like the banner, but it's to big to really sig it. Provide one smaller and I will certainly put it in my signature.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-15: shrunken linking banner and original comic #1)
I posted the reworked banner.
Also, I posted the first comic from the original version of Generica. This is not the same as comic #1, but an earlier comic which I removed completely.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-15: shrunken linking banner and original comic #1)
Hey, do you have an update schedule? Just asking.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-15: shrunken linking banner and original comic #1)
Not really; the intended schedule was Tuesdays and Fridays, but I outdid that last week. Next week will probably have some overproduction too; I only have school for Monday and Tuesday.
So yes: the comic updates when I finish a comic, at least two times a week.
Unless you'd rather I stick to a two-a-week schedule and just keep a buffer. I won't complain about that.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-15: shrunken linking banner and original comic #1)
I spent a long time working on a comic for today; I had almost finished -- then inkscape froze.:smallfurious:
I'll try to redo the stuff I hadn't saved, but if you don't get a comic today, it will be tomorrow.
EDIT: I finished page 4 more quickly than expected.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-20: page 4)
Good stuff so far. The name "Generica" has a great ring to it. I like the gentle prodding of the fourth wall without actually speaking to the audience. I have a strong suspicion that Cale will be a Belkar-esque character. I look forward to seeing more of this, I think it has some good potential.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-20: page 4)
The best fighter in a day's travel, huh? Well, nice comic, anyway.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-23: page 5)
Page 5 is posted. I know the punchline is really just a redoing of page 4's, but I genuinely couldn't think of any other two panels to finish the page when I drew it. I promise never to do that again. I hope the finger puppets and plot exposition make up for it.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-23: page 5)
That was great. I'm still reading this comic.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-23: page 5)
Tsk. Didn't you promise not to break the fourth wall? :smallwink:
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-23: page 5)
Yeah. Looking back at this comic, it's not that good. I'll redo the last few panels when I get the chance, but I'm not going to make it #1 on my priority list.
EDIT: page five has been changed. I like this one better, but the original is now in the "original version comics" section.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-25: page 6)
New comic is up. This is a joke I thought of very early and have been looking forward to doing since I started the comic.
EDIT: How did I not notice the repeated panel until just now?? I'll fix that.
Done! That went quickly. Only took four minutes.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-25: page 6)
That's how a DWARF picks a lock, thar.
-
Re: The Generica Chronicles (11-25: page 6)
Heh, this isn't half bad. I like the humour, the last strip made me laugh.
As you post more strips your art style should improve, as that's probably the weakest part of this strip at the moment. Having said that, the humour is good, the story is set up okay, and the art isn't exactly bad, so all in all a decent start!

Re: Webcomic: The Generica Chronicles: Updates 2 or 3 times a week
Page seven is up. It's not as long as the others, but the longer version involved the worst pun ever, so I went with this one.
@V: The early comics were mainly plot-based. I'm currently in a section that's entirely intended to be funny, but isn't strictly necessary for the plot. I hope to have a good balance of the two.
-
Re: Webcomic: The Generica Chronicles: Updates 2 or 3 times a week
In the beginning, I wasn't such a fan of the humor, but either it's improving or the comic has just grown on me.
Love the last one. :P
