Mind if I join in? Im making...the dirger!
oh...it is...I HAVE A BETTER NAME: The black parader
Declaring right now that my class will be called Orchestrator. (as in someone who organizes an orchestra.)
The idea of the class following the idea of an orchestra, which by definition is "A group of instrumentalists, esp. one combining string, woodwind, brass, and percussion sections and playing classical music."
So I'm thinking I'll allow Orchestrator specialties for Wind, Percussion, and String and give the class different abilities for those specialties...
Alright, Gonna claim the Truesong Warrior, a Truenaming warrior class with music-themed utterances.
So, I hear dragon fire inspiration is fun... thinking a flexible class that plays with incarnum.
Thinking optional paths to grant blasting(with dragon fire), debuffing(with a debuf song), Buffing(with a buff song), and necorcarnum(with a summon and stuff...)
Might go with a class that lets you transform into music.
You know, as a unique take on the thing.
Time to set paper to pen and write the Calamity Singer.
It would be pen to paper but I forgot to pay the gravity bill.
Let's see, first time at this one so I can use couple of tips (mostly on numbers, nothing unfair). Was thinking of making a theme music class, as in "music embodying A".
On a side note, and with a grand inspiration for a class with a theme of "Art" hitting me last month, this one hit too close to home without acctually hitting it :smallannoyed::smalltongue:
Heh, every time I see someone making a drum based class, I suggest that it plays on its enemies with its weapons, and it appears that you agree.
Can anyone help me tighten up wording for Musical Form and Mystic Instrumentation?
I mean, if there is a way that I can possibly just say "you turn into an Unseen Servant, but can do X, Y, and Z extra things that has this many hit points", I will take it in a heartbeat.
And I kind of need help making talking into a cantrip. Later class features will make them better, like removing Language-Dependent from Speech, or having Glorious Noise replace any and all sounds that your body makes (basically, Perform in place of Move Silently). I'm kind of considering adding Lullaby to the list of cantrips that you can automatically use.
There will be some later additions to their "spell list", enhancements to Musical Form, and the like.
I recommend not tying it to unseen servant so strongly. Just define it as a separate thing altogether.
Since I'm realizing my class is very similar to the dreaded TRUENAMER! which i never had the (miss)fortune to see in use, anyone got a good source detailing what went horribly wrong about it?
Owe ya, and it's short and tidy. Thanks!
Three words Amechra: one level dip.
Well here goes, just put up the start of my participating class: The Birdsong Bard, an idea I've had for ages, since one of my players went with an awakened Sparrow Bard as his character (of course it was named Jack the Sparrow), thanks for putting this competition up, it might mean that I actually finishes my work on it :D
Is art necessary for the class entry to be qualified?
Great. Homebrewing's an art too, but not one that involves straight lines :P
That said, where do people get their art? When they need something peculiar, too?
anybody have antything to say about my black parader? Btw its a R.I.P to MCR tribute
Definitely interesting, feels a lot like a necromancer/bard (as of fluff). I like it, but sadly i don't have enough experience to give any useful advice :/
Got some stuff done for my Rock God class. Need to do the Lexica next, wondering if I need too much more by way of class features, and whether the class features need rebalancing.
For a class based on Charisma, how is, balance-wise, a damage bonus of cha+(cha x d4) sonic damage for a skill enabled as a move action, lasting until weapon is sheathed/dropped/dismissed and usable only with a prepared weapon?
if it needs rebalancing, what should i tweak?
So basically, as a move action, the character can roll some skill check, against X DC. It must be using a specific weapon to do this, which needs to be prepared in some way that presumably uses up X resources (gold, time, XP, whatever). If it succeeds, for as long as it holds the weapon, or until it dismisses the effect, all attacks deal an additional 1d4+1 points of Sonic damage per point of its Charisma Modifier. Right?
If so...it's pretty powerful. A move action is fairly cheap even before considering you can just activate before combat. At low level, your best ability score can range from +2 to +5 depending on ability score generation methods, attribute dependency, and race. +4d4+4 damage is pretty devastating at level 1.
At higher levels, you can generally expect a top ability modifier of +10 to +13. So you're looking about par with Sneak Attack, more reliable, but not as easy to boost (no Craven...presumably no TWF unless you can have multiple prepared weapons). By that point it probably isn't broken, but it's still a very nice damage bonus.
Maybe change to add Cha Mod to damage rolls, substitute Cha Mod for attack rolls, and deal +1 sonic damage per class level?
I should mention, it's first usable at lvl4.
So, you propose Cha instead of Str/Dex on attack rolls and Cha+ClassLevel in addition to strength on damage? (modifiers, ofc) That sounds fine, if I understood correctly.
That is correct.
Schnockers. I forgot to reserve a post for Utterances. Is it okay if I link to a Google Drive Document?
