Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
That'd be great! I'm going on Thursday. I'm also trying to arrange a go-back-to-Guy's-and-play-lots-of-games thing that afternoon/evening. Guy's willing to drive to Bradford and back once, to pick people up or drop them off or to hang out in Bradford instead.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Dang, I got lectures weekdays. :/
Who is guy and where is he located anyway?
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Evening? Maybe not worth an hour journey, though... Ah well, we can organise something for the weekend too!
Totally Guy, with whom I am staying, lives just outside of Leeds (on the Bradford side).

Weekend would be best for a larger meetup. Thurday I have to be in Bradford for 7pm as I have a rehearsal then.

Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Well, wandering around Bradford handing out resumes on Thursday, and playing games at Guys on, say, Saturday (assuming he's okay with that)?

Sounds like a plan!

Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Sweet.
Lime, you should come too. Grlump's awesome, he probably won't bite. Dunno about Bath.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
I've met Bath a couple of times now, and he's not bitten anyone at either of the meetups.
You should be safe, though I can't promise anything.

It's not hard for them to justify it, and at least they aren't making you take an unnecessary trip. After all, if you both tried out, he'd have relevant experience as well as already being trained in their specific procedures. It would be very easy for them to justify choosing him over you :smallfrown:
As for Saturday Leeds (it is Leeds I'd be travelling to, right?), outlook is... possible. I'll try to get a handle on things this week, see how my travel options look.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Yeah, he did specifically mention that the other person's experienced.
You should come! Guy's got a whole stack of awesome games I wanna try playing with more than 2 people...
And yeah, Leeds. If you come by train, you'll get off at... New Pudsey or Bramley? One of those.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
So here I am! I am up for a meet up, Friday, monday, weekends are all good. I live near Bramley Falls, the kinda Headingly Horeforth Bramley border.
Any objections to me going? And what time/date.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
And bleh, sorry for double post but my phone doesnt allow editting. I also have munchkin cthulu, which is a laugh to play.

Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Oh wow. Good thing I checked whether the forum glitched, cuz it did...
I'd be okay with you coming. Totally Guy gets veto, though, cuz it's his house, and he's seemed a little iffy about having too many people around. But I'll ask!
Hm... I think you might be within walking distance of here :smalleek: Wanna come over today and watch me apply for jobs? :smalltongue:
Regarding general event stuff: what time do you all think is good? Bath in particular, about what time would you be able to arrive?
(also the train stop would be Bramley Station. I just checked)

Depends where and time. If it is in walking distance, I guess, depends how badly work is kicking my ass.
Might be easier if you had a number I could give you a buzz or text on.

Well after college and work :P I live on Pollard Lane, by Bramley Falls.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
I'll be getting a bus in, probably.
Slightly concerned that I haven't seen Guy posting here okaying it all, though...
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
He seems fine with it. I just checked that he's alright with Trilby coming.
So, Lime. Between "slim" and "none", what are the chances you happen to be going to York tomorrow morning and so are able to pick up an application form for me? >.<
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
I'll see what I can do.
On MSN, by the way.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
I'm about, just at work all day. I'm anticipating a few guests this weekend huh...
I don't know whether to prep an rpg or stick to the board variety.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Just got back from Guy's. Lovely time, played some board game. Looking forward to seeing you again on sat ^^
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Indeed!
And next time we play, Guy will pay. Oh yes, he will pay =.=
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
What did you play, and how did Guy earn your ire?
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
We played Talisman, and Guy screwed me over a couple of times - most significantly taking away my talisman when I was close to the end.

As in, one step away from winning. We then spent the new few rounds of me trying to run my new character to middle, getting a talismin, and dying just before I could roll to reach the door.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
That is how Talisman is supposed to be played. Someone about to reach the middle? Turn them into a frog.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Yes but that's because you're evil in a very dashing hat, Thufir.
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Yeah, well, next time I've got a cunning plan. We gang up on guy and cast all our spells on him at once.

We.... almost bought you some books in Waterstones, almost bought you some awesome cheap shoes in TK Maxx, and almost had my backpack blown up by the security people. And saw Chronicles. Having failed to coax Dvil out of hiding to see The Woman In White with us. And talked about stuff. It was a good day :)
-
Re: Serpentine's Travel Diary Thingo-Whatsit
Ah yeah, Chronicle. (And it's Woman in Black :smallwink:)

Sounds good to me.
So, just to finalise: Tomorrow (Saturday) at around 1ish, Dr Bath, GrlumpTheElder, Trilby and Lime are gonna come to Guy's place in Bramley. If you turn up at Bramley Station (I think most of the buses stop near there, too), one of us will go get you.
Yay :3
