Re: [Nexus] The Hunting Grounds
[Forest edge]
Rosy eventually arrives at the edge of the forest area. She finds a steam and washes her knives and self clean of the beast's blood. She then sets herself into the hollow under a large tree that has a good view of the surrounding area.
From her pocket she pulls the monocle that appeared after the fight and turns it over in her hand a few times. She shrugs and lifts it to her eye.

Michicora was actually hoping for just that as she started to move sideways around the attacking woman and makes a fast stabbing motion into her leg. Just in and out with the scimitar and then retreat forward before she can counter-attack with the two-handed sword.

It's just as woozy from being drained, but it seems to be content to let Mateo bleed out and rot some for now, as he's proven to be a hard thing to kill, and letting him weaken himself before moving in can only be beneficial.
Mateo is slashed across the face, taking out his left eye and part of his nose. He certainly won't be much to look at after this fight, assuming he survives. Mateo turns to face it and hisses, pouncing at it. He'll try to pin it to the ground and suck it dry again, though this time he'll only stop if the Toxic Sliver attacks. The pounce isn't as effective as it should be- most of his legs have been dissolved.

The toxic sliver is in no shape to do anything more than snap at Mateo fruitlessly. The vampiric sliver leans back and raises its bony arm in the path of Mateo's lunge, aiming to skewer him between the lungs. Still, its reach isn't long enough to prevent him from latching on even if it does manage to stab him, and so the blood-sucking can begin, assuming this last blow doesn't finish him off.

The waxy sliver is undeterred by egg-throwings, quickly slipping around its intended trajectory and letting it explode on the sand beside it. The shell shrapnel cuts it up a bit, but doesn't stop it from gobling up the berry and healing once again.
The chomp, however, takes the wooden sliver almost completely by surprise, skinning some bark off its flank with sharp teeth and dispelling the super-mushroom's effects. It's much less intimidating now!
Assuming this new flesh-wound doesn't let the yoshi get away, the wooden sliver will try to bite down hard on the tip of his tail and dig into the sand with its claw, slowing him down.

Aww... Yellow really wanted that berry... Stupid splinters eating all his stuff!
Then the wood splinter bites down on Yellow's armored tail! Fortunately the armor holds and manages to prevent any injury. But then... getting the very end of one's tail chewed on isn't terribly serious to begin with.
Though it does slow Yellow down significantly!
And speaking of chewing the Chomp will aim to chomp down HARDER before shaking the wood splinter viciously! Probably trying to break its spine. Or at least cause some major spinal trauma.
As for Yellow... The wax sliver is out of reach. However!

The sliver's arm does pass through Mateo's heart, but since I don't think the Vampire Sliver's arm is made of wood it doesn't do much. If it is, in fact, made of wood, then Mateo is paralysed and can't do much until it is removed. This includes drinking the vampire sliver's blood.
The main problem with vampires is that they have a large list of weaknesses, but if those weaknesses aren't used it's hard to stop them. Decapitation, fire and holy energy are pretty good ones, though slicing him into lots of small pieces would have been effective too.

Re: [Nexus] The Hunting Grounds
[Northwestern Caverns]
Well that's certainly unpleasant.
In that brief moment, DC takes a somewhat unusual course of action. He abruptly launches himself further up into the air, fortunately stopping before he can hit the ceiling as well.
That puts him over the creature's extended neck.
The psychic's dagger hand suddenly flares up with an aura of its own, the purpose of this becoming clear when a translucent red blade seems to extend from the weapon, lengthening it so something more akin to a (rather thin) sword.
He maneuvers in midair and plunges the weapon downward, aiming the extremely sharp blade at the monster's neck.

Oh well. Might as well make the best of the situation. Mercutio doesn't activate his tattoos just yet - he approaches the other hunter unarmed for now. With Thenadier's focus on the far-off dragon fight, he probably won't see the devil.
However, Thenadier might notice it getting a little darker as a cluster of clouds cross over the sun. Despite the fact that they're quite dark and heavy looking, they seem to be the only clouds in the sky. There's about four of them. And aww, they all look like fluffy little sheep. =3
And they're getting bigger, too. Much bigger. It's hard to tell if they're growing or falling - clouds are freaking huge, man. As they get larger, a light hail begins to start falling on and around Thenadier.
Thenadier is in fact gazing at the dragon. He takes out a golden spyglass. He instinctively looks around though before pressing the spyglass to his eye. However, he does not see Mercutio. The grey haired, grey eyed, and ill-tempered hunter looks up to the skies and scowls. Rain. Might rain soon. Dark rain clouds. But...that's odd. Only four clouds. However, Thenadier pays no attention to it. Instead he scowls some more. He hated rain. Rain was useless to him, therefore unimportant. When he was imprisoned in the sand dunes of his own gem he had hoped and preyed for rain...but it never came. He didn't need the rain. Thenadier lived on little water and bread usually anyway. However it starts hailing. He does not mind the small chunks of ice, but Mercutio would hear the loud clanks coming off Thenadier's armor as the hail crashes into it. Thenadier must be wearing armor under that coat. Mercutio migt want to make himself known, for Thenadier turns and looks about. Strange weather. Could be a mage nearby. ...Hello? Make yerself known. Be a shame to shoot you by accident it would. Thenadier pockets the spyglass and takes out the wonderfully made rifle.

Re: [Nexus] The Hunting Grounds

Surprisingly, DC will find himself missing. The instant the beast realized his strike had missed, it twisted its neck off to the side to avoid a counterattack, followed by dropping down to the ground.
It sniffs the air, its flabby body very likely easily catching the psychic's scent and pinpointing his location. Given how powerful its nose must be to operate with no eyes, I would suspect DC will have a hard time hiding from it should he choose to try.
-
Re: [Nexus] The Hunting Grounds
[Northwestern Caverns]
Fast thing for something so huge, isn't it?
But that's alright.
I could use something challenging anyway.
DC follows up by remaining where he is in midair, but telekinetically casting the dagger-sword into the cave floor. The gathered psychic power in the weapon discharges around it, blasting up fragments and debris.
Then he raises another hand, and said bits of rock of varied size float into the air and fly at the monster at high speed.
-
Re: [Nexus] The Hunting Grounds
[Northwestern Caverns]
It isn't fast, actually, it just realized that the prey had moved. the scent of human is a distinct one, and if this beast knows anything, it's that humans will strike back if you miss. It was entirely prepared to dodge the blade.
This? Not so prepared. That said, it'll take something more powerful than stones to piece it's hide, the skin not even bruising from the impact as the fat underneath dissolves the force.
During the onslaught, the creature's tail connects to the floor of the cavern, grounding it. This followed by opening it's mouth once the stones are done hitting it and firing a blast of ball lightning from within towards DC's location.

Cat escapes to bee-free pastures! Once she stops to rest, she'll find two objects waiting for her. The first is a simple looking bow. It's made from wood and fits well in her hand, but there's little special about it. Next to the bow, however, is a quarrel. It's made of some sort of chitin, with a black leather shoulder-strap. Inside the quarrel are twenty perfect arrows. Inspecting them reveals that they are each tipped in barbs that resemble the insects she just fought. When fired at a target, the barbs will dig into skin or flesh and then break off from the shaft so they can't be dug out. They're also poisonous.

Lightning?
Now that's not something you'd ever guess from the looks of that thing.
The psychic promptly drops back down to get out of the way as the creature fires that at him, the dagger in the floor springing back into his hand.
DC evidently decides to oblige the monster's desire for ranged combat, as his beam rifle (the very same as the one pictured in this avatar) springs into existence next to him as it's summoned from its storage.
Said weapon is swiftly grabbed and fired at the beast, a beam of deadly, hot energy lancing out at it.

The beam strikes its hide directly, just above the head, but beyond a black mark the creature barely seems fazed.
That said, DC had better move. Now. It looks like this creature knew the attack would miss, as it's head is lunging out, extending a great deal from its body directly towards DC's location, it's great slavering maw looking for dinner.

Not that the slivers would know any of those weaknesses. It looks like they've missed their chance to cut him into ribbons as well, since the vampiric sliver's limb is made of bone rather than wood. Mateo can begin drinking its already horribly depleted stock of blood, although it will attempt to bite his arm one last time before expiring from bloodloss.
Sadly, there's likely not enough left in it to heal him completely, and the toxic sliver has nearly bled out from its trio of headwounds, so unless he stoops to licking the blood from the ground, he may be out of luck for healing unless he has some other means of doing so.
Still, this counts as a victory for him, despite the struggle that preceded it.

The waxy sliver is engulfed by the wave of horrible fire! However, the yoshi's celebration may be shortlived as it bursts from the explosion, covered in melting, molten wax and flaming fungus as it hurls itself bodily at the yoshi's face, not aiming claws or beak at its head but instead just trying to wrap around it blindly and share some of this burning pain.
The wooden sliver is caught fully by the Chain-Chomp this time, six inches of tail stuck between its teeth as it flails wildly. It stubbornly doesn't let go of the yoshi though, even though a painful crack can be heard from where the chomp's teeth are mauling it. Mushrooms blooming at a rapid pace, it uses its enhanced strength to try to haul the yoshi back and fling it skyward, then haul it sharply back down. It's pivoting around its torso at the moment, so even though the majority of its tail is uselessly broken it can still manage this for now.

Re: [Nexus] The Hunting Grounds

The wood sliver starts hauling on Yellow to fling him into the ground right as the waxy sliver leaps out of the burning conflagration!
Well!
That's quite a bit of doom.
Yellow decides that helping the wood sliver is the way to go and LEAPS backwards right as the creature tries to lift him! Hopefully the sudden change in momentum will take the monster by surprise! Either way this is probably going to wrench Yellow's tail something nasty... Yep! There it is. Nasty snapping sound. Something probably just broke.
With the yoshi aiming to jump behind the sliver (possibly snapping its neck in the process) that leaves just the wood sliver and the Chomp to get glomped on by the burning waxy sliver. And upon landing?
kaTHOOOM!
A seimsmic shockwave erupts from Yellow's landing point, possibly hitting the wood splinter with enough force to either knock its jaws loose, break its teeth, or even rip off the end of Yellow's tail armor.
As for the Chomp...
More gnawing and shaking!

And that about does it. The waxy sliver deflects off the chomp and begins succumbing to its burny fate, and the seismic shockwave seems to have utterly unhinged the wooden one's jaw. A rather anticlimactic ends to this drawn out fight, but it seems catastrophic existence failure happens even to slivers.
Dun dun dun dun! Yoshi has defeated a team of five! Of course, he just barely survived that, so I hope whatever reward he receives can help him recover. Defeating a team of these beasts was a huge accomplishment, and hopefully the Goddess rewards him accordingly.

Re: [Nexus] The Hunting Grounds

Oh for-
DC doesn't bother finishing that thought as he flies off to the side, really not liking the idea of getting eaten by that thing.
The ineffectiveness of his attacks thus far irks him, and this time he breaks out a black, circular blade with a metal ball in its center, which remains in the air-then flies toward the monster, telekinetically wielded. Should it hit, the creature will find that the blade is both superheated and exceptionally sharp.
It appears DC's been messing with weapons clearly not meant to be wielded by non-psychics.

Re: [Nexus] The Hunting Grounds
Big Game Hunting
Across the open and wild plains of the hunting grounds rolls a motley procession of cars, occupied by an even more motley assortment of mobsters, smugglers and crooks. A stylish black 1930s Oldsmobile Convertible heads up the pack of anachronistic automobiles, flanked on either side by much newer, leaner sports car covered in decals and pinstriping, three more cars -two, a red Super 88 and a black Model T, distinctly vintage, the last a much more modern monster truck- bringing up the rear.
And leanin' out of the passenger side window of the front car, a tommy gun in hand paw, a cigar between his chompers and the wind rushing past his ears, is none other than Don Don Don, leader of the Mouse Mafia and big game hunting enthusiast.
Of course, considering him, his entourage and the cars they drive are all mice and mice-sized, respectively, "big game" for them is more along the lines of an owl or a stoat, maybe a rattlesnake if they're feeling particularly dicey.
In the driver's seat is Fritz, a speckled and bespectacled gray mouse, the Don's bodyguard, right-hand man and possibly best friend, not a front-line brawler like his boss but a crack shot with any gun you care to name. In the vehicles to either side are more of the Don's muscle, the ones following behind various capos who've earned enough favor with the boss to be invited along for the hunt.
Every one of the transports is packed to the gills with firepower, from simple mouse-sized versions of normal Earth weaponry to packs of plastic explosive, harpoon cannons and even a missile launcher or two. One really can't be too prepared when heading into place like this.

Victory!
Yellow gives a "Yosh..." of a sigh, his shoulders slumping. The edge of his vision is a bit blurry and he can tell he isn't in a very good spot. His foes were mighty and they fought well!
And as such he decides to honor them in traditional yoshi fashion.
By eating their corpses.
The three dead slivers will be "bNOM!"ed and popped out as eggs, healing Yellow up a bit in the process. He'll then head over to his belt and pick it up, his expression a bit on the irritated side of things.
Ah well.
Oh!
The yoshi picks around in his teeth a bit until he collects some wax! If he needs more he can collect a bit off the ground too. He'll throw his belt over his shoulder like a sash and use the wax to seal the ends back together!
Only item left is his talk-box... that he stows, then chains the Chomp to the back of his armor before setting off again!
