MM, did I ever tell you how awesome your Oots are? :smalltongue:

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XIX: To FAIL, or not to FAIL?
The people that are attacking the Big Bad Shades: Almighty Salmon, Threeshades, Leroy, Igon Minoblendy, Mechafox, Chriky, Firedrake, Stephen Mask, Nameless (although he may want to fight the minions), Eita, CrimsonAngel, Q and Q (although they are already in the fortress, so they must arrive by an other way than Mass Fly).

I don't see why we can't just use one of the other names I suggested or something similar that's not an acronym.
Okay, I'm gonna make a few things clear:
The name started as a joke, where the hero in that show said to the wicked Igon Minoblendy something like 'Your organization isn't a success, pal. It's a FAILure'. A bunch of people thought it was kinda funny, and so started referring to the ALF as FAIL. It isn't universal, but it is used occasionally. Especially in jokes.
So that is why it needs to be that name, because otherwise it never would have originated.
/\Neither am I. I'm going to help Nameless and Kev.

But people making a joke out of a group of people that go around killing people seems extreamly unrealistic, even for ABR. I just don't see it.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition !
It did kill people, and yet some make jokes about it.

Okay, let's make a comparison, alright?
Now, for this comparison, let's go back to the Revolutionary War of America. Around the beginning. Now, the British are very annoyed with us, but don't see us as much of a threat, because they vastly outnumber us and have tons of Sovice chips. :smallwink:
It is perfectly possible that some British folk referred to the rebels by an insulting name. SOME, not ALL, but it is possible that they would mock them. Possibly mocking us in a way related to Yankee Doodle, or something. I'm not good with history. But my point still stands. If they don't see us as a terrible threat, more as an annoyance, they might call us 'FAIL'. Especially if it came from a popular TV show.

The difference is is that the ALF are doing it now, not a hundreds of years ago.
People didn't make jokes about it when it was happening.

True, but the difference is is that those are two countries against one another, it was good for moral.
This is a nation against a terrorist group. I don't have to give you examples of terrorist groups, and do we have a popular joke about them? Or a joke name for any of them?

This is good for moral, as well.
These terrorist groups you speak of are real threats. The ALF is a minor annoyance. It can do some damage, but it cannot win. It is up against enormous numbers. It is up against incredible technology. It is, in short, up against Avbaroy.
Also, not many of the victim governments being attacked by these terrorists you speak of have Them on their side. :smallamused:

The ALF are just as much, if not more or a threat then lets say Hezbollah is.
And those were jokes made at a country, we see those throughout history, not at a group of terrorists.

Either not-FAIL is winning or it's a tie, I'm not sure what Falgorn ended up voting for.

Not according to Them. They tell the population that ALF is just a minor, but persistent, threat, and people believe Them, as they have no reason not to.

It's currently a tie at 7:7.

Wait a minute, here. The ALF is fairly strong, and against a single country, yes, it might be a threat. But the ALF is against a CONTINENT, which has superior technology, superior numbers, superior defenses, and superior morale. Superior in every way. It is quite easy for at least a few to joke about that.

HA! We have the reaper, a few tieflings, guinoids, pikalites, a butt load of monsters, and a bunch of epic spell casters. Not to mention the other epic level classes, like 3S. And my widdle Ami will get her miniature otter army to gnaw their eyes out. *proud of Ami*

Actually, to my knowledge, Lying is the only epic guy. And you forgot Salmon (understandable, seeing as he hardly ever posts here).

Hey. What? He's just as old as Lyinginbedmon, subtracting one month of course. You do not go around the planes for ~600 years and not get into fights.

Sure! C'mon, guys! Let's toss in the Newbies!
Heh, that reminds me. I just watched the LotR last night (they...left out...BOMBADIL... *choke*), and when I watched the Siege of Helm's Deep, I kept looking at the old guys and young and all and thinking, 'hey, they shouldn't be put to waste. Let's strap some suicide vests to 'em! Or just toss 'em into the catapults!'
:smalltongue:
Also, did anybody ever notice that when Sam and Frodo are brought to the Tower nearby Mordor, that didn't happen in the book? I ask this because Sam says at some point, 'By rights we shouldn't even be here!', which made us all crack up.
Okay, I'm done babbling.

I'm too young to die! Or be turned into shade spawn I guess...
...The tower near Mordor? Do you mean the time when Frodo was paralyzed by Shelob and brought to the guard tower, and the Sam had to go rescue him? Cause that happened in the book.

One old guy in a fortified position could take out more orcs than a flailing human missile. Using corpses on the other hand...

That was in the book, unless my memory is completely gone. But I'm fairly sure it happened.
