It doesn't feel like the comparison is the same.
As I said I have little knowledge beyond that so yeah... Ignore my silly rambling if it means nothing, thats usually the best thing to do.
Compare mitochondrial DNA, which has a fairly static mutation rate (we use it to tell how "far removed" humans are), as well as simply comparing DNA sequences. It takes time, but thanks to the scientists who figured out how to do it, it's not particularly hard any more.
Also: humans didn't evolve from chimps. We have a common ancestor; we diverged - and I still haven't bothered to look it up - something like 5 million years ago. I'm not quite sure what you were trying to say there, but I did point out the difference in groups; "birds & dinosaurs" is a category comparison, vs "humans & chimps" as two very specifics.
Anyway: yeah, birds are basically postdinosaurs. I never argued that. I simply argue "birds and dinosaurs have more in common than humans and chimps" for a number of reasons. One good reason I forgot is that mammals have a LOT of junk DNA, which prevents them from changing quickly. The mutations usually happen in the junk DNA and don't seem to do anything, where as birds do not have a lot of DNA. Mutations are much more easily expressed in birds, which means they are going to speciate quicker.

I just noticed that the waiters here are shirtless and wearing neck bands... they're slaves.

Also interesting to note that most people at the table have not yet been served their phoenix pate in the first comic (and you can see the slave in the foreground carrying the tray), but they all have food by the second panel.
Those slave waiters work fast!

At seventh panel, Kitty is annoyed/angry to the Roy's plan.
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Actually. I think he's annoyed at being picked up and lifted high in the air. But yours is a possible interpretation.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
It's showing that he's not comfortable with Durkon and/or the way Durkon is holding him.

It could also be related to being placed that near to a giant purple worm.

Nah, have you ever held a cat like that when the cat didn't like it? They twist around (rubber spines and all) to bite and scratch you. They don't hiss forward.
Edit: and don't forget that he eviscerated the last person to threaten/mistreat Belkar.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Oooh, a fun thread. I missed a LOT of things on my first readthrough.
One of my favorites is that this strip was a long distance callback to the fact that Durkon is really no good at math. (Though he's doing really well with counting his words for Sending)
Another thing I missed at first was that in Panel 2 in this one, you can see the dot that is Vaarsuvius blasting away at goblins through the gap in the wall.
There's also a few Fridge Logic moments, that leave me wondering things like what happened to the +5 Air Freshener of Pineness, and also how Haley has clothes that Celia can wear with her wings.

Does it matter what happened to the air freshener? It was hardly needed once Roy was resurrected...unless you're implying he smells badly in any case. :smallwink:
As for the clothes, Celia says in that very strip that she had to make some adjustments to them (like taking in the waist to make them fit)--one assumes making holes for the wings was another adjustment that she didn't bother to mention because it was self-evident!

Nah, I don't think it's important. But you know, it's +5, so maybe it was valuable. I guess I'm just idly curious about whether they sold it, or if it's still stuffed in one of Haley's Bags of Holding. It's one of those that might still have a chance to resurface as a brick joke.
As for the wings, I just mentioned them because it was something that occurred to me when I read back through the strips, but did not think about initially.

Haley needs to have extra room in her tops in case her half-camel hump shows up. Obviously.
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
It's not like Haley never had a bare-back dress...

I don't recall if I noticed first time round, but I certainly had forgotten by now that spice turns your eyes blue... (I think that's how it went, right?)

Yeah, Haley was the half-dragon. V is half-camel And Elan is half-witted, and Roy is half-mad

The best thing about this is that the more ridiculous one is the one that's "canon".

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
Roys bag of tricks runs out of critters here
Yet he still has some here
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
That's just the way it works. Ten animals a week.

The bag will only work so many times per day. It doesn't ever run out of Critters completely.

Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
HERE!
More precisely... first panel, last dialogue box.
Is Rich/Shojo hinting at/foreshadowing a future fight between the OotS and the Snarl?
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
That while Haley and Elan are sleeping in this strip, Elan has cactus prickles on him while Haley has the cactus flower.
-
Re: Things you never noticed II: I never noticed the first thread
In strip 468,

Haley has either a heart tattoo or an arrow wound on her back.
Also, Lein swimming back to the ship on Razor in 482

It's a tattoo.
She mentions it here, panel 9.
"I have a tattoo you've never seen"

That's the way this would work if it was a Final Fantasy game, I think. But it also seems the implication is that the heroes would need to be the same level as the Gods, so freaking epic levels. I'm not sure if the comic lasts long enough for them to gain that many levels.
