Not to mention that the bullet would annihilate upon contact with air. Or the barrel, for that matter. Thus killing the user except in perhaps the case of a god or something.
Now, a halfway sensible use of antimatter would be a cluster of particles suspended magnetically inside a bullet, where a vacuum could prevent it from annihilating until it hit a target. This also conveniently lowers the amount of energy stored within the shot vastly, making it halfway sane for use.

Re: [Nexus] OOC 35: Winter is Coming
I don't plan on using anti-matter anything again. Didn't realize the power. :smalleek:

Re: [Nexus] OOC 35: Winter is Coming
I think the important thing is to say "I use <attack x> that is likely to have <effect y>" when you do combat. Noodle's oxygen virus in AMEN is an example where this worked just fine. The idea of oxygen having DNA is nonsensical, but because he explained exactly what it did, everyone was able to respond to the attack.
If you just say "I use <attack x>" without naming the effects, and it's an attack that exists in RL, then people will tend to respond as if it had the same effects as it would have in RL. In the Louv're Tower scene, it just said that a guard fired an anti-matter shot.
Luckily, rather than assuming the entire thread just went kablooey, TE brought it to the OOC thread for clarification. Then a physics debate ensued, because, you know, geeks hang out here. :smalltongue:

Re: [Nexus] OOC 35: Winter is Coming
The virus is completely impossible in real-life, but in the Nexus it works...somehow. Admittedly, I know very little about virology. But, as long as you say what it does, it's fine. If a little bit crazy. But that's Newus. What Happyturtle said.

I think a particle beam might also be somewhat feasible? You'd have to create a vacuum within the barrel somehow, and even then it would annihilate the moment it hit the air outside, but the resulting energy might still be focused enough to aim?
Of course, you'd still be an idiot for carrying anti-matter onto the battlefield in any form. One sunder check and it's off to meet your maker.

Don't forget, you can get family Thanksmas portraits done in the Thanksmas thread! Hopefully they'll turn out something like this.

There is no answer from within. On the desk is a plastic bottle filled with water, a chipped mug several broken pencils, a pencil sharpener and a box of matches. In the glove box of the desk is a pair of gloves, a bag of raisins, several parts from a pistol and a box of pistol rounds.
The body is that of a woman, quite young by the look of her, wearing a one-sleeved wool shirt and a leather skirt. The other sleeve, and her arm, is lying on the floor nearby. Around the wrist of her severed arm is an old digital watch with no display, and should the Adventurer search her he'll find a purple apple, a wind-up electric torch with an LED bulb and a crude knife strapped to her thigh.
Also, does anybody fancy encountering a D20 Artefact? I fancy dropping one somewhere.

Anyhow, is there anyone looking to kill something in the hunting grounds? I have seven humanoids that I'm willing to kill off since I can't think of anything else to do with them other than go out with a bang.

*pokes C'nor to Hunting Grounds
Because it's the basic plot behind the book Angels & Demons by Dan Brown? The prequel to The Da Vinci Code? :smalltongue:

I have a full-human warrior who could run into one, if you like?

Re: [Nexus] OOC 35: Winter is Coming
Excellent! Where do you want it, and would you prefer a ring, a doorframe, a book, a potion or... Um, that's the unclaimed ones. Most of the claimed ones I could probably reintroduce; I haven't seen some of their owners in a very long time, either players or characters.
-
Re: [Nexus] OOC 35: Winter is Coming
Zefir, if you want Jeu to partcipate in the investigation of the clinic, you can do it. Since you and BR have PCs in the scene, I'll leave it to you.

Re: [Nexus] OOC 35: Winter is Coming
You know, Sakura is actually still holding onto a D20 object. I keep meaning for her to do something with it. I will have to make a point of doing that sometime. I'll let you know when I do.

That depends on how horribly each of those would destroy her life.
Anywhere would probably work, though. Maybe use the Nest thread, since that's basically become my plot thread? :smalltongue:

Right, angels and demons. A weird combo of religion and sciency stuff.

Wonky sympathetic magic stuff, basically. If he'd breathed in the West Wind that Spreagadh infused with her power, it would, for those purposes, have counted as accepting it, and making it a part of himself, both of which would have made it much easier to affect him with it.

Re: [Nexus] OOC 35: Winter is Coming
Book it is! Hope for the 'Grimoire of Fluffy Bunnies'.
OK, I don't normally follow the Nest, but that'll do. Any particular location tags you want me to use? It'll probably be somewhere stand-out-ish anyway- a stump in a clearing, an ornate bookstand in a mysterious library that wasn't there yesterday, the usual kind of ominous and slightly creepy place.

Re: [Nexus] OOC 35: Winter is Coming
Would that give you access to the spells practiced one the Elemental Plane of Rabbits?
And maybe... [Abandoned Library]? I'm thinking some sort of moldering, but not destroyed, semi-Victorian building, since that's the kind of mood I've been in lately, but it's up to you. Tlannae can be wherever.
Also, Beans, we should do something with the Plane of Rabbits. Any ideas?

Uhhhhhhhhh...
I...
Rabbit golems made entirely of rabbits?
-
Re: [Nexus] OOC 35: Winter is Coming
No- I picked the four most interesting results from the other books and doubled them under that title. Of the four, three involve Necromancy, and two Haemomancy. But that's spoilers, really.
Anyway, I'll go find the Nest and post.

Wasn't it more like a weird rabbity paradise or something? (We need a QT so we can keep track of all this stuff... o_.) I know we talked about this back when you were making Cabinetopia, or at least I'm pretty sure we did. Though those are probably a thing there, yeah.
(Perhaps we could bring in a couple of half-elementals from there or something? It sounds like it might make for interesting things, at least.)
