To the first question- to evade the evil self-aware internet servers, why else?
To the second question- you have missed the terrifying moment in which microsoft's headquarters achieved sentience...

Late for the party, but...yes? :smalltongue:
What's wrong with Glasgow? It even has an airport!
Leicester gets my first preference, though.

Clearly, I should now steal Lix's avatar and watch as the forum implodes into some sort of centaur-based singularity.
...and then end up getting brutally *stabbed* by smuchmuch for stealing his/her shtick. >.>

It depends. I find trains very expensive in this country.

Not necessarily. if a date is set relatively early, you can get away with very reasonable prices for flights.
There are two airports in the Glasgow area that I could make a run to pick up people at if need be (Glasgow Intl. (GLA) and Prestwick (PIK)).

Also, you could figure in that by going by plane, you will cut down severely on travel time, especially if you're dahn sarth. Either an hour and a bit plane ride from London or a 9 hour train journey.
Could cut down on a night's accommodation, that could.

According to Journey Planner, it's only 6 hours... vive le difference!
However, having done some searches to satisfy my curiousity, if you were to book in October, your plane to and from Glasgow would come in at about 60-70; your train ticket at about 100-140. The train ticket could probably be made cheaper with more looking, the air ticket has a few hidden charges, but still...

Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
Im just going to throw info at this thread and hope it sticks.
I live in Gloucestershire, and am limited to public transport. That said its easy enough for me to get to Brum, That there London or Brizzle.
should y'know, anyone be planning anything,

Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
Hello, king_clumsy! Welcome to the thread (and the forum in general!)
We are still in the very early phases of planning for the winter meetup. At the moment, the destinations that have been suggested are Leicester, Glasgow and London... with a slight preference for Leicester.
A lot of people move using public transport, so there's no need to worry about that.
If you keep an eye on this thread you can follow all the proceedings :smalltongue:

Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
I would think that there will be a new thread popping up in a week or three, that will start the proper discussion of when and where we have the next meet.
This thread is basically in the 'winding down'-phase at the moment.

the first step to when we seriously start considering where we are meeting next time is the start of the new thread. before that it's all banter.
I'm surprised Thu hasn't started one yet... it's only 6 months away!
also: I vote Douglas, IoM. :smallamused:
Edit: Gorram it Archie stop ninjaing me
Double edit: it's not as funny now we've changed avis again.

I disagree, if we hold it on the Isle of man, we may as well go for something really spectacular and hold it at the summit of Snaefell (which even has public transport connections- but might be better suited to a summer meetup) Alternatively we could hold it in Londonderry

Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
OK guys, so I finally finished writing my blog post about the meetup, if anyone's interested in my perspective on things and stuff.
That being done, I'll probably start a new meetup thread in a day or two if no-one else does it first.

Re: UKitp 11 - Y'all should join us in the fun!
If anyone remembers playing Dungeon! (Hamish's board game), I'm hoping to run a game starting September. Currently I'm just sorting things out in preparation, then I'm off on a plane and won't be ready till the end of August.
Is anybody interested in playing? I'd be DM, hoping for a turn a day, and hoping for 4 (max 5, really) players.
