Interesting. I wonder what the replacement Linear Guild members will be like. How many opposites of Belkar are there who could fit into an evil party?
How many CE chars. are there that can fit into a mostly LG party?
Oooo. Evil. Brilliant.
I just love that even Nale is referring to Belkar as
"the creepy little psycopath".
Top notch comic!
I liked Thog in his nightcap.
It's 'psychopath'! 'Psychopath'!
Dang it...
[edit] Nale seems to be making a strategic error. If Wooden Forest is as dangerous as he thinks, it's entirely possible that no adventuring group has managed to claim the starmetal. We'll just have to wait and see.
It's in the comic, blame Keith Baker. :PQuote:

Dang, that confusion again. That's Rich. Rich Baker.Quote:

I got some weird looks at work (as I make sound effects while reading the comic.) Ominous bass *duh-duh-daaaaaa* when the good blacksmith was revealed as evil in disguise turned into twangy banjo *dner dnu dnee dnee, dnee dnee, dnee dnee noooo* on the last panel.
I'm glad Linear is back. Can't wait to see the new members.

What I really like was the little teddybear in Thogs hand... Oh, and the fact that Nale picks him up after a Sleepover, implying that Thog is the mental equivalent of a small child...
Gotta love that.
Well....I didn't see that coming. I figured that Roy's sword couldn't really have been made out of starmetal, if it was Xykon wouldn't have been able to break it. After all, the stuff is virtually indestructible.
Quick question RE: the voting incentive.
If a Dire Lemming kills itself during combat, do you get XP for it? If so, that's officially the Best. Monster. Ever. (At least for power gamers.)
Somehow, I think the closest Elan gets to a dark purpose is a flashlight.Quote:

for todays comic, i can't wit for the invetbile fight between the OoTS and the NEW LG.
its gonna be so cool!
I wanted to register, in order to post that I found today's strip very disturbing.
On the surface, Thog turning the blacksmith into his pet "dog" is mildly amusing because it's just another example of Thog's childlike mentality.
But the blacksmith begging for help makes it just way too creepy. Suddenly Thog isn't so charming anymore, because he's dehumanized someone in a way that's a little too reminiscent of the atrocities at Abu Ghraib prison, or the film "Dogville."
And before anyone gets on a high horse defending the strip or the creator, this isn't a request for the creator to withdraw the strip, or change it in any way. I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who felt that today's strip was far more disturbing than funny.
Ah, but you missed the challenge the Dire Lemming presents. It is not a solitary creature. It is a heard animal.Quote:

I KNEW it! I knew I'd see a whole new page on this board after that comic.
And lemmings...don't.....migrate!
It's a myth. Complete myth.
Ah, but these are DIRE lemmings we're dealing with, Bedbugs. And while ordinary lemmings might be content to be made the subject of addictive puzzle games, DIRE lemmings do indeed migrate--in a most DIRE fashion. Muh ha ha ha ha ha...
Okay, fine. I can't make migration, even dire migration, intimidating. Can't blame a guy for trying.
What about the DIRE MIGRATION OF DOOOOOM!!!Quote:

Ever since strip #51, where Thog murders an innocent sylph just because she's there, all the while thinking about puppies, he has intentionally straddled the line between "cute" and "horrifically violent". I want people to be unsure if Thog is an innocent who is lead to evil by his buddy Nale, or if he is truly as black-hearted, just dumber.Quote:

However, if it makes anyone feel better, I was attempting to imply that it was Nale who "gave" Thog his "puppy". It was an easy way to keep the real blacksmith out of the way and keep Thog busy while he enacted his wicked plans. And no one can deny that Nale is thoroughly evil.
The strip kinda freaked me out too, 'cause I have some friends who... 'play that way.' :-/ And it creeps me out when they start telling me details I really don't want to hear!
So I guess Thog was mistaken when he said he would make a "Good" puppy-daddy ;)Quote:

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only person terrifed by the last panel in the 20/1st comic.
This antagonist group is actually, properly evil. Not a lame joke group like 8bit, or any number of RP comics I could name. That's not to say they're particularly subtle, which makes for funny, if scary funny. Last panel as example, and plotting within view of the entire village - note wenches fleeing succubus.
I'm looking forward to meeting these lot again, sorta.
