Occasionally, 'Gentles' will be used as a shortened version of Gentlemen. 'Gentiles', refers to something else entirely.
One letter can make a world of difference.

Correct spelling: it can prevent you from calling someone a heathen

In addition, in the early middle ages, asking if somebody was "gentle" (as an adjective) was asking if they were of noble blood.

Ok, I am annoyed. I finally got acess to a 64bit computer, and the technic launcher, and when I try to connect to the tekkit server, it says "Requires mod tubestuff." What the hell?

What problem cant be solved with the proper application of Nuclear Weapons.... Now to find a use for the large hole near my base.
I think i may just light it up, roof it over and forget it was there (saves filling it in with something and hopefully the taint will not come back - even if it does there will be a pre-made deep wall to block it)

1.3 thoughts?
Was there a discussion on a new map for the main server? The old one is feeling its age. (Wasn't it generated in Beta 1.0?)
Also, did we decide what we are doing with the Hardcore world? True Hardcore (Die and be banned for life) Harder Hardcore (Die and be banned for 1 day) or Hard (Difficulty Hard, no fancy mods)? I'd like the middle option or the last, if possible.

Re: Minecraft Thread X: In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the ... SSSSSSSS
Pretty sure it was generated right before the end of Alpha.

Re: Minecraft Thread X: In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the ... SSSSSSSS
What is this i've been hearing about Tekkit? Do we have a server running it now?
Also, as a relic of an earlier era, all of my stuff is on the original world. :smalltongue:

I reckon it should just be hard. As far as I know it was just meant to be vanilla-ish and the hardcore aspect was just a workaround before the current worldgroup functions existed.

Use MultiMC and IDResolver and install exactly the mods you want and only those?
MultiMC also has a handy GUI for adding and removing mods. IDResolver automatically detects when a mod has been uninstalled and frees up the ID blocks it took up.
No fuss, no muss.

On the login page, click options. There'll be a drop down menu and options for selecting the build for whatever mod selection you've selected in the launcher.

The server is running 3.1.1, well the latest version is 3.1.2
Delete the tekkit folder, under the technic launcher folder
on windows its here:
%appdata%\.techniclauncher
Open the launcher
Don't Login
Click Options
Check the box Manual Build Selection
Change the drop down for select modpack to 3.1.1
click Ok

The fates once again conspired to not let me play on the tekkit server. "Resposnse code 503 for URL something something" Now what happened to the server? Either that or I get "Took too long to log in"

One , two,
three,
four.
Basically, you want to know what kinds of traps there are, you can't get any better than a complete the monument style map. Super hostile and vinyl fantasy are two that I've seen/played that have lots of good traps.
Puzzles on the other hand, not a clue.

Yea, pretty much anything done by Vechs is going to contain some nasty traps.
As far as puzzles, what kind do you need? Are we talking 'solve the riddle', or 'complete the maze' or what?
-
Re: Minecraft Thread X: In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the ... SSSSSSSS
I once made a neat maze design, using two exits that dropped down into two seperate mazes, each with a lever you need to pull, once you pull one, you need to go back through the first maze to get to the second, and then, you need to get to whichever of the two lower mazes has the door that leads out(which may be the one your not in), the original design also had monster spawners in the upper part, zombie sin this case, in order to make it easier to maneuver around the maze without having to be worried about getting swarmed or stuck. I also had ti set to dispense a few extra items back at the entrance to the upper maze, once you unlocked the doors, just in case you ended up going back to see if anythign had changed at the entrance.

Some of the Race For The Wool dungeon layouts were pretty snazzy too.

Haven't updated yet, but it seems fun.
I really think we should make a new map, too. Ideally one on a decent difficulty, but with mods and access to our old stuff.
Running out of redstone and slimeballs...
...
Actually, wasn't there talk of bringing back Essentials' currency function, a while ago, and selling unobtainable/really hard to get stuff?

Re: Minecraft Thread X: In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the ... SSSSSSSS
So what does everyone think of the anounced features for 1.4 so far?, the zombie villages sound like they could be interesting, as do the new blocks and the change to oak trees.

The new blocks are quite interesting to me. Given that I have three functioning Iron farms... :smallamused:
Oak trees are meh. Zombies with weapons are "Yay!".

Wow, so they are not bothering to fix any of the extensive bugs in 1.3? Or make the game challenging at all? And instead have come out with a whole new release, with a whole new range of bugs in addition to the old ones.
Fix your game Notch!Fix it by taking it away from Jebs

Possibly this was stuff that Mojang worked on while people play the game finding bugs and reporting them? Alternately, the stuff was being worked on before 1.3 and wasn't completely worked out yet, so it was pushed back to 1.4?
Also, how is the game not challenging?
