I'd say leave it up to the judges. That'd probably be the least disruptive.
@erikun: You have me beat there. I don't even have the artist talent for that.

My recommendation is that we let the judges decide.
Also lynch any judges who vote for non-original work as 1st 2nd or 3rd with death.
Hmmm, I think we should have the judges vote on whether to lynch judges for the results of their judging. What a flawless solution!
So, should the judges vote, or do we need to decide on how the contest is going to work?
Honestly I think the judges should just decide.
The awkward moment when you submit roleplay and everyone else submits paintings...

Narration to be added here
Nothing to see here yet
Fleeing Coward was lynched. He was not a Vampire
Khal autolynched. He was not a Vampire
Night begins. Judges continue judging. Anyone with night actions may now submit them.
I didn't know it would be such a conundrum - my character had obviously not made it himself so it would most likely get disqualified somehow even if it won with the judges. I was quite open with it, I picked a painting which would quite recently have been painted at the time of the game and probably none from the higher crust would fail to recognize. I even copied the name of the famous work if someone wanted to double-check*!
My problem was apparently that I didn't think of this as a die-hard arts-competition where people would want to lynch the judges just because they take a silly or in-character judging decision.
I just wanted to clarify this since I turned out to be more subtle than I had hoped.
*I know I'm a splendid artist, so I thought it was best to put in as many clues as possible which pointed people in the right direction.
Event Results - Part One
The judges conferred for some time over the merits of each sponsored artwork. Several fell to the wayside as too derivitive, or as clear attempts to curry favor. Bonaparte franchissant le Grand-Saint-Bernard was considered the most egregarious in this regard.
One piece, L'Aube Du Loup while technically of merit, was considered too controversial in light of recent events.
In the end, multiple judges agreed that the works Même les monstres sont civils and La composition en nuit were top calibre ... but deciding between the two proved difficult. Depending on how the votes were weighed one or the other came ahead by tiny margins; or a technical draw was formed.
A sufficiency of judges agreed that Danse attachée de corde was deserving of mention after the hotly disputed pair.
L'Emperuer, insistent that the matter be resolved, has demanded the judges reconveine solely for the purposes of determining which piece, Même les monstres sont civils or La composition en nuit was most deserving of the top prize. The other would be accorded the honor of second placement; followed by Danse attachée de corde.
Honorable mention and a single Token are granted to Raven par nuit and Jeune dame dans les jardins
Judges, L'Empereur does not like to be kept waiting, and only one of you has submitted your tiebreaker vote...
Deadline for submission of night actions is past - end of night narration and results of the event to be posted within 12-24 hours.
I likely won't be able to post for about a week. If you could refrain from killing, autolynching, or lynching me, I'd appreciate it.
All of your fine horses, be with them at the door...
And indeed, he had ... those selfsame horses thundered through the streets of Paris now, moving through the streets as if the devil itself were in pursuit. The driver, one of the family's most trusted retainers, spurred the horses to greater speed still, while ThePhantom leaned out the carriage window, taking aim with his wheellock. A loud report, louder even than the cacophonous racket the carriage made as it bounced and bucked through the winding streets, and a dark blur fell to the wayside.
Frentically, he began reloading the next silver-coated round into the chamber as the others closed in. He could see the red in the eyes of the nearest, who swooped nearer still, keeping near pace with the overextended horses.
A second report as the wheellock discharged its special cargo; a spatter of blood erupting from the forehead of the monster, knocking it head over heels, whereupon it rolled like a twisted marionette until the body slammed into the wall of a building before breaking apart into a swarm of bats already on the wing.
A sickening lurch as one of the wheels wobbled sharply - yet through the intervention surely of some watching angel, stayed upon the axle. Phantom grabbed two more pistols - no more silver shot, sadly. He aimed and fired with precision, peeling two more of his pursuers off the chase ... and found himself suddenly yanked upward and out of the carriage by means of a grip of incredible unnatural strength.
Too late did he see the body of his coachman, neck broken, laying atop the carriage.
It was, in all things, too late indeed for ThePhantom.
Event resolution:
After lengthy debate, the judges' decision was rendered unto L'Emperuer.
Alarra has been selected as the winner of the competition with her haunting piece, Même les monstres sont civils.
Second honors are given to the most excellent musical work, La composition en nuit as composed by billtodamax.
Third honors are rendered unto Lindon, for his live demonstration, Danse attachée de corde.
Prizes will be delivered privately by Imperial courier.
ThePhantom was killed in the night.
Night ends and day 7 begins.
OPEN DISCOURSE
L'Emperuer has demanded, as he is wont to do throughout the year, that the citizens of Paris assemble at the Grand Palais. It is his desire to observe the lives of his subjects in situ. As L'Emperuer's security is of paramount concern, the gendarmes and musketeers will both be in attendance and in force during this event.
As a result, there will be no lynch vote on Day 7, nor night kills on Night 7, due to the intervention of Imperial Security. Any ability that would create a night kill will fail as if the target were successfully baned.
Instead, what occurs now is that the citizens must decide which factions to support in the days ahead. Each citizen has two votes, one major, one minor, and must pledge them to one of the following organizations. You cannot pledge both votes to the same organization.
The Church
The Inquisition
The University
The Nobles
The Gypsies
OOC Note: As with most everything in Vampire, results may vary from public perception based on activity of certain roles and/or faction abilities.
The faction with the most support will be considered to have 'won' the debates. In the event of a tie, both tied factions will be considered victors.
Well, I'd already gotten an offer I couldn't refuse from the Nobles about this so my major vote goes to them.
My minor is....up for sale I suppose. I'll accept a trade of a minor (or major) vote for the Nobles or one of those token things or possibly information or something else interesting.
From what I hear the Church either doesn't exist anymore or practically has no membership. And I'd be willing to bet the Inquisition wants either Lord Loss or all the "infected" dead. As I have an alliance with the "Werewolf" group I most likely won't trade with the Inquisition unless they offer something significant.
Edit: Well, I've heard from the Inquisition and they say this isn't the case. *shrug*
Edit 2: While I'm at it any other groups want to use me as an anonymous voicebox? :smallamused:
I'll throw in my lot for the University faction as a major.
I guess the gypsies can have my minor unless anything new presents itself to make me think otherwise.
I have no idea who to vote for. I don't even know who I'm supposed to kill.
So....
Pay me. Convince me. Do everything in your power to give me a reason to vote for you.
Nobles as my major.
I'll vote for your faction as my minor in exchange for a vote for my faction as minor. If you're interested PM me or post about it.
Noble as major
Inquisition as minor
Having no prior affiliation, Alarra sits idly by watching the voting, abstaining until such a point as it becomes clear which faction would be in her best interest.
I find this all... rather interesting. Now, would someone give me a reason to support them?
My major will go for the Gypsies, for what-should-be-obvious reasons =P.
If anyone from another faction wants to vote for each other with our minors (i.e, you vote for Gypsies and I vote for whomever), PM me or post it thread.
Votes for sale!
I am supporting the Nobles for my major.
Not quite sure who to be voting for, so just posting to say I'm awake.
Hmmm. There are a lot of people willing to sell their votes and not much to sell them. Plus I don't want to be killed. Brilliant idea sprouts! Ok I will volunteer to act as a sort of safe messenger service. Since I don't want to get killed more than I'd want any of my other goals (I'm sure to score some kind of win if I don't die and I rarely count wins post death).
So what I'm offering is, in exchange for votes for the Nobles, I will take messages from people who want to get in contact with other people. If another person's desires matches up then information shall be given. I would recommend not bothering trying to fish out vampires/town this way (but you can do it anyway for quite possibly hilarious results).
Edit: I would also be willing to sell my future normal votes (will a few minor exceptions of targets).
University for major
Gypsies for minor
For now,
Nobles for Major
Gypsies for Minor

And nobody got me..."
