Heheh. Luckily not!
Although I do have a lot of metal in my blood. I've heard that's often fatal :smalltongue:

I needed to get to the other side of the crowd. :smalltongue:
Stumbled across a black metal band from South Africa. Wildernessking. After the novelty wears off, they're actually not bad at all. And I'm not just saying that because they're from my home town
DD ain't taking none of your **** :smalltongue:
Obligatory mosh pit pic of me:
That looks less like a mosh pitt and more like you being carried by fans or something.:smalltongue:
So I accidentally listened to some Metallica last night. (I was playing some Melechesh and it just moved on to the next band in my playlist. This is how these things usually happen with me.)
And guess what? ...And Justice for All is a actually a great album. Imagine that.
Ok, I've decided I need more Unheilig in my playlist. And probably some other stuff. Thoughts? Suggestions?
Playlist now consists of:
Rammstein
1. Herzeleid
2. Liebe ist für alle da
3. Mutter
4. Reise, Reise
5. Rosenrot
6. Sehnsucht
Samael
1. Reign of Light
2. Solar Soul
Unheilig
1. Puppenspiel
Eisbrecher
1. Antikörper
2. Eisbrecher
3. Eiszeit
4. Sünde
Emigrate
1. Emigrate
Imagine Dragons (Yes, I know. But I like the band and they are amazing live.)
1. Night Visions
Hay, so I guess Samael is playing some festival in Finland in August? I am incredibly jealous and wish they would tour the States some time. :smallfrown:
Not really sure if Anathema counts anymore, but here they put up their new album Distant Satellites, and it is my new favorite thing.
So ten years ago yesterday Quorthon died of heart failure. He not codified the black metal genre, but he pretty much single handedly gave us viking metal as well. He died before he could finish his Nordland saga, but the two albums he did release are still some of the finest viking metal I've heard.
Hammerheart and the Nordland albums are some of my favourite music ever, but I'm listening to all my Bathory today. Hail Quorthon.
Double post because **** it.
Got myself the Wildernessking album over the weekend. And remember when I said it's not bad? Holy balls. It's awesome. Their new EP is also out now, and it's pretty good as well. More post-y than the album. Good stuff. Go ZA.
Also I'm having a listen at Bast's Spectres, their first album that I didn't know about when it came out last year. Damn it's good. Nice and heavy and doomy and crushing. Yum.
Anathema will always count  Loved Weather Systems (and pretty much everything before that), and yeah, this sounds pretty excellent as well.
Well, I've said before the Das 2. Gebot is my favourite Unheilig album. So definitely get that. Lichter der Stadt is pretty good too, but slightly more poppy.
Also you can never go wrong with some ASP. Check it out, I think you'll like it. And if you can handle a bit of medieval tomfoolery, try out Tanzwut or even Umbra et Imago (if you can get a hold of them; they're not super well known).
So I'm gonna be doing drums for a black metal demo with somebody on another forum (they're handling all the instruments but the drums, and composed all the songs-- I'm only contributing drums to this). If y'all like, I'll put it up here if possible so you guys can listen and judge!
Had a listen to Eluveitie's new song and it got me pretty excited for the new album. If they all sound like that, whoa.
But then, I've always had a slightly puzzling soft spot for Eluveitie.

I am looking forward to Hellfest, yes.
Come back here you silly thread.
So to my shame, I've never really listened to Ihsahn's solo stuff. I did so yesterday. I didn't stop until I had gone through all of his stuff. It's bloody amazing. Never knew that. (Well, his first three albums are. The other two, not so much.)
Never been a huge fan of his vocals, but damn the man can play.
I seriously cannot get enough of the new Deathstars album. It was good the first time I listened to it, and it just keeps growing on me.
A couple of forgettable-but-still-decent-songs, and everything else is pretty much fantastic, including the three remixes at the end.
So.. Hi everyone. Haven't read most of the thread, so I have no idea what type of metal everyone here listens to. I'm here to ask some (music related) advice, but first some background.
I've been listening to metal, and things close to metal, since I was 14/15, it was basically just Disturbed and Slipknot, plus a little bit of Linkin' Park, which I got put off of due to the rapping (Sue me, I was judgemetal). Then went through a two year phase where I listened to almost only post hardcore bands. ..I think that's the term. Stuff like Falling in Reverse, Asking Alexandria, Sleeping in Reverse.. You get the idea. These days it's mostly deathmetal, deathcore and metalcore. Yay me, I'm STILL listening to all the types of music that is apparently hated by the metal community. (Note: I say apparently because I haven't confirmed this. I was just told so by someone who, for some reason, went through my phone) So right now it's White Chapel, Suicide Silence, Motionless in White, so on. I also still listen to a little bit of Slipknot, if only as a "Thank you" for getting me into heavier music. If someone played me a White Chapel song way back when, I probably would have thought the world was ending .
Anyway, my question is quite simple.. What bands do you folks recommend for me? I'll post a list of what bands I listen to in the spoiler below. Yes, alot of it is still post hardcore, but I believe people should listen to what their ears feel orgasmic about, not what everyone says, "Iz naut 4 idjits.". ..Yeah.
They are in alphabetical order because I'm reading them off of my phone. *shrug*
SpoilerAlesana, Attack Attack! blessthefall, Bring Me The Horizon, Chelsea Grin, Eyes Set to Kill, Forget Tomorrow, Haste The Day, Motionless In White, Mudvayne, Of Mice and Men, Slipknot, Snow White's Poison Bite, Suicide Silence, Upon This Dawning, We Came As Romans, Whitechapel
New Anathema is excellent. That is all.
You know, I had totally forgotten about the new Deathstars until you just reminded me again. So... thanks
So yeah, I've never even heard of most of those bands. Also, Metal Archives doesn't list them, which I find hilarious for unspecified reasons.
lolwut
At last now I know of a metal band on every continent, heh.
