I like to branch off into AP rammus in the jungle, going
cloth/5 -> heart of gold -> tabi -> aegis
as my core, then rushing rylai's and deathcap if I can get some good fights in. Otherwise, I'll just play normal tank rammus.

His bombs are 700 range. That's enough to outrange Ryze and Annie entirely, and its equal to Morde's cone range. Sure, the skill-shot mids outrange him, but at 700 range, you can actually dodge most skill shots, at least some of the time.

Re: League of Legends XXXVIII: Featuring Mumble, The Giant Halibut
Issue with AP Rammus is he's basically AP Amumu with either much worse CC or much worse damage, since you have to decide whether to max your CC or damage first, while Amumu's best CC abilities ARE his damage abilities.
Anyway, if I get ahead on Rammus, I usually build Thornmail for towerdiving. But then, I haven't played much Rammus in a long time.

That's actually what I have been seeing lately on Kaz players. They get Claws -> Wings -> Spikes instead of ultimate and playing poking/cleanup tanky-DPS style with wriggles, brutalizer, bloodthirster, hexdrinker, and trinity/frozen mallet.

Only partially true. On a team that's coordinated, Zilean bring about another Carry's worth of damage...by bringing back, well, another carry. :smalltongue:

Re: League of Legends XXXVIII: Featuring Mumble, The Giant Halibut
It feels like other people look at M5 - and see something entirely different from what I see.
I hear them called innovative, aggressive, skilled. While certainly all true to a certain degree, that's not how I'd describe them at all.
I'd describe M5 thusly: Wins games by superior map vision, and outnumbering opponents in fights (by way of superior map vision). The end.
I have nothing against M5, they are certainly one of the best teams in the world. But I don't find them fun to watch, and don't really like any of their players - from interviews and such.

Too bad you weren't blaying back in beta. Back then, the meta was 4 insta-lock glasscannon ad carries and then all of them shout "WE NEED TANK!" And the computer I had wasn't the best, so I always got in last and thus had to play the tank. However, knowing the other team had 4 glasscannon ad carries, I often times would pick rammus and proceed to carry the game with the highest KDA ratio.

Off-tank; Abyssal, Rylai's, Zhonya's, etc. The same way you build AP Amumu.

Re: League of Legends XXXVIII: Featuring Mumble, The Giant Halibut
I think aggressive definitely applies to M5. They use their superior vision to be constantly grabbing the enemy's jungle. The defining M5 play for me was from one of the first games I saw them play: enemy Anivia walled off one of their players. Their immediate response was for the other four to flash over the wall and engage. I think other teams have definitely started to incorporate some of M5's aggression, though.
Unrelated: Azubu Frost was fined $30,000 for cheating. The money goes to charity, which I like.

They finished the investigations into the cheating allegations. Several warnings were issued, and Azubu was fined $30k of their winnings, which will be donated to charity instead.
Edit: ninja'd. :smallyuk:

False; Your passive procs no matter what when you ult.

Re: League of Legends XXXVIII: Featuring Mumble, The Giant Halibut
One of the most entertaining pairups I've ever done was when once, myself and a friend played Amumu and Rammus, respectively. Both of us bought Thornmail and Rylai's Crystal Scepter in our builds, and then we'd simply dive in whenever two or more enemy champs were near each other. It was rare that our AD carries arrived in time to get an assist; between our CC and AoE damage, and being nearly impossible to kill, we simply didn't need them. When the two of us managed to kill the five of them by charging in from the side while they were pushing mid, the other team pretty much threw in the towel from sheer frustration and surrendered before any of them had respawned.
Was a fun game. :3

Not with those picks, it doesn't.

No, you are tanking awesome.
One of the most amusing games I was in was one time when (Mario I think?) went jungle mumu, but after a couple successful ganks decided to go AP Amumu.
He. Completely. Dominated. It was awesome.
In other news I successfully tried out Jungle Janna. This is a thing, and I like it.

Hey, does anyone have an alternate link to the tourney? The main League of Legends channel isn't working for some reason for me.

Try Chrome if you aren't using it already. Chrome has it's own internal implementation of Flash that doesn't require an outside install.

Re: League of Legends XXXVIII: Featuring Mumble, The Giant Halibut
direct Twitch link / direct Own3d link.
AP Amumu was just the right way to play the champion. People who rush Warmogs and **** on Amumu are pretty much just dumb. He's not actually a tank; he's an AP bruiser/initiator. Build damage/utility, be more than an ult bot.

Eve mid and Eve jungle is truly where its at! Watching M5 Eve mid is quite inspiring, although my heart is with TPA. I've been watching alot of their games in our local regional league and they are always a joy to watch

TPA too used to countering the Asian strategic style of play I think. They looked totally confounded when faced with M5's aggression.
Game 2: oh my oh my support Zyra, Zilean mid. Love it. As expected, Eve ban by TPA :D Nidalee top is so Season 1 haha
Edit: Holy wow. TPA has responded. Baron and 4 towers in 20 min. GO GO TPA!
Edit 2: Having Zyra and Yorick on the same team is like Plants vs Zombies except they are working together
Edit 3: TPA.Stanley needs a prize for being the Best Distraction/Bait As Nidalee award. Twice she held off M5 while the rest of the team took baron. Dat Kog Maw bait was too good.

Re: League of Legends XXXVIII: Featuring Mumble, The Giant Halibut
Wow, M5 got demolished there. :smalleek:
I really liked support zyra and zilean mid. They actually seem like pretty good picks, even though they got outlaned really hard.

Re: League of Legends XXXVIII: Featuring Mumble, The Giant Halibut
TPA kinda just destroyed M5 in game 2, wow. Will M5 pull it together for game 3?

Dang it riot, I got class and work tomorrow! I don't need to be staying up all night!!!
Sure I could watch replays later but it's just not the same.

Re: League of Legends XXXVIII: Featuring Mumble, The Giant Halibut
Game 3 Comments
14min: So much for Yorick's dominance top. Outplayed by Nidalee!
Both sides playing very cautiously. Early eye on Shyvana means TPA's ward dominance in game 2 is much reduced.
1st dragon to TPA woots. Nice steal by Annivia
Edit 2: TPPPPPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA MVP STANLEY. TPA win the Baron Tango .... look set to win, barring any stupid team fights
TPA! TPA! TPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111
Seriously perfect strategic games 2 and 3 played by TPA which M5 had no answer to.
