o.o;; Damn.:smalleek:
My medic senses are tingling.
SpoilerNo, I did catch that. I'm was just joking that the last of the little spiders left Kurth dazed, as an "interpretation" of Kurth's low roll. :)
SpoilerTwo spot checks so far? Is anyone else here? Crud. I may need to recruit more players...
Spoilerright, roght, spot check. Sorry. [roll0]
Looking through the trees, the party can make out... wooden planks and rope? A tree slightly less covered in sticky webs looms near the party.
SpoilerDC to climb this tree is 5. A view of what you see above will come soon...
Venderholfen
HP: 2/12 (Rage 4/14) AC: 16 (Rage 14) SP: 40ft
Rage turn: 2 (7/8 remain.)
Fort: +2, Ref +3, Will +1 (+3 in Rage)
Initiative - 21
Shaking his head roughly from side to side, Venderholfen shakes the majority of the blood off his axe, and roughly wiping it on the sack tucked in his belt, he slings it after glancing around for a second, then begins climbing the tree. The frenzy in his eyes is apparent, as he steadfastedly ignores the open gashes on his chest and arms, as well as the one that threatens to disembowl him.

[Aetheas]
The local field medic shakes his head as he watches the enraged Barbarian. Staying on hold for the moment he sees the man drop. "Anyone else?"
SpoilerYou all have the opportunity between the end of the fight with the lioness and now to heal or buff or what not. Now that you are at the end of the path the spiderlings were leading you to, you could hypothetically rest here. If you really wanted to.
(ach...well if it's more then eight rounds...)
Venderholfen
HP: 2/12
As the adrenaline fades, and his neck and eyes stop bulging as much, Venderholfen seems to withdraw somewhat into himself, and his wounds seem far more profound. Falling in on himself slightly, he works to hold his guts together.

SpoilerChanging from previous post.
[Aetheas. Field Medic.]
"For future reference to you all, I'm here to help outside of battle. Now, let me see what damage she did to you." The healer said coming up to the barbarian after he had sat down. He would take out his healers' kit, using part of the supplies to hold the body together, then laid a hand upon the man's shoulder allowing a bit of his energies flow into Venderholfen.
"Anyone else?"
Spoiler[roll0]
Heal check with 1/10 uses of the Kit
CLW:[roll1]
2 uses of Spontaneous Healer. 1 use left for the day
SpoilerWhat was the heal check for? Especially if it uses up supplies.
Venderholfen
HP: 9/12
(OOC: Holding until I too, know what the heal check was for.)
SpoilerI prolly should've mentioned this before but, it was more of a precautionary measure than anything. If the DM asked for it, then it was there, if not, then just disregard it.
In either case, better safe than sorry.
SpoilerOh yeah. Sure. No prob. Just wondering though. Is anyone going to 0make a climb check?I have finished the description of the tree top village, but it seems like everyone is just waiting on the ground.
edit: Venderholfen Sees the treetop village and helps the others up upon reaching the peak.
The trees open before you as you climb the branches of the enormous ash tree. A platform composed of thinly sliced planks suspended on rope looms before you. An opening in the plank reveals the path up. Several tarnished blades seem to have once made up an elaborate trap for those falling through this hole, but the now defunct contraption provides hand holds into the abandoned tree top village.
Standing on the platform reveals hundreds of huts; some pressed against the trees that form the center of each platform, and other sprawled out to the edge. Nearest the party on this platform is a hut that seems to have served as a guard post. Empty racks that once held armaments and armor now house vines and fungi. Piles of the remains litter the floor, and the hatched roof has long caved in from the rain funneled from the above floors.
Back out on the platform, a closer look at the surrounds reveal that what once seemed like grey canopy in the distance is in fact the webbing of Blue Blade Sword Spiders (similar to Black Widows). The webs are tangled and disorganized, stretching out in all directions from one point, similar to the webs on the ground.
The platform holds several paths. To the east is a rope bridge with wooden planks making a shifty floor, though most have rotted away. An Orange Spider rests in the middle, tired from the construction of several planar webs along the length of the bridge. It notices your arrival, and makes no motion other than a casual glance (or what is a casual glance for a man-sized spider).
Asides from the bridge is the path back down, a rotting ladder up to a higher platform, and a broken rope bridge from above connecting this platform to one affixed to a leaning tree. (Upon further inspection, the tree is partly uprooted).
SpoilerMight I recommend search checks for the guard house? Further, a description of what you guys see would be nice, as I'm sure my schpiel isn't the clearest.
SpoilerBueller? Bueller?
[Aetheas]
It was strange, perhaps, that the party healer would go first in to the massive tree village. Behind him, he'd try and tug along one (or both) of the barbarians for self-protection. Between the scene earlier, the webs around them, and that massive spider watching him--it was all very nerve racking. As he progressed he would use his "walking stick" as a meter of sorts to brush away the webbing within his path, and to keep an eye on the depth and strength of the ground ahead of him.
"Keep an eye out, would y'all?"
SpoilerFaris Bueller FTW!
And sorry for not replying. I was waiting to see if one of the front liners would go first. If I die, I blame the rest. I like Aetheas.
SpoilerI can't really run a campaign with just a healer... Not without pulling something funny. I'll give it 12 more hours. At which point things get funny. If you are still in the campaign reply with something.
SpoilerSmartass reply: something.
Real: I'm still around. Just disappointed that we lost so many so quickly.
SpoilerSorry, I've had an extremely hectic week. I'm still here.
After climbing the tree behind Venderholfen, Kurth begins a search of the first guard hut. When the healer makes his intent to explore further known, Kurth readily joins him, taking the lead.
SpoilerSearch check: [roll0]
SpoilerI won't lie about it. I thought I was going to have a ton of time to dedicate to these games. And I don't. But I think after implementing a few things so that no one is waiting for anyone but me, we should be able to move faster.
From now on, go ahead and detail your character actions even if you are waiting for someone else. If you need to know their actions first, mention the action you take and the assumption of what the other character is supposed to do to make it work. I promise no one will get short-changed as a result.
SpoilerSorry, still dealing with chaos IRL.
Venderholfen
HP: 9/12
Swinging ahead of the healer, Venderholfen makes a point to test very foothold before he steps forward, uncertain of his footing and leery of the height.
With the party assembled in the tree top village guard platform, the quest continues. Kurth is able to find, under debris, a large key composed of tarnished bronze. Over head of the party, the sounds of spiders scattering about can be heard. The wind whistles through the trees, causing bells to ring with a faint chime some distance away.
From one of the platforms up and to the south, insect combat can be heard as members of the Orange Eyed Spiders duke it out with Blue Blade Sword Spiders. From the looks of things, Orange greatly outnumbers Blue, and this is leading to Blue's demise.
[Aetheas]
The healer, now thankful of the protection offered to him took the moment to scan the area, watching for any more of those blue blade spiders. "I think I figured out an answer to our dilemma."
Venderholfen
"Oh?" Asks Venderholfen, honestly interested.
[Aetheas]
The healer would nod slightly "Yeah, keep an eye out for one of those blue blades. If we ally up with them to defeat those who are attempting to eliminate them, we get the shells and an ally... Or we go on the other with the same goal in mind. We ask for the bodies in return for helping them. What say you?"
The Blue Blade resting along the bridge perks up at hearing Aetheas' words and begins to approach the party. It gets near and changes the colors of its eyes from white to green repeatedly at the party. It appears to be attempting to make eye contact with Aetheas.
SpoilerThis process takes a round or two. If someone wants to do something specific, just say so. I'm not out to rail road the party. I just give hints with all the subtlety of a comet impact.
[Aetheas]
Knowing he won't have long to speak, he attempts to make his conversation short. The healer with a few short words and minor gestures activates one of his spells--to be able to properly communicate with the animal. "Firstly, let me say I don't have long, a minute tops, secondly apologize for not understand what you said earlier. Can you repeat?"
SpoilerSpeak with Animals off the list for the day.
I'm not seeing a rail road yet. I've seen multiple diversions we could've done off of. One of us probably could've set fire to this tree and claimed it as attempting to rid the woods of the spiders, and reacting to a fear.
~shrugs~
But that's me, not the healer speaking.
Venderholfen
Not knowing what the healer is babbling about, and concerned for the man's safety and sanity when he starts clicking, Venderholfen places himself between the man and the spider, and raises his axe, ready to strike the beast down if he seems threatening. Calling over his shoulder to Kurth, Venderholfen calls out "Watch our rear, there may be more!"
SpoilerVermin are not Animals, and in theory don't have a language. Rather obviously, I have thrown that rule out the window. Either way, the spell isn't going to work and Aetheas would have known this and thus would not have cast the spell (so you can take it back if you like). The party can make a sense motive check to understand the intent of the spider.
After several minutes of this, Orange wins the combat to the south, and the Blue you are communicating with starts to move away very quickly upon taking note of this loss.
