Are there any spellcasters on the deck of the Mechane Melistora?
EDIT: Wrong name. Also, any whose players don't mind somebody stabbing them?

I don't mind being stabbed if you need someone to stab.
Gnomes are renowned for their superbly springy flesh which most stabbers would rate highly!

Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXXIV - "Go Go Power Lanterns!"
After a conversation over Skype with Keveak, I'm making this official: I'm planning a reboot of Future Imperfect.
From what I can see, the current version is a bloated, overcomplicated plot with almost no aim in sight, and would be hard to fix it in the state it is. This is probably the main reason for its unfortunate fall into inactivity.
The new version of FI I am envisioning would still involve the Ins and Igon Minoblendy, the Sovice, the UNA and the ALF ; it will be far closer to the original continuity than FFF:R. I have currently thought of the following changes:
- The UNA is a lot smaller, more recent, and less powerful. The ALF is now a meaningful threat.
- The UNA is more morally ambiguous, as to make a struggle against it more reasonable.
- The setting itself is smaller. The action will primarily take place in Pericle Island (Blauport, principally), Schizotec, and Tajira. This means less travel time and no "Green-Shirted Q speed problem", and less isolated characters.
- Fantastic elements play a larger part. Monsters and wizards may appear more frequently, although the latter will generally not be as powerful.
- This iteration should hopefully be far less restrictive, though more akin to a cool action movie than Pineapple Cheese Cereal Invasion!
- There should be clear, accomplishable sub-goals ensuring that everyone has a clear grasp on the story, and can contribute easily.
Any opinions on this proposition?

I love this idea.
The second time around, I think I'll make GSQ a lot closer to his mainstream counterpart, though. :smalltongue:
We may not want to call it Future Imperfect: Reboot or something like that. Maybe we can keep the title (or slightly change it, like "Future in Darkness" or something), but rebooting it like we did FFF kinda suggests that we finished it.

How friendly would it be for newcomers who have a passing knowledge of the original FFF?
How variable/flexible is the tech level? Going through the FI archives, it seems to jump all over the place from laser cannons to machine guns to what looks like single-shot rifles to magnums.
How soon after the fall of the shades mentioned in the FI intro is this?
EDIT: Fat Fish Fury: Times in Shadow?

I'm on the airship. I can also cast spells. I do, however, have a tiny shapeshifting sidekick as backup.

Friendlier than the original FI, I can assure you. That's part of the package.

We'll have to make a consensus, but for now I conceive it as fluctuating depending on the individual and his background, and not settling on a specific Earth equivalent.
Here's what I've been thinking, in my favourite bullet point format:
Military technology
- Single-shot rifles are the mainstream military weapon, but their quality is inferior, closer to a musket than a modern firearm. Revolvers are also used, but suffer from the same quality impairment.
- Swords and other melee weapons are much more frequent than in the original FI. Bows are as good (and sometimes better) as the rifles, but necessitate a far longer training period.
- Special Tactics Peacekeepers (the elites, essentially), have Tommy-like machineguns. They are, however, very rare, as the UNA considers them too risky for a public release.
- Artillery is civil-war era. Gatling guns are cool.
Transportation
- Tramways are the most popular for intra-urban transportation.
- Trains are the most popular for inter-urban transportation.
- Airships are the most popular for oversea travel, but are sometimes used for faster inter-urban voyages.
- Cars are rare and expensive, used by the top echelon of society and the luckier ALF members.
Miscellaneous
- Colour television exists and is a normal feature in most homes.
- Skyscrapers, built by the Sovices, are shiny and futuristic.
- Male fashion is more colourful, and more diverse, than today. Ascots, bowties, ornate cravats and ties are worn alongside a diverse array of tailcoats, waistcoat and regular coats, and unusual variations are not frowned upon. In extremely formal setting, black or white tie is the norm, however.
- UNA offers food and lodging to its workers. Quality varies: manual labourers have less luxuries than Peacekeeper officers, of course.

I am not sure. Thinking about it, 15 years seems to have been a good choice in the original. We should establish a consensus.

Something close to FI or FFF would be nice. But I believe we should disassociate it from the "Future" part. It's not really a sequel.
I've thought of A Flight of Fish, which sounds nice and establishes a connection to FFF without being too close to it.
-
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXXIV - "Go Go Power Lanterns!"
FFF 2 - Not a sequel! =D
...
jokes aside...
Something short, simple and pointed would probably work well for this. The Fish War? Avbaroy Rotting? Chapters of Avbaroy? Of Good and Law? Of Evil and Chaos? Sovice War?
-
Re: Avatar Battle Royale Discussion Thread XXXIV - "Go Go Power Lanterns!"
How about Of Plaice and Men? Anglers and Salmons? All About Weever? Pupfished Ten? Madtom, Pike and Herring? Carp'ablanca?
I'm running out of ideas here.
