Rawhide did, as did Kneenibble. I saw your photos as well, but couldn't really come up with something to say (although I silently wonder why turtles always seem to end up in the pool filters...). That said, I could probably spend a few hours just blankly starring little Koopa's shell patterns.
So pretty... So... hypnotic...

I actually did in fact notice your pic in the last thread. But every comment that came to my mind seemed too stalker-ish to post... But, since you seem to want stalker-ish comments...
Holy cow! I think I'm in lust! http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg37/...if&res=landing
edit: and to be clear, I'm talking about the pic of you on page 48. Not the one of your cats and turtle that I hadn't seen yet... ;)

*preens*
Zherog, you can stalk me anytime. You should know this by now, silly.
Teddy - ours hatched from a pond behind the house (my hubby's grandma's place) and simply went the wrong direction. He was only a day or 2 old when we got him, so we kept him with the intention of keeping him :just until he is big enough not to be swallowed whole". But now he's domesticated, so staying for good.
Also, my apologies to Kneen and Rawhide. Because they are wonderful people and I lahvs them and I did not mean to overlook their comments.
I guess I'm just not part of the in-crowd anymore, huh? :smallconfused:

No such thing to my knowledge? I don't comment on other people's photos as there normally isn't anything for me to say. As such, I don't expect that many comments on mine, as there normally isn't a whole heap to say about them (:
I think one or two comments is lovely and you should be grateful that you get any as a lot of people sometimes don't.

Re: You! (A picture/Media thread) Thread XXXI: Roman Numerals Make Everything Fancy
Firstly, I should like to say that Mabel is doing very well. My sister's family babysat her while I was in BC, and she proved herself gregarious and lively. This is her making a nest of my niece.
Some comments from the last thread [since quoting from a locked thread takes more wizardry than I care to muster]:
@Tectonius I think you look more capable in your picture than I imagined. From your hilariously stammering and ineffectual SMBG personality I had an image of some kind of anaemic.
@Serpentine I love your pictures all of them -- would I could visit -- and appreciate the used book display. :smallwink:

My reaction to your photos is generally a heavy-lidded stupor of hearts popping like bubbles around my head, which is difficult to convey textually.
@Zherog God bless your ugly mug, sir: there is gentility in it yet.

True. And fair. I'm kind of hormone-y, so...that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :smalltongue:

Well to be honest, the sheer amount of photos is a bit daunting, and when I've gotten through them all, I don't really want to go back to pick out any favourites (because that takes AGES as well :smallwink:), and I dislike broad, sweeping comments, so I just end up saying nothing. It's not bad, it's just a bit too much of the good for my taste...

I reserve the winter sports slot for skiing (downhill or otherwise). That said, I'm a rather terrible Swede. There's not a single thing on the table that appeals to me at a crayfish party, for example. :smallwink:

A couple of songs from my band, Vireo. Heavy blue-rock sound. Suggested if you like: Grady, Foo Fighters, ZZ Top, Black Keys, lots of Canadian rock.
Hurricane
Like a Dog - A fan cobbled together this little promo video for us with some clips of gigs.
Would love some feedback!

Well, I'm certainly impressed.
Not much I can give in terms of feedback considering my lack of any musical talent, but I certainly like your sound.

Re: You! (A picture/Media thread) Thread XXXI: Roman Numerals Make Everything Fancy
I'd add Dead Kennedies to that list of "If you like..." if I were you. Although that's not much of a connection. I think it's just the vocalist. Maybe I'm weird. Anyway...
Chilling at sports games and such.

In that first picture your hair reminds me of my brother. Which is weird because you don't actually look much alike.

Re: You! (A picture/Media thread) Thread XXXI: Roman Numerals Make Everything Fancy
Gwyn is at university!
... so, apparently Frosh is just a Canadian thing. For some reason, other universities don't have a week-long party/orientation thing before classes? Well, this one is from one of the Frosh events.
Drinking crappy beer on beach day, in the middle of the day. Beach Day was so much fun. Getting back was NOT fun.
This next one is just a random night I went to.
That night involved drinking at the football game, then drinking and partying at rez, then going to the campus bar to the SLASA (the (something) Latin American Student Association)'s party, had a few drinks there, then one of the girl's friends (not pictured) invited the rest of us (literally just the people in the picture) to his apartment, where we partied more, until we eventually went home around 3:30 in the morning. Got up the next day, was still solidly tipsy. Did not sober up until noon. That's a personal record.

My first college has a week-long freshman orientation. Except it's all about writing and crap like that, not meeting people (outside of class) or drinking (well it is a "dry" campus).
My current university just has a two-day orientation thing, and I'm not even sure which of the two experiences was more of a drag.

Nope, we don't. We have a fortnight-long party/orientation thing before classes. And here I thought everyone did just as us... :smallwink:

I'm older than I look. Promise.
-
Re: You! (A picture/Media thread) Thread XXXI: Roman Numerals Make Everything Fancy
Well, mine was over a fortnight. Especially cuz it didn't really stop until classes had already been going for over a week... So it was more like half a month.
Partially cuz QC is one of the only places where the majority of first years are drinking age in north america, our frosh involves a LOT of drinking. One memorable night started with a few beers at noon, then we went on a pub crawl downtown, then we breaked for a few hours, then we predrank at one of the frosh leader's houses which was fun, then we went to a club.
I have never seen so many Americans learning their limits as I did the last month.

Pretty, although I think black and white photography is a bit silly when not properly justified. Not as bad as Instagram blur, but it's a bit of the same thing...

Yeah, we begun with lectures after a week as well. And yeah, pretty much everyone but those who started school early are of drinking age by then. There's actually a saying that Uppsala University creates almost as many academics as alcoholics. Lots of partying is what the student life is all about.
...
I'm a terrible student. :smallwink:

As a US resident I'm still underage. I went to school young, so I'm only eighteen as a junior in uni.
-
Re: You! (A picture/Media thread) Thread XXXI: Roman Numerals Make Everything Fancy
18 is legal age for drinking here in Sweden, and unless you started school early, you're going to be at least 18 when going to the university.
-
Re: You! (A picture/Media thread) Thread XXXI: Roman Numerals Make Everything Fancy
I can't tell which one you are in that first photo Gwyn, but you look older than I remember in the 2nd one.

It's a thing over here in Aus, but we call it O-week. You can either play it straight and just sort of learn about the uni and what being at uni is like, oooor you can be drunk for an entire week and maaaaaaaybe be sober for classes come the following week :P

I'm the one on the far right in the middle of saying something. The embarrassingly thin one with no shirt. I burnt so bad that day. Sunscreen is for people who aren't me.
And I love this one because all the drinking is fully put on by the school. Even though the McGill Daily disapproves of the drinking and immature chants. I don't think there's a single song or chant that I can post on this forum...

The vocals/guitars are me.

Re: You! (A picture/Media thread) Thread XXXI: Roman Numerals Make Everything Fancy
Yep, we call it introduction camp. At college it's usually a weekend or 3 days long, and at Uni a week long. Not that much fun for people who don't drink though. Tons of fun for people who don't mind getting a tad drunk or are still naive about the ways of alcohol and want to be introduced.:smalltongue:
-
Re: You! (A picture/Media thread) Thread XXXI: Roman Numerals Make Everything Fancy
Way back in the dark ages when I started college (aka, 1988) we had a weekend orientation in July, and then started school the last week of August, with Freshman coming on campus a day before everybody else.
Orientation is where I met my wife, actually. ;)

You have nothing to be ashamed of sir. On that note, I do. For I was hanging out in my friends "shaggin' wagon" ... Good times.
I also somehow oranged my tongue. Still confused about that one. (Warning, photo is IN YOUR FACE.)
