Re: Will Save World for Gold
Today is a perfect example as to why adventurers shouldn't run "mundane" things. It never ends well.

I'd say it's more of an example of why 12-year-olds shouldn't run mundane things. Especially not mundane things that involve fires.

I would say that Peanut could just hire him, but I really don't want the party to end up killing Peanut.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
Ardon can never figure out who the masked archer is. Likely because Ardon doesn't remember her.

Looks like the upcoming battle will not be a easy one.

Evil's got a point in today's post. Without the villain, is there really a story?

Sure, there are plenty of stories that lack a villain. The only thing that is truly needed is conflict, but that doesn't have to mean conflict between good and evil. It is entirely possible to make a story with no evil.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
There can be stories with antagonists but not villains. For awhile Homestuck's only true "villain" was a video game that transported the protagonists away from their homes. the game itself wasn't malicious or intelligent, but because it was challenging and threataning the protagonists, it was considered an antagonist and drove the plot forward.

The Archwarlock is really just that full of himself, luckily for the good guys. Look at what happened to Tarquin in OotS. When he assigns himself that kind of importance, he's begging to be humiliated.

The day villains start reading and abiding by the Evil Overlord's List is the day we should all just kiss our backsides goodbye.

At some point, I want to try challenging myself by making a story where the villain does everything right and makes no stupid mistakes but still loses in the end because the hero is simply better.

I always wanted to write a story where the villain was overwhelmingly powerful, but bored because nothing could ever challenge him. So bored that he openly forces the hero to let him join his quest to overthrow the villain, helping him along the way, so that he grows powerful enough to become interesting.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
It now seems like the whole story is coming towards a conclusive end, which is a little sad to realize.
-
Re: Will Save World for Gold
Nah, there's plenty of story material left. This arc is all about Ell and her backstory/family. We still don't know what is going on, entirely, with Ardon and the Feywild.
-
Re: Will Save World for Gold
I'm starting to think even Ardon doesn't know what's going on with Ardon.
-
Re: Will Save World for Gold
This does seem to be building towards some sort of climax though. Maybe the plot will high a turning point soon.
-
Re: Will Save World for Gold
This may be the climax of the Dire arc, but the whole comic? I don't think this is any more of an ultimate showdown than, say, Torrin, who had way more foreshadowing and was just as much of an "it's personal" villain.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
I'm going to totally start using class names as verbs now, especially on my snarkier characters.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
A staff always complicates things and HR inevitably screws up minion recruiting.

"i am the source of my own power"
oh god, this latest page just makes me want to make a cleric that worships himself as a god. "The more i beleive in me, the stronger i become!"
*At level up*
"My faith has grown! Praise unto me and may i guide me to glory!"

Bonus points if you can acquire followers who worship you too.:smallamused:
Especially if it ends with you turning into a real deity- just by believing in yourself:smallbiggrin:.

So...getting stronger through believing in yourself and the power of friendship? I think we've all seen that anime.

Who said anything about friends?:smallconfused:
Worshippers are what our ego-priest needs.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
On the newest update, I feel like the villian just shot himself in the foot and he does not know it yet. Anyone want to take wagers on him ending up in the city below and qualifying as a "living creature" for them to attack? > _ >

I think he shoot himself in the foot simply by sending away all his minions to kill pointless civilians. I guess he counts on the paladins being forced to go after the gargoyles to stop them.

Re: Will Save World for Gold
Well he did say "In the city" and the city is sheilded. and they only ever LEAVE the city if they "run out of targets"
would that apply to not being able to find any targets at all since the city is sheilded?
