TheCountAlucard, what do you have to say about movies whose titles begin with D as in Dracula?
There's quite a few of them! :smalltongue:
*sees Grue_Bait's new avatar*
:smalleek:
AAAAAAAAAA GIANT BUDGIE!!!
*runs screaming*
My new...? :smalleek: Is- Is there something *gulp* b-b-behind me?
Sorry. I was gone all weekend. I'll get on this when I get home tonight.
Oh, Groob, Bushranger, you both so silly! :smalltongue:
You're so lucky, Count. You get Double Ds. :smallamused: As in Double Dragon, the 1994 movie starring Scott Wolf as Billy Lee, Mark Dacascos as Jimmy Lee, and most importantly, Alyssa Milano as Marian.
It is 2007 :smalltongue:, andLosNew Angeles has fallen into a post-apocalyptic world after a devastating earthquake. The gangs rule the night, and the cops keep the crazies at bay during the day.
But there's someone lurking in the shadows, Koga Shuko (Robert Patrick). And he's searching for the Double Dragon, a medallion of immense power.
At one point in the film, our three heroes (Jimmy, Billy, and Marian) fall down an elevator shaft and find themselves in a lab/morgue. One of the corpses sits up from his slab, a very tall man wearing a basketball jersey, going by the name Tower (Deanthony Langston). What team does Tower play for?
I remember that movie! The Nostalgia Critic reviewed it! And in that review lies my answer... Tower played for the Los Angeles Samurai!
I declare victory!!
*hides pint of beer that had been on Philistine's desk* :smalleek:
I swear... that was coffee!
*nudges Phil to try and wake him back up...*
*starts awake, head rising from the desk, and attempts to surreptitiously mop up the puddle of drool with the edge of his hand*
Buh. Whuh... Gaargh. Who dares disturb my slumber?
... Oh, right. Sorry, I thought I'd answered already. Huh.
Well, naturally my first thought was, "Samurai? That's not what the LA team is called!" Then I remembered that this was in Double Dragon - the Lakers probably paid an extortionate sum to keep their name out of it. :smalltongue: Thus I will Agree.
Spoiler*Hugs Buzzer* BZZZZZZZTT!!! Hello Buzzer, I've missed you so.
The correct answer is the Los Angeles Ninjas.
Your turn, Hippie.

I challenge, on the grounds that samurai and ninja - as usually presented in Western media - are entirely interchangeable; it's a distinction that makes no difference, hence is no difference. Nah, just kidding.
Zeb, you grew up with some Sesame Street. Tell me about the letter B.
The year is 1992. The movie is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That's right, the movie, not the much better teevee series.
For those who don't know the basic story, in each Generation, a Slayer is born who will fight the vampires.... and apparently demons, devils, and other creatures who go bump in the night, but again, that's the teevee series.
This generations Slayer is Buffy (Kristy Swanson). And as her name implies, she's a vacant, vacuous and shallow valley girl, living in a material world with her best friends Kimberly (Hilary Swank), Nicole (Paris Vaughan), and Jennifer (Michele Abrams).
The movie was slightly different. For one, the Slayer is reborn after the previous one dies. There's not a line-up of girls just waiting for their predecessor to die. Two, the watcher Merrick (Donald Sutherland) is essentially immortal, being reborn over and over, knowing that his life is to be dedicated to training the Slayer. And three, they are constantly fighting and being killed by Lothos (Rutger Hauer), a poor Dracula wannabe, and his left hand man, Amilyn (Paul Reubens).
When Merrick is confronting Buffy in the girl's locker room, about missing the first training session, he tries to convince her that it is her destiny, it is what she is meant to do. But she refuses to acknowledge it, saying that all she wants to do is: "Graduate from high school, move to Europe, marry ______________, and die." Who is it she plans to marry?
Oh, man, I remember this abomination of a movie being the reason I had no desire, ever, to watch the Joss Whedon TV show. I know now that the link stops at the name, pretty much, but I didn't then.
What I do remember was hearing that line in the movie and, being also accosted by the vomitous tripe that is Beverly Hills 90210 in its heyday, thinking "of course she'd choose Jason Priestly to be her beau for life". :smallsigh:
Sadly, you would be wrong. She intended to marry Christian Slater.
Disagree
Spoiler:eek: DING! DING! DING!
Not sure how I should feel about you knowing the correct answer to that question.

Come on, big money big money big money no Whammies annnnnnnnnnd...
Stop!
Helgraf, please expound on your experiences with Es.
What's wrong with me knowing obscure Rutger Hauer trivia? I could probably sling out a few more quotes from the film...
"Why did you let them in? They're Seniors!"
"Aw man, she wasted my dog!"
"You broke up with my machine!?"
Plus working at Blockbuster for 18 months might help...
I could only hope this would be from Evil Con Carne
Enter the Dragon, Bruce Lee's final film before his untimely death in 1973.
Lee (Bruce Lee) has been asked by his temple, and by an unnamed British agency, to enter a tournament held by a corrupt former Shaolin named Han (Shih Kien). His mission is to infiltrate Han's hidden lair, gather evidence of his drugs and sex trade operations, and radio back for extraction, hopefully living through it all.
We are also introduced to two other men on their own mission. Roper (John Saxon) is looking to win the tournament and the money so he can maybe pay off his debts. Willaims (Jim Kelly) is there to.... well they really don't say why he's there. He was heading to Hong Kong before the cops stopped him. Maybe he was just tired of being harassed? :smallconfused: But Roper and Willaims are friends from Vietnam, and they both seem to be good guys as far as knowing right from wrong.
Other than the main stars and villains, there are three little known, or just rising martial arts stars in this film. Which one of those three is killed at the end of his fight scene?
Ahh yes .... back ... waaaay back.
In an entirely uncreditted appearance, this was Jackie Chan.
Lies, slander, and base calumniation! Nobody kills Jackie Chan!
Also, disagree.
SpoilerBZZZZZZZZZZT!!
In the big underground fight scene, Jackie Chan plays the thug that Lee fights, grabs by the head, then breaks his neck off screen.

Castaras! Ye have the wheel! Turn more to port, and tell me what ye know about the letter pie!
Hmmm... there be six questions left ... and seven squares yet unclaimed.
Obviously, the last one is the super secret bonus question.
Yes, obviously. :smallamused: But the plan is, that the whole alphabet will be used, unless a win happens before then. After that, I'll give out new Categories.
