Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
I'm on my third laptop charger. I've actually had four, but the fourth broke and we managed to fix the third using the other part of the fourth. They were all like $40. :smallannoyed: This one hasn't broken itself to death yet, making it the longest lasting cord even though it's fashioned out of two dead ones.
-
Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
Well, this'll be my third one now. Since there's a mac store in town they should have what I need. I'm currently hijacking my friend's desktop while he's out at an evening class. He should be back in a bit though.
The one that just died was a replacement for my first power supply which still works but I lost. It's not compatible with my laptop without an adaptor to get the jack right to get into my laptop and the first adaptor jack we got broke due to some bending action, I believe due to something falling on it while I was away for about 5 minutes to go to the bathroom.
This one that just died had previously been sliced in two by a chair leg which wasn't properly sealed at the bottom so the metal tube was exposed. Fortunately it was the simple wire portion of the cable and so we just spliced it back together.
This time there was a bit of sparking the night before but I discounted it as me misinterpretting some static. But now that the pilot light went out on it even when it's in a good plug, well, yeah.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
mine broke because of bending, and my feeble attmepts at trying to fix the damn thing.
eventually I just said screw it and bought the new one.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
I went through 5 with my old Dell Laptop. one of them tried to kill me too, it melted right at the end and sparked me :smallfrown:
My HP hasn't had any troubles yet... though, the cord is a little bent, but its not frayed or anything of the sort, and still charges.
And Dissidia has sunk its claws into me again... hot Zidane grinding on Chaos action
-
Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
Laptop chargers are like that. Dell ones are designed to last about a year, maybe 13 months, before dying. I was basically told that by tech support.
-
Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
...I've had this charger since I've had the laptop. I got it over six years ago...
At one point it did have a charge circuit failure, whatever that is, but I fixed it by hitting it on my desk and plugging it back in...
-
Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
My school replaces any and all broken accessories. I broke my charging cord, and voila, brand new one within five minutes. Greatness.

ugh... HP... so many crappy recalls on any computers that our family has ever gotten.
incidentally, we had a couple of prehistoric Toshiba comps, and though they no longer wrk vey well, the chargers work fine.

Hello everybody, how are you all today?
-
Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
Nimmys:GET IN MY BELLY!
Me:
Also, i envy Spike.
Damn you Spike.
-
Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
Spike who?
William the Bloody Spike, or some or some other Spike?
-
Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
Spike "I said the wrong thing at the wrong time so now i'm stuck in another reality because some jerkass deity decided to take me literally"
That Spike.
I mean, who wouldn't want to travel to another world?
I don't get what he's complaining about.
Okay so there's a lot of people trying to kill him but still...
He could have avoided insulting the most powerful man in that world to his face though...
And he really should be more careful about what he wishes for. With that Literal Genie deity running around you never know what might happen.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
Eeeee~
I'm almost done packing, the most annoying thing is that my music system is marginally too big for the suitcase if I keep it in its box, but if I take it out it's just small enough to rattle around loosely right at the bottom which worries me. I've never even used it before even though it's two years old.
And I have to buy a skirt and tights.
Also, my Mum told me the meanest thing today.
"On Saturday we're having a Chinese meal to celebrate your going away."
I know, I know; but they're actually probably thinking both things. Especially the literal first meaning as I'm being kicked out of my room permanently as of the day I leave for uni. Especially the other second meaning as I'm the first person in the family to be going to university.
And I've never had a proper Chinese before, so I don't know what to get.
Recommendations anyone?

Urrrgh.....
Vomiting violently in school sucks. :smallyuk:

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
Duckduckduckduckduckduck. Duck pancakes. Sweet and sour pork. Spring rolls. Everything.
I would only bring things you will definitely use. That sound system sounds unnecessary. Remember that you will most like be returning with more than you left with.
Bleeh. It's raining and I have labs tomorrow... I really can't be bothered to go out tonight...

That never happened to me. I did however almost vomit into my girlfriends mouth last weekend. Fortunately, that didn't happen.

SPRING ROLLS. So much. Spring Rolls make everything awesome. Pizza? Yummy. Add Spring Rolls? Awesome. Turkey Dinner? Delicious. Ass Spring Rolls? Awesome.
Of course, the highest spring roll synergy would be with Oriental Cuisine, so if you're ordering Chinese, make sure you get lots.

Could it be that now is...
New Monkey Island playing time?

Ah, Monkey Island... such a funny series.

Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
I'll bring the rum!
I don't have much left, but it's in a convenient little flask that I've got sitting on my dresser. Nicely concealable, holds enough rum to get you pleasantly drunk, and no I do not take it to work. That would be a bad idea.

That sound system is virtually the only nonessential thing I'm bringing! The rest is clothes, formal clothes, books, some more books, washing stuff, crockery etcetera and bed linen.
But if push comes to shove it'll stay home.
Also duck pancakes sound good. And spring rolls. Dinner is decided then.
Silly boy. Why go out when you have the nice warm internets in a nice warm room (possibly while sitting on a nice warm bed) where it's dry?
:smallsigh: Great, cat mating is going on in the alley out back. And before anyone says "Close the window", it is closed.

Throw crumpets at them. :smalltongue:
-
Re: KataraAltinaII's Premature Not So Short & To-The-Point Random Banter #130
I wanted to! It's the non-rock, non-rubbish music society! I just didn't feel up to it. Internets are a bit rubbish at the moment though. Shorting out everything (except MSN, mysteriously) is quite annoying.
Four Tet is waaay better recorded than live. Which is in one way depressing. Since I've seen him live. On the other hand, I like him more now that I've actually listened to the album. Hum.

No stereotypical British solutions should be used against cat mating, as it could also happen in America, in Australia, in other parts of Europe, Somewhere in Asia, etc. A few sprays of water could repel cats without the use of something British.
