Jamian heals the two injured party members burning only a CMW. The chains cease to spasm and the infernal din subsists.
Aliam
Aliam goes back into the corrodor to the door opposite the chain room. "Someone keep an eye out both ways while I check this door for traps." He leans forward, examining the door.

p.s. Don't forget my always on spot/listen checks that happen for free whenever there might be something to sense. :)
Sebastian
With a single draconic syllable his eyes regain a mystic glow as he keeps a lookout for any magical effects.
Sebastian and Aliam sense and find nothing odd about the oaken door.
"Good." Says the savage, shaking his head as his ears and wounds heal. He walks up behind Aliam, kukri drawn, waiting for the door to open.
Aliam
Aliam opens the door, senses alert.
Sebastian
HP: 177/164 AC:27 T:15 FF:23
Buffs: Voidsense (Blindsense 30ft), Magic Insight (Detect Magic), Endure Exposure (Endure Elements), Draconic Flight (50ft fly: good. +4 on Constitution checks on forced march), Draconic Toughness (13 temp HP)
As the door opens he gazes into the room with his mystical sight, waiting for the others to enter so that he can scan the room more effectively. Minor clues from other senses enhanced by magic to emulate the superiority of true dragons is also allowing him to notice anything unseen or hiding should his eyes miss it. He puts his dagger away and takes his crossbow back out.
The group enters a room slightly smaller than the one containing the Hellchain Weaver. The stone shows better workmanship in the 30 by 40ft. room. Against the right wall is an ornately carved darkwood table. Unpon it sits a notebook bound in read leather, the cover of which shows no title. To the left of it rests and black inkwell holding a brilliant azure quill. Next to the Ink and book is a large metal box made of some unidentifiable metal, about two and a half feet in all dimension. Also against the wall is a bookcase. Anyone who examines the books sees they mainly deal with abberrations and the ecology thereof. Against the far wall, two corpses rest in black iron shackles. The stench seems to grow worse, practically assualting your nostrils.
"This place makes me feel...enclosed. Smells like something's wrong..." The savage mutters, glancing at the cadavers.
Blue does his best to ignore the smell, entering the room and trying to keep his wits about him. "If we s'posed to be lookin' for spellbooks, methinks we be in the right place. I don't know much 'bout that, though."
The goliath's eyes are quickly drawn to the table; specifically, the quill in the inkwell. "Pretty little thing..." he mutters to himself, taking a close look at the feather. He resists the urge to touch it, however; the ugly atmosphere of the place makes the feather quill stand out too much--in his mind, it doesn't take long to conclude that this might be a trap of some sort.
Aliam
Aliam looks around the room, trying to get an idea if anything is trapped. "Let me just take a quick look around."

Sebastian
He quickly scans the room for any signs of magic but his eyes also fall upon the quill after only a cursory glance. He heads to it first, enamored by its simple beauty.
Nothing happens as Sebastian approaches the quill. Aliam finds an almost nonexistant crusty substance on the groud near the cadavers. He also notices the jaws of the departed souls seem to be hanging open in contrast to the customary "death grimace" of most skeletons.
Aliam
Examine their mouths carefully, anything missing, anything added... does the crusty stain seem to be an exhalation from their open mouths, like something was vomited out? "I don't see any traps... any magic coming from these items?"

Jamian
Jamian follows the group into the small room and after taking in the details of the room he inspects the corpses.
Spoilerheal check to determine how they died. [roll0][roll1] Also, were they tortured?
Sebastian
After one glance about the room he shakes his head, "I do not sense any magic in this room." (Unless SN isn't telling me something XP) He looks over the metal box, "Here, come take a look at this. I've not got an eye for traps, and big metal boxes are usually magical, trapped, or locked. The strange metal suggests its not for mere storage. If anything is inside, I wouldn't know. Most metals can block my sight with ease."
Aliam
After checking over the corpses, Aliam examines the box to see if it might be trapped in some way.

((Hey, why would I want to hide something from you guys? :smalltongue: ))Upon examining the cadavers, Jamian and Aliam find no signs of wounds or a struggle on the bones at all. The skulls also seem intact but are coated with some of the strange substance as well. Aliam finds no traps on the box.
Aliam
Aliam opens the box, if it isn't locked.
If the feather quill has been checked for magical auras or traps, Blue, will pluck it out of the inkwell to get a closer look at it.
The box is not locked but the lid is devilishly heavy. Inside Aliam finds a layer of silvery substance that seems to coat something darker. It does not register as magical. Blue lifts the quill gingerly for fear of breaking it. He can tell it is extremely fragile due to its age but does not seem to be a fabrication, small specs glitter in the sapphire plumage.
Aliam
Aliam looks at the silvery substance, particularly where it might have washed up higher against the box edge and dried out... does it seem to be the same substance that was on the corpses and the floor?
The substance shows no trace of having dried out. It is definitely not the same as that on the floor.
Aliam
Aliam closes the box and goes to look at the notebook. Is it in a language he can comprehend? What sort of things does it detail? As he flips through it, he is talking. "I'm wondering if that silvery stuff is something that keeps the object its covering in stasis... we should be careful about moving that box too much."
Aliam does not recognize the language in the book.
Juame is also intrested in the silvery substance. Does anyone here know the craft of Alchemy?
Aliam
Aliam shakes his head, "One of the many areas of study I never got into, particularly... though I could probably dig up a fact or two if I thought about it... I read just about everything I can get my hands on." He looks around, "Anyone else able to read this notebook? If not, I'll try a spell tomorrow."
SpoilerOOC because I'm tired, if anyone can read Abyssal they can read the book. Otherwise you'll need the spell.
SpoilerAs it turns out Jamian knows Abyssal
As Aliam looks at the book with confusion, Jamian happens to glance at the text. That is written in abyssal. Would you mind if I were to give that a go?
