Pedivere's armor make a banging noise as he stomps heavily down the hall, as he does so the you hear a sharp screech echo out of the dark room, you then hear a clanking noise coming towards you from the darkness.
As bishop and Makoa make their way up the rope with minimal difficulty, at the top the Shade wolves village seems more active. you make your way out of the hole and a familar shade wolf approachs you,"Hello, how is the search going, are your companions ok?"

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
Hearing the noise down the hall Vash acts with haste, WTF?. He throws the sunrod down the hall as far as he can to see if he can see whats coming, as soon as it hits the wall or he sees the creature (what ever is first), he then starts running for the main room. (if the corridor is too dark, he will run his hand along the left wall to guide him back.)
With a huge smile on his face as he runs to the exit. Well time to go!!! Come on... NOW He'll reach into his vest and drink his alchemical mutagen on the way (+4Str, -2Int)
Once both are in the main room, he will try to jam the door while Pedivere climbs the rope. With a carefree spirit. I can climb quicker, you go first. Quick.

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
As the sunrod hits the opposite wall, You see the creatures, Three rotting corpses follow behind a completely flesh-bare skeleton, it is clothed in armor which clunks as it takes steps toward you, it is eyes move to look at the sunrod, when it's eyes return to you they glow a sickly blue light. it screechs again, this time ending in "You! Intruder!" you run quickly to the main room, somewhat jamming the door which opens into the room, and successfully climb the rope.

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
As Vash starts pulling the rope up, Well, that was fun wasn't it. He puts his hand on Pedivere's shoulder, You have to admit that was fun... and informative. Now we know we have intelligent undead down there. When we return we can be better prepared.

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
With a slight nod Bishop acknowledges the wolf's question. Sweat forms upon his weathered brow and his breath is slightly more laboured "There be alright, but I am afraid I am in need of some treatment... Caught something a while back and this time around I didn't get it from laying with a pretty face." His speech is slightly sluggish as he moves slightly slower than normal.

Exciting? Sure, why not. Pedivere laughed. Next time though, don't wander off on your own, ok. I'd hate to have to fight off your corpse in the near future. The Paladin winked. Now, let's see if these wolves can cure you of that Filth Fever before it becomes moot and you just die anyway.

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
Some type of illness has taken my friend. Do you have any local shaman or a brother of the healing arts? I believe the problem needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

Pedivere trots over to the wolf.
We have a case of Ghoul Fever on this one, he indicates Bishop, It has already taken I'm afraid. And this other one has Filth Fever, just infected.
Is it possible that someone here could cure these diseases and maybe restore the human to full vitality?
You also have some free-willed undead below.

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
Well, for now at least. I'm guessing some hedge-mage of a necromancer has decided it was a nice quiet place to setup shop. I wouldn't think a natural phenomenon would bring about intelligent undead that could talk.

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
"Hmm, I'm afraid we are not a race that has found much meaning in Healing, as we are such a hearty and powerful kind." the Wolf looks behind it's back, "However, their is one among us who has the free time to have taken up some healing arts as a hobby, if yohu'd like to meet him he's over there." the wolf points his head towards the giant wolf in the trees.

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
Vash goes to the wolf, I'm told you may have the means to cure deseases. Maybe know of a root or herb that could aid in the healing.

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
Bishop walks towards the large wolf indicated previously and stops short of him. Taking a laboured breath he tips his hat "Pardon me sai, but I was told you know a little about healing. Could I trouble you for some help, I am afraid I am in a bit of a bind and this disease that I have is outside of my ken." He coughs slightly as the last words leave his mouth, pulling out a kerchief he wipes his mouth.

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
The wolf opens one huge eye, it's the size of your head " Ground walker, you do seem to have been infected by something." It's voice booms and echos around you, It seems to ampilfy with each echo, reaching nearly unbearable heights of sound, you wonder if the townspeople can hear it, and then suddenly it cuts off. "I can help you fight the taint, but I cannot cure it out right." This time is voice is almost unhearably quiet, The Wolf moves it's head slightly, the movement snaps a tree as he moves to bishop first, it's tongue moves over his forearm, on bishops arm the tendrils of undeath recede, and the weariness in your legs and your loss of balance dissappear, "I have taken from it what I can, but beware, if your internal fortitude is weak the undeath will return.", He moves to Vash "You I should be able to heal fully as the illness is new and weak." This time the wolf move his mouth over vash's hand , breathing in deeply, a dark purple fluid is drawn out of vash's wound, which seals shut as the last of the purple liquid is drawn out. "Now begone I must rest some more."

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
Bishop lets out a sigh of relief as the weariness dissipates from hi body "Thank ya kindly big fella, I always liked wolves felt a certain kinship with them ya see. Let me know if I can do anything for you, a man has to pay his debts you know? One can't walk the never ending walk without having his tab squared that's just bad karma."

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
The wolf does no move at all before saying "you are already doing something for my village, do not underestimate what that means to me, Now hurry back to your job."

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
He clearly wants to be left alone. We'll repay our debts in service by destroying the abominations that reside in their temple.
After they move away from the wolf and regroup to discuss their next action, I almost forgot I had these. I found them in the first guard house. They appear to be a curative. The won't handle poisons or disease, but they should serve as a good wound seal. He hands out the three CLW, one to each of the party members. If I could have about an hour, I need to prepare my strength mutagen. Then we can head back down there and get this finished up.

The young paladin watched with mild fascination as the great wolf licked the wounds clean of the disease. I can lay on hands, he thought, but that's just ridiculous. Still, he marveled at the efficiency of the wolf's work.
When Vash offered him the healing potion, Pedivere held up his hand. No thanks, I can heal already, so these would be best distributed elsewhere. He smiled warmly and clasped the half-elf on the shoulder in a sign of friendship, Thanks for the offer though. Now, make your mutagen and let us get back to the job at hand forthwith.
Whilst waiting for the half-elf to be ready, Pedivere sat at the top of the entrance to the temple, looking below on watch, his legs dangling over the edge and his axe resting on his lap. Ready? he called as he saw the others approaching? Good, lets go.
He swung the axe back into place on his back and then grabbed the rope and descended slowly, pausing half-way down and scanning the area before finishing his descent.

Bishop nods at the wolf's request and walks back to the hole, hovering over the rope looking down. When Vash reaches the bottom (take 10), he recommends the door on the right and the path to the left. I recommend we start with the unexplored hallway. We already know we have some hostility beyond this door. Referring to the door he jammed with his knives.

Makoa slowly moves down the rope. (Take 10)
I may not be as fortunate as last time with a lucky fall.
Vash, Bishop how are you feeling? I was not aware that either of you had began to feel so sick until we got into the tunnel. Do you think we can neutralize the poison next time?

Maybe, said the Paladin. But I don't like the idea of leaving potential enemies behind us. If we need to retreat, and they have broken through we have cut ourselves off. Best to deal with the threat now and get it over with than put it off.

Re: Highland Archipelago: Terror in the Mist (IC)
I suppose... of course, there could just as easily be some down this unexplored hall. If you recall, we heard noises coming from an unexplored room further down the other hall.
Of course, on the plus side... I may be able to recover some use from the sunrod I left down that hall.... Sure, lets go that way.

Before opening the door, Vash carefully resets his daggers and draws his sword. As he opens the door he sees that the old sunrod has burnt out, he cracks a new one and presses on as before.
