A 518 add'l
If a spell doesn't have somatic components, then it doesn't have arcane spell failure chance. for example, feather fall has only verbal, so a caster wearing full plate and holding a tower shield could cast it without chance of failure.
To the more general nature of the question, though. Keneth is exactly correct that casting time does not affect spell failure.

Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
I have no idea why my mind made the assumption that we're talking about quickened spells. I seem to have associated it in such a way, then forgot entirely about the original question. Sorry about that, but I guess I was close enough.

Q518
Can Barbarian use maneuvers like Trip or Disarm while raging?
-
Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
A518
Don't see why not, neither is an "ability that requires patience or concentration" nor a Cha, Dex or Int-based skill check.
Yes, they're "Int-related" maneuvers, but that doesn't mean they're brainiac solutions, you're just making another being fall or slapping their hand so they drop the weapon.

Q520a: Which base cost does an Alchemist use when crafting potions using the brew potions feat?
Q520b: is there a way for an Alchemist (or any class, for that matter) to craft potions higher than third level?
-
Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
A519a No.
A519b
I'm not completely certain. CMD is a lot like AC, it even goes so far as to say that "Any penalties to a creature's AC also apply to its CMD." I would like to say "yes", but it doesn't explicitly say so anywhere in the RAW and Paizo is very careful not to give its creatures and NPCs too much Dex, so there's no official stat blocks (that I could find at a glance) to support that.
A520a I would go with Bard, it's based on spell progression.
A520b Not as far as I know, but some classes (such as summoner) may craft potions of spells that would otherwise be higher than 3rd level for other casters.
-
Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
Q519b: Damn. Anyone else have any insight? This is actually relevant for a game I'm in. (If not I'll go ask at Paizo.)
A520b addendum: While Alchemists can't actually craft potions higher than 3rd, the Infusion discovery will let you hand around some of your higher-level extracts. So you could brew an extract of Air Walk (4th-level spell) and give it to someone else in the party, and they could even hold on to it indefinitely so long as it continued to occupy one of your extract slots.

can i craft a golem with a tome of golem if i don't possess the craft construct feat assuming i have the necessary material for the appropriate golem outlined in said tome

Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
A519b
RAW seems to be a fairly clear "no" to me. The Max Dex Bonus explictly says it does not apply to other Dex based abilties, and the section on CMD doesn't list an exception to that statement (it's not a penalty, which is the closest CMD gets to including it). Now, that doesn't mean that's what the designers intended or the answer that makes the most sense in-game, but that does look like the RAW answer.

Perfect, that at least gives me a page to cite. Thanks!

Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
A521 Don't know what a "tome of golem" is, but you can't craft any magic items without prerequisite feats unless you have an ability that explicitly says says you can.

True, I suppose. Lack of evidence is evidence in and of itself. I would rule otherwise, but as far as RAW is concerned, it doesn't say anywhere that your Dex is limited by armor or encumbrance.
-
Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
q521 clarification
apologies, i meant golem manual, my gm refers to it as a tome of golem
-
Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
A521+ Golem Manuals specifically allow the user to create a golem as if they had the Craft Construct feat. In fact, assuming you can spell trigger the spells inside, the manual takes care of all the prerequisites (except for the money).

Q522 When using Metaphysical Weapon, is the maximum enhancement bonus +5, like with enchanted weapons?
-
Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
A522 Yes, but even if that weren't true, there's this rule:
Quote:
[...] it is critical to remember that a manifester may not spend more power points on a power than his manifester level. This includes spending power points augmenting the power [...]
Meaning you'll never get past +5 anyway (unless you're epic level which falls outside the scope of PF RAW).

What ways are there to gain more or better sneak attack dice or damage besides levels in sneak attack granting classes?
I know of knife master changing SA to d8s for certain weapons.

Third party material can just legitimately be considered RAW when the question is aimed at that specific product. RAW simply means Rules as Written, otherwise it would be 1PRAW or CRAW.
A523 There's really very few ways to increase the damage of sneak attacks. There's Powerful Sneak and Deadly Sneak which give you a minor increase in damage (it sounds cool, but it really isn't). There's the Blade of the Society trait which is also pretty bad. And there's the Sword of Subtlety which is actually pretty cool, especially if enchanted further.

Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
Q 522 clarification There are a number of ways to increase manifester level, My character will be ML 30 at character lvl 20.
However, I would like to know where exactly does it state that the maximum bonus is +5. It's not in the "enhancement bonus" entry, nor in the "Metaphysical Weapon" power entry. The maximum of +5 is given in the section "magic weapons", saying :
Quote:
Magic weapons have enhancement bonuses ranging from +1 to +5
My weapon is not a magic weapon, it just has an enhancement bonus. Are there any other references to this cap of +5? Because if there are not, then I think it is RAI and not RAW
-

No, it isn't. Technically it would be a psionic weapon, and those are also capped at +5. I've never seen anyone enhancing their weapon past that point ever since psionics first came out in 3.5, although personally I don't see anything wrong with ruling it otherwise. A slight increase in weapon enhancement isn't gonna break the game.
I would however suggest you re-check your ML enhancers. A lot of them likely don't stack as is the case with Wild Surge and Overchannel for instance. +10 seems like a bit much unless you're doing a Perfect Surge.

Yes, but the attack no longer resolves as a touch attack.

So it would be your standard "Hit the AC" attack? Could I deliver a touch attack as part of a full attack then? Like Bite, Claw, then touch attack, or some variation therein?
-
Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
Yes on the first part.
I'm not positive on bite and such. In 3.5 it was only your hands that delivered touch spells.
-
Re: Simple Q&A Pathfinder (By RAW) I
A523+ Yes, you can deliver a touch spell through a natural attack but you resolve it as a normal attack, whether you make a single attack or full attack is irrelevant, the spell discharges upon you touching anything. A touch attack is not a natural attack though, so you can't do bite, claw, and touch, but you can do touch, then bite and claw at -5 penalty since they become secondary attacks in the presence of a "weapon" attack. The exception is a magus who can spellstrike as part of his normal attack routine. The only part where the rules are unclear is actually which natural attacks discharge your touch spell. Is it just one claw? Is it all claws? Is it all weapons including bite or gore? I think this part is best discussed with the GM.

Q524: can a staff with it's highest level spell castable by a caster lower then 8th level be recharged by that caster(the specific example i was wondering about was a staff of cure light wounds, or cure moderate wounds, used by either a bard or a cleric of 7th level or lower)

Thanks!

It should work so long as the three requirements are met.

It appears to make the ability useless (in the sense that Aura of Justice's activation requirement cannot be met).

Unless stated otherwise in the spell text, the Penumbra spell does not affect ambient lighting nor adversely affect the visual senses of other characters. Rather, the Penumbra spell addresses only the penalties or blindness caused by bright light.
