Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"I wonder what it is about HALO that attracts such chronological or possibly temporal anomalies." I think it's a family tradition for one group of them- a not-yet-born daughter visiting her mother and a yet-to-even-exist-to-the-daughter grandson. But I could be wrong; I don't follow HALO. Although, if they do exist, I think they're your characters.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
That'd be correct! Mostly. Patty (Erin's and Mike's daughter) came back, and then Brian (Patty and Rosier's son) came back (after being born in the main timeline), but then Bellatrix and Andromeda (Patty and Matt's twin daughters) came back and their timeline doesn't even exist yet. Then there's...
...y'know, it's probably just best to say "a big ball of wibbley-wobbley, timey-wimey, stuff". :smallcool:
Anyway:
Lucy shrugs. "I dunno. I do know it drives people nuts."
And then she grins.
"Maybe that's why..."
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"I'm not surprised it drives people nuts. Imagine waking up in the morning to discover that it's yesterday." I think Azurelle's a bit confused about how the time distortion in HALO works. "Maybe what's why?" She doesn't follow Lucy's train of thought.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
[Tournament Waiting Room]
"...huh? Oh! No no no, the going back in time is on purpose," Lucy explains.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"Oh, I see. There's some form of time-travel device built into the structure. I bet that's handy for invading the future." Why would anybody want to invade the future? Invading the past is much more fun- you already know what will happen, and you're nearly guaranteed to have better weaponry.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"It's complicated." And Lucy giggles at that understatement.
Most of the time the time travel has been offscreen and unexpliained (It Just Happened). Andy and Bella did use BR's Stargate to come back though.

Of course, Thelonious is taken back by the boy's rudeness. How will he react? More talking. Lecturing actually. "I say, you little rascal, when I was your age we treated our elders with a great deal more respect, whether or not they were our grandfather! I've half a mind to take you over my knee like I was your Grandfather, but I'll save it for the ring, you little villain! Oho, you better hope you don't face me in the first round. I'll send you crying back to the nursery!"
Tournament Waiting Room
"Times change old man. You should have seen that in the past. And I doubt I will cry. I haven done it since I was 6."
The boy takes a few steps away from the old man just to have enough time to draw his weapon.

This little girl shouldn't be fighting in this thing!
Yeah, I'm gonna fight. Is that okay? I mean, can I still live with you if I go?

Tournament Waiting Room
"Put that away before you get disqualified, or hurt yourself," Thelonious says pointing at the war hammer. "I said I'd do it in the ring, you scallywag, and that's my intent." He mutters something along the lines of Kid's these days.

Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"Isn't that the definition of time travel?" Most of the time, it seems to complicate matters.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
[Tournament Waiting Room]
"Probably," Lucy agrees with a nod. But at least changing the future doesn't erase those from it.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"If you have travelled through time to meet the mother that hasn't had you yet, what would happen to you if she died?" And what happens if you erase the past?
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
[Tournament Waiting Room]
Clearly what happens is the creation of more Timey-Wimey Balls for the Cosmic Cats to play with...
"Um...well, see, that's the problem, I can't find her. It's like she's not even here," Lucy says, a little sadly.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"Oh, I see. I'm sorry to hear that. Do you know her name? It might be that I have heard of her or know somewhere to start looking." Although it's unlikely. Unless you want a random dungeon for Lucy to start exploring.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
[Tournament Waiting Room]
Hm, that could potentially be interesting. However...
"Her name was Marle Alexi," Lucy says with a soft smile as she thinks about her mother.
...as Dirk is long gone :smallfrown: there shall be no success in any search.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"No. Sorry; I can't say I've heard of her." Although if two women can have a baby, why can't two men?
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
[Tournament Waiting Room]
Heh. Well, aside from it having to be in an artificial/magic womb, no reason, although I don't think that has happened yet.
And lo did the Tobias/BR shippers ponder...
"Oh. Well, thanks anyway."
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
How about the chief engineer in Star Trek: Enterprise back when it was just Enterprise? I can't remember what series it was, though; one or two, probably.
"Not a problem. I'll ask around the Temples, however; might be somebody has heard of her. It's also possible that she has migrated off-world. Can you remember if you will definitely be born in the Nexus?" That's an odd sentence to say, yet I think it's completely apt for the situation.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
Tucker? I vaguely remember that...
Lucy nods. "Yeah. Kinda far in the future though," she allows, finding the question perfectly logical.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
There was an alien, some stones and a holodeck involved. But I couldn't remember his name.
"OK. Well, it's still possible that she either hasn't arrived in the Nexus yet or is temporarily away, either in her homeworld or somewhere else." Azurelle wants to give Lucy some hope that she may yet meet her mother! Hopefully she's not overshot and has in fact travelled far enough back that the person she's looking for hasn't been born yet.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
[Tournament Waiting Room]
But was it a green alien chick? :smalltongue:
"I hope so. But deadtime oozes can be a pain." Lucy sighs.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
She might have been green; I can't remember. She was bald, I think. Maybe. Definitely female, and certainly alien.
"Yes, they can. Especially to time-travellers, I'd imagine- they feed on time itself, I believe, so time-travellers may therefore be their favoured prey." Of course, I have no idea how accurate that statement is. Neither is Azurelle, actually.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"Huh? I never knew that. I thought only Chronovores ate time," Lucy muses.
(But now I must make a food run, alas.)
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"I don't know for certain, but they keep you frozen in space and when you wake up, as far as you can tell no time has passed. There's probably other explanations, but that's the simplest one." The simplest one isn't always the correct one, however.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"Erm, well yeah, of course you can. It's just...do you even know how to fight?"
I mean, how old is this girl anyways?

"To me that sounds more like a stasis field than the effect of a chronovore, though," Lucy points out, scrunching her brow in thought.
-
Re: [Nexus] Harnel's Plots
Tournament Waiting Room
"I suppose. I have no experience with chronovores, and as you may tell from my attire, I know little of stasis fields." She knows that farmers aren't involved, but that's just about it.

Eon didn't draw his weapon yet. He just got more space between them so he cand raw it in time.
"I use my weapon as I need it and if you continue to provoke me I won't care about rules."

"Dad was...is, I guess?...an expert on them. Although he always thought they were creepy," Lucy observes with a shrug.

Nine. :smallwink:
Uh huh. It's almost the only thing I'm good at.
