Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
O hai. Well, in order to bypass the useless junk that nobody reads anyway, i'm gonna cut to the chase.
The Fan Comic Secret Santa is an artist-created and artist-organized event for fan comic artists on this forum (and back when the Arts & Crafts and Fan Comics forum were one forum, but I digress...) where webcomic artists write guest comics for each other. Sounds like fun? Basically, think of it as a way to get free guest comics for your comic, as well as make a guest comic for someone else!
NOTE THE RULES IN THE LIST OF VOLUNTEERS/COMICS
Sound interesting? Sign up your comic by posting its name and a link to the thread that hosts it. I will then post it on a list at the bottom of the OP (aka this post.) After a certain date is reached, all the comic artists will recieve a PM from me telling them who they are writing a guest comic for. NOTE: all comics signed up should be recieving a guest comic. They will not be allowed to know who is writing a comic for them.
When you are finished writing your guest comic, PM them to me. After a certain amount of time, I will post all the guest comics on this thread for everybody to see.
Also, as a side note, since I will be signing up my own comic, could any non-artist take the reigns from me so I don't know who is going to make a guest comic for me?
List of volunteers/webcomics
Another issue: Inevitably, some artists are lazy and don't do their comics in time. And this sucks. Alternatively there are an odd number of applicants, which will mean either one comic gets two guest comics, or one comic goes without. This might be a bit unfair. So if I could get a list of artists willing to do other guest comics for people whom are owed said comics, that would be greatly appreciated. Their names will be listed below.

One final note: If you have a friend you WANT to do a guest comic for, feel free to make a comic for them and PM it to me. When the guest comics are compiled I will include it. However, this does not excuse you from making your comic for someone else.

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
Depends, can you get 10 comics in 2 weeks?

No. Not with the...special methods of making them I can't.
Better luck next year.
[EDIT] this is, of course, refering to any new projects I may or may not be starting soon. It's entirely speculation on your part.

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
You can still sign up as an auxillary artist in case we get an odd number of comics or someone doesn't make theirs.

I could...Then I'd have to do work possibly...:smallsigh: :smalltongue:
You know what? Put me down for that. Sounds like fun!

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
I'll do it! My comic is Murphy's Law.
-
Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
Eh. Why not. Tales of Revelia.
Though I haven't the time to reread everyone else's comics to make sure I get the characters right. I probably just be going off whatever previous recent comics you've got.
-
Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
Good to know we're getting some people
Also, you don't have to have read everyone's comics. By the 21st, i'm gonna PM you what comic you're doing a guest comic for. I'll give you more than enough time to read through even the archives of my comic AND come up with a guest strips with probably DAYS to spare. :smalltongue:

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
Hmm... this may seem like a difficult task for poor little me. And I'll also be doing NaNoWriMo this november. Hey, what's life without a challenge? Count me in! But first...
What would the deadline for the comic be? I'm going to register Wanderers of the Mushroom Kingdom for this. I'm not too good at character interpretation, but I'll try to not completely screw them up! :P
EDIT: Something has me pondering... why would we need extra artists for this? Even if the number of comics is odd, we could go with a system akin to 1 makes for 2, 2 for 3, 3 for 4, 4 for 5, and so on until we get to x for 1, which means that the oddness of the number of strips isn't important. Or are we doing this on a 1 makes for 2 and 2 makes for 1 system?
EDIT # 2: Are we going to have more events like this in the next months? Or will we go on a yearly basis?

Welcome aboard. And the deadline would be 3 weeks later. Of course this is open to negotiation. You can PM me your completed comic at any time (except if you're doing my comic, then you post your/my comic when I post everyone else's.)

You're probably right regarding the artist scrambling system. I just recall some disorganizational problems with older CSSes, and I got confused.
Though we'll still need the extra artists because there WILL be people that get lazy/forget/are uninspired/just plain don't do their guest comics. And that sucks. So they must recieve something.

I'll host 'em whenever I feel like it. Which could either be quarterly or annually. Although, nothing's preventing someone ELSE from hosting them! :smallwink:
Please though, for the love of The God Emperor of Mankind, try not to have 2 going on at the same time.

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
We have the right to put our guest comics anywhere we want in our threads right? They don't have to go with the standard set of comics, but can go in a separate spoiler somewhere else in the post right? Will anyone get offended if I do?

Don't quote me on this, because I don't rightly know, but a lot of other comics have a BONUS spoiler section under the Archives spoiler section, and in there they've put things like guest comics and fanart.
I'd like to make a guest comic too. I'm currently updating a wee fan comic called The Order of the Tree. Just please don't extend the deadline, I'm going to be pretty busy in November so am planning to make the guest comic at the end of October.
Am I right in thinking you'll be using some kind of random number/order generator to decide who makes a comic for who?

As oppolo said, most comics have a bonus or extras section for guest or non-canon material. You can post the guest comics you've made and recieved in your own comic thread at your leisure, but PLEASE don't put the guest comic you've made in your thread before I post them.

It's perfectly possible to draw comics without a bit of text. You just have to convey the humor/drama/action with imagery. You can even have dialog and replace the text with pictures. Huh, what is that called again? Whatever, I think you know what I mean.

Alright! 8 comics! A lot better than i'd hoped!
And the deadline is imminent. If you're an artist who's lurking the thread, I would recommend you get yourself in here soon.

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
What You are Against the Darkness
I have 11 comics. That's enough :smalltongue:.
Also, when the fan comics are posted, will we be guessing who made them?
I guess yes.

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
I'll post the guest comics that you PM to me in no particular order in this thread. If you're making my comic, DO NOT PM it to me, instead post your comic after I post everyone else's. The format for the comic posting will be as follows
From xXxS3ph1r0tHxXx to My Awesome Comic

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
Hey Randy (I don't care if you had a name change, you'll always be my little Randomizer :smalltongue:), are you deciding who gets to make your comic?
Sounds a little prone to a rigged decision to me. You could just get the best person to make it! :smallwink:
-
Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
If you're volunteering to take this off my hands, please do so. At least this way I won't know who's making my comic.

Wait wait wait, What? Who said anything about me volunteering? :smallconfused:
I was just joking earlier.

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
A little deadline reminder! And then life chose this specific moment to be a biggest pain in the arse. :P
Well, I'm pretty sure I can still pull off a pretty good job, despite life constraints. Lemme at 'em!!

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
The PMs to the artists (I wonder if I can PM myself) have been sent. Hopefully there aren't any issues with me giving them the wrong comic.
But in a nutshell, here's the procedure. When you are finished, except if you're doing my comic (you know who you are) PM the comic to me. The comic MUST be finished by November 11th. I will then compile them on a post in this thread.
If you ARE doing my comic, and again you know who you are, I PM'd you the procedure you have to follow.
And for the love of the Omnissiah, PLEASE don't even hint at what comic you are assigned to!

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
Will they be posted then, or are you waiting until the holidays?

Re: Fan Comic Secret Santa: The Resurrectioning.
They'll be posted on the 11th. IN OTHER WORDS THIS FRIDAY. Also, the release date of The Elder Scrolls Skyrim :smalltongue:
